  1. To any of the podcasters who stumble across this post

please stop repeatedly telling us what segments are happening and that "we will get to that later".  just say it at the start and get rolling

it is quite distracting to continually have them stop the conversation to caveat something

    pedantic yes

I like all of them. FTLOPM may be my favourite at the moment. I would like a bit more in depth analysis on all of them - can often get stuck in "things were just great" circles.

It won’t it will just be another excuse I can see it now , “I can’t pick Ezri now we were looking to add a Centre Back but now we view him as Right Back and we’re already stacked in that position”

i think its a joke as southgate often calls up and plays too many right backs

  3. Its important to remember Pau has held his own against Barcelona/Real Madrid for years - he didn't suddenly get bad at defending after joining the PL

the defence works as a unit and requires trust and confidence and the players are building that. there will be bumps and moments of hesitation like we saw against burnley

  4. Was ok today. Seems more comfortable holding onto the ball and playing it around.

Made a decent save somewhere in there too.

Still doesn't fill me with confidence but he did enough today.

  5. found another wrinkle in the squad with cash playing rm

he looked great in that position - his natural attributes suit him playing there and it adds a bit of extra defensive cover along that side

Have to say I have no idea why he played pretty much as a right wing back when he came on unless something Unai has been working on

Interesting he got on before a few other players, maybe has a long term future here

I think he just ended up there as we defended deeper

he was playing the same bailey/cash role

Yeah he’s got off to a good start… much better than the previous guy.

Actually seems invested and enjoying his work…

He has been covering Southampton for a while. Would be nice to see some success.

Really dislike the idea of signing Felix on loan.

Can’t stand the thought of paying his astronomical wages as he struts around the place with his inflated ego ‘dreaming of playing for Barca’, while churning out a string of inept performances before inevitably getting injured.

I doubt we would engage in a pure loan without an option to purchase

Also Felixs off field junk is bleeding into perceptions of his on field performances - he was far from inept at Chelsea

Haha fair. I've just done it on Transfermarkt, league only (at Villa) stats:

Bertie averages one goal contribution every 173 minutes.

Bailey one goal contribution every 219 minutes.

I'd also guess that Traore's had more scraps of minutes lately.

To say Bailey is more clinical isn't true IMO, it's the other way round.

I like Bertie but he is a luxury player for the most part

Bailey as frustrating as he is has shown he can be an important part of the structure of how Villa play including contributing important goals and assists. Something Bertie has yet to solidify.

He may well do so and displace Bailey but this idea that he is better is far from the mark at this stage IMO

If he was to rise to that level it would strengthen the squad immensely

@Don_Simon football is altogether about opinions - I would love to know what you see in Bailey that makes you feel, he is more likely to score a goal at any stage than Bertie ?

the manager feels the same too

Bailey can finish and assist and aside from his frustrating displays he has delivered on these points.

Bertie while entertaining and scoring the odd wondergoal is not as clinical as Bailey.

For all his attacking work yesterday he got an incredibly stupid yellow card for a Premier League player to get against a team of Hibs quality

A better team/manager would have exploited that

    weird point to target

it should never have been a yellow - happened in the first 10 mins
