Is there a chance that subconsciously this is what they have their eyes on a and heads in?
Not saying purposely so ( neglecting the Conference League ) somewhat.
I don't think there's any doubt, and if not for some calamitous errors and terrible luck it would've continued doing so. He won't admit it but I think Emery understands the journey has been more important than the destination here; learning how to pace yourself through the season is so important, how often do you see Real in CL games breezing through the game like it's a warmup? It's the right mindset, but mistakes cost us.
Let's not forget the tie is far from done and dusted.

Tough result today but having a peak at the GobblingCock forum puts things in perspective, they are absolutely losing the plot right now

Can we please not blame the ref FFS
He was bad but we were even more shit, stop making excuses. It's not an indictment of the squad, injuries and fatigue are taking their toll... but we laid an egg today. It happens

Thank **** God Chelsea won tonight

Down 2 goals in the 1st leg with 12 minutes left is not the time to raise the white flag for the team to see.
The side have shown their human side by **** it up. Unai is within his rights to be upset about it...

Yeah we have checked out after the pen miss
It's cooked

So obvious he would miss that **** sake

I wouldnt call any of the 3 non-pen goals soft. But Emi gets at least one of them. That's a **** fact

Gonna be honest, if Spurs turn it around tonight it's gonna be squeaky bum time for 4th... we're probably more knackered as they are, as bad as they look. It is what it is, the lack of a quality second string always shows at the business end of the season.

Leverkusen are incredible. They were facing their first loss of the season and just equalised in the last minute of injury time.
Second weekend in a row they've scored a stoppage time equalizer, they really want that invincible season don't they

Let's be honest here, Cov would've been dicked by City and I think somehow, watching United celebrate like they just won the WC after barely clinching pens against a midtable Championship side they blew a 3-0 lead against is more embarrassing than if they had lost the damn thing. Crazy how similar Chelsea is to United; aimless and without a plan or identity, even with Palmer dragging them kicking and screaming I don't see them making a genuine run for a top 4 any time soon
I've said it before but if Liverpool bottle replacing Klopp the Prem is wide open in a way it's never been before, except ofc 115 FC. But no one cares about them lol

Good news for is that there's an increasingly likely chance that Burnley still has all to play for when they play Spurs in the penultimate matchday

If we can't handle ET in a knockout round game what the **** point is there in being in the damn Champs League to begin with?! Get a grip people.

Despite by bemusement at our performance, this is a proper European tie and its so wonderful seeing the Villa be a part of it. Ajax felt flat because of how awful they've been this season, but this is something else. Lille have shown up to win, and the atmosphere is thick with tension.
Long may it continue.

I completely forgot the game was on at 6GMT, just tuned in and...
How bad is it? Flukey goal or are we being done in?

The pass he played for Watkins' goal was just superb. Class

As much as City's cheat-driven dominance has soured the feel of the PL lately, the truth is that the race for European places is as wide open as its ever been. If Liverpool don't get this right and cock it up like MU and Chelsea have, the Prem might be set for an unprecedented level of competition amongst the European places which is only good for everyone involved.
Now if only they can get the cheats kicked out of the league

Seen this on the Gooners forum:
"Emery genuinely seems like a good man. I really don’t get that vibe with Arteta or his friend pep"
Even they see the value in having a manager who carries himself with esteem and isn't a total bellend. How ironic when you consider where Arsenal would be if they had given Emery the time and budget they've given Arteta. And deep down the Arse fans know it.
