So basically the season rests on Man. City beating Spurs.

That's really not a bad place to be in at all.

Even if Spurs play out of their skins and get a draw (and pretty much hand Arsenal the title) we'd then just need a point on the final day.

We don't even need that unless there's an enormous GD swing

    I. Just can't understand how long it takes to draw the bloody lines.

The pitch is 60 plus metres across. I'm always amazed then manage to do it so quickly, and then erase the blue  and red lines again before play restarts. Witchcraft

  3. I'm  a little surprised if Richard Parker has won. Don't  get me wrong, he was great in Life of Pi, but I didn't think people would be able to see past his dangerous tendencies and long stripy tale. Just goes to show, we are a tolerant  bunch in the West Mids.

Every metro mayor is different because it depends on what deal your local authorities came to with the government when the combined authority was set up.

Just as an example of that (and how f***ing stupidly this was set up) - ULEZ type zones….

Greater Manchester  - combined authority responsibility, One giant area, one fee per day

Merseyside - no we're not giving our power away, Six councils, Six fees per day

(neither of which are currently in force but that’s what the outcome will be)

That does sound a dog's dinner, but theoretically  (and it is only a theory), if you don't like what the mayor and or councillors are doing, they can be voted out. Local/regional politicians get greater powers, but also should get greater scrutiny/accountability  (though a weakness we have is a decent local press and or civic institutions to help coordinate this)

Edit: case in point  - Ben Houchen oversees what looks like corruption and nepotism on a large scale at TVCA, doesn't  get anywhere near enough scrutiny. and is rewarded  with reelection.

But I suppose at least it's decent local cronyism and grift for local  businesses as opposed to the national level stuff we have seen with award of covid contracts

waiting for a delivery from DHL

16:53 I receive an email to say we've delivered your parcel and its been signed for by Lesley

well that bit could be true , but they don't work here , nor do we have a warehouse which is in the delivery proof picture you took and sent me

there is an estate on the back of us so I wandered around there , found a company that has a shutter door so tried my luck

someone answered and said nope they didn't' receive any DHL delivery today  , now as he's talking to me right behind him is a bright orange trolley type thing with a blue and yellow bucket thingy on top of it

Its EXACTLY the same as the one in the picture DHL sent me when they said they delivered my parcel

I've put it back in the hands of DHL but i guess this bloke decided he really wanted 40 packets of Albert Haijn Paprika crisps from the Netherlands

if DHL don't rectify it on Tuesday , i guess I'm gonna have to go around there and torch his building or kill his first born child or something  , that seems a  proportional response to his theft ..right ?

Not particularly poetic though.  I think force feeding crisps through a funnel until death - foie grass style - would be more appropriate

The mayoral election turnouts seem disappointingly low. It hasn't exactly brought in an increase of civic engagement.  Maybe shows how centralised the media landscape is. Apart from some mayoral debates on the been you would be struggling to see them mentioned anywhere.

The media, yes, but also our tax system,  government control and economy. When you start to see regional mayors get real spending and other powers, that might change

    https://terminator.fandom.com/wiki/Terminator_Dog

"In RoboCop vs. The Terminator timeline, Skynet have developed four types of Terminator Dog"

The Boston Dymamics dog always reminds me of the mechanical hounds in  Fahrenheit 451. There's also that  killer robot  dog episode in Black Mirror. As with many new technologies, the manufacturer will wax lyrical about all the amazing possibilities, but I don't think it's too Freudian to say that at some point people will reduce it to either sex or killing (obviously just the killing in this case 😀)

Emery dropped a bollock by not picking Pau or not bringing him on at half time. But as he’s said very clearly we are prioritizing the league so if we beat Brighton we can’t really complain.

Think it's  also worth bearing in mind that a lot of teams who qualify for Europe for the first time (or first time in a while) tend to struggle in the league, even if their cup form is decent. In recent years,  can think of Wolves, West Ham and Brighton who have all dropped off in the league  the season after qualifying.  We have done better in the league, as well as getting to a European semi final. Feels like we are very up and down at the moment, but that is some achievement.

And I don't see the semi final as being over by any means. Beat Brighton on Sunday and we can throw the kitchen sink at the second leg.

    Just had a little look.

    **** me, you’re not wrong.

Just as an indication of the mood over there - on a forum for a side currently fifth in the Premier League - a thread has been created this evening entitled “Would you take relegation if it meant new owners and a fresh start?”

And it seems like one or two feel there’s merit in the proposal.

Well, I mean it worked for us...

Might this come under one of those “to any reasonable person” things?

Like if I flash my dick at someone but it’s actually a plastic dick, I could still get done for indecency or whatever the charge would be. Even though I didnt actually flash anything. Or if I held someone at gunpoint but it was a replica gun, I’d still get done for it

Things I'm  wondering now... is your dick a plastic dick?

But maybe his moonlighting is why it looks like his legs have gone, he's just knackered all the time.

And then you start to think,  is it just two leagues? Or is it one for each day of the week? Slight Craig David vibes (though to give him his due, David was at least monogamous within the period of a week, and did take Sunday off).

Looks like he's been playing quite regularly in Saudi.

Maybe we will get an offer if anyone wants a big name.

His book value is about £8m now and you can subtract whatever loan fee we got from that.

With a bit of luck and a fair wind we might even get a FFP profit and his wages off the books.  Qatar or MLS?

Another year in Saudi won't harm us either.

Do his club know he's  been playing in Saudi? Can't see them being too happy about it

The media delusion continues.  In that article it says "they are now virtually certain to miss out on a place in the Champions League"

Must be using rugby rules this year. Bonus point win incoming due to VAR.

If English clubs did get a 5th place, they could still qualify,  but it's  a very long shot both that there is a 5th spot and they overtake Spurs,  so I'd say the article is spot on
