  1. i cant believe wht just read onteletext - chairman not interviewing a candidate because of fan forum views! what power! well done randy - i think he is really looking for the right person but there arent that many out there currently. where is a young graham taylor when you need him?

  2. i think a lot of us villa fans are hoping for a reincarnation of sir bobby, ron saunders, bill shankly and jock stein! it just isnt going to happen! unless the general has been working on some secret military regeneration activities! i will be happy with moyes or hughes!

  3. poyet would be an interesting one. he certainly has a positive aura about him and is a character which would endear him he was also a good player and has served his time well as assistant manager/coach and now manager at brighton - would he be a paul ince a la blackburn or would he be a beautiful success? he would be a good choice too!

  4. george graham? lets go back to the 80s! surely theres a manager out there with absoltue passion for the villa who can mould a team to share that desire...it is a massive decision but i dont think houllier/GMAC are the men unfortunately for them.

  5. we wont get relegated i think the point took us just over the finish line. we need some whole sale changes and some new impetus and some passion and some noise and some fun. it seems to have all got a bit serious. downing is trying, alby just needs to relax and next season will be his! a lot of the old guard inc petrov can go, they wont be missed but will be remembered, afterall petrov did so well to battle back and become captain after an pretty dismal start to his villa career. it reminds me a litte of little's first season in charge where we scraped through and then big changes were made!

  6. would be happy with lambert - no doubt would be a risk but he would be hungry and has done as good a job as he could with tbh anorwich team that does not really have any superstars in it unlike other champ teams (QPR, Cardiff, Swansea, Forest). He's snuck in there and got them playing to there absolute potential and he also has done good in the derbies with Ipswich which is never a bad thing o do good at!

i suppose it depends if he would meet with lerner's philosophy - gerard could be in charge of overall strategic player development! (whatever that would be!)

  7. no one has yet to mention the football management dream team that would be steve staunton, tony adams and john barnes. by the power of greyskull harnessing those three managerial brains could be a work of genius!

seriously my choice would probably be betwixt Hughes, Pulis, Lambert, Poyet or Jol. sure would be interesting to do the interviewing. if mourinho really wanted to prove himself again and give himself a renaissance winning things with the villa would make him more of a fottballing legend than winning things at real or anyhwere else (i.e. man u etc obviously if he went to Shrewsbury and took them to european glory that would be more impressive)

I think we just have to sit tight, get the point against wigan (we are rubbish against them at home usually) and see what happens this summer. gary mac has to go though as does GH for his health.

  8. porto were awesome the other night possibly the most exciting team in europe this season (not inc barca obv). he would be the only foreig manager i would appoint as he seems to have the necessary fire and hunger. otherwise i would have hughes - he is a tenacious character but has the skills to manage and we would give him that higher platform to again compete with man city. appointing him would prob mean out current squad would play much better.

  9. frank barson would not be allowed wihtin 5 miles of any football ground in modern football! a unique part of villa's history. i really though do think Jean II will be very useful next season. he will work brilliantly with milner! (swap back for ireland - no cash! wishful thinking...)

  10. perhaps itll be next season when he sparks to life. we have this with the new midfielder each season.petrov was given the thumbs down, as was milner (albeit briefly) and even downing. perhaps this time next season he will be the main man...time will tell!

  11. Aston Villa have dropped more points (23) from winning positions than any other team. They would be third in the league table with those additional points. the bbc know how to rub salt into the wounds! i think the scarf thing is a good idea although it might be a tad warm around the neck. we just need to do everything we can to win and if it helps then brilliant. i mean we would be third if we could keep our leads!
