  1. Agreed Silva is a good fighter but how effective he will be in the UFC with the extra rules and the claustrophobia that the octagon causes is yet to be seen. He's still young enough to do it though, despite 3 straight losses. It was his lack of a gameplan which suprised me, Jardine showed how to neutralise Chuck but Silva didn't seem to have taken what happened in that fight on board... he seemed to be in awe of Chuck and the occasion where as Chuck (obviously) felt right at home.

Lesnar vs Mir is interesting but Mir has looked a shadow of his former self... it's a miracle he's still fighting at all after his accident. I've never had an interest in wrestling so i don't know a huge amount about Lesnar but it will be interesting to see how he adapts to mma

I can't see the Fedor/Couture happening and to be honest I'm not sure i want to see it. Randy's previous couple of fights have been brilliant in the sense that he had a gameplan and executed it to perfection. A real life Rocky story... whatever happens with the contractual situation won't change what he has achieved... but by the time the dispute is sorted i'm not sure he will be able to compete with Fedor, he seems to be heading into Hollywood and once he does that i think his fighting career is over.

I'm looking forward to Evan Tanner's return, after everything he's been through it will be interesting to see if he can still compete, i have the feeling Okami with prove too much too soon

  2. I'm a big MMA fan and enjoyed UFC79,

I was dissapointed with the Chuck v Silva fight, it was a just a slug fest which was reminiscent of fights of 10 years ago, two guys swinging for the fences with little to no subtlety or game plan.

GSP can go on to dominate the WW division for years to come imo, that's twice now he's torn Hughes apart and don't see anyone who can stop him... as long as he keeps his head right that is.

And it was great to see that word removed Melvin taken out... again... hopefully thats the end for him because his attitude is not what the sport needs.

It's a shame Fedor has signed with K1, his fight with Hong Man Choi last night was just embarrassing

It was just a freakshow, which of course Fedor won by armbar in round one.

  3. Though 'So What' by the Anti Nowhere League would be good for when we play Chelsea Man Utd redscouse etc ;)

Do you not think the lyrics to that may be a tad.... um... offensive to a great number of people!

The language in that song makes rantin' sound like Sir (spit) Cliff

  4. I think Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath... but only for night games.

Imagine the scenario, we see the teams in the tunnel on the video-screens, the music starts and the floodlights go out, the sound of rain, thunder and church bells... then as the players enter the pitch the floodlights flash and those 3 notes start playing... that would really put the s**ts up the opposing team...

Now i understand this may not be possible due to health and safety, etc.... but.... if it was.... :-D

  5. I voted good. A very good signing as far as the squad goes, If we bring in another striker with decent pedigree (keane, bellemy etc.) i may even be tempted to call it an excelent signing. If we can get 2-3 decent years out of him (ala merson, dublin) then i'll be very happy.

I just hope that he is a squad filler and not one of the "quality" signings DOL was harping on about oh so many moons ago.

  6. to be honest he is better than some prem strikers and someone hopefully not us will give him a chance.

I would say we've given him more than a fair chance... And in my opinion he has failed to show he is better than any other premiership striker, infact he's looked worse than most (if not all)

I'm sure someone will take Cole next season, probably Fulham or Palace (if they stay up) He must play well in London because was so highly thought of there

  7. Of those, a toss up between Batman Begins and Sin City.

What i'm really looking forward to though is

    Clerks 2

    Untitled Spike Jonze/Charlie Kaufman Project

    Untitled Quentin Tarantino Project

Knowing my luck all three will be pushed back to 2006.

I see pretty much everything that comes out, usually my favorite movies are ones that i wouldn't expect to like (Garden State, Closer, Butterfly Effect are good examples of this).

  8. Ooh, interesting how Carlton is no longer flavour of the month since its become clear he's going in january....

I personally don't know if he will go back in jan...

Why would Chelski take back Cole when they could go out and buy any striker in the world?

Its no coincidence that his form has dipped dramaticaly since the rumours of his return to chelsea surfaced.

As far as i'm concerned (i can't speak for anyone else) i've always been dubious about Carlton, mainly because of his problems off the field last year...

I don't want anyone remotely associated with those kind of actions pulling on a Villa shirt...

Maybe i should have stated my case earlier, but don't confuse my opinions with the knee jerk reactions (i sound like rodney marsh) of other villa fans.

  9. imagine what our defence would be like without him. It doesn't bare thinking about.

I think the last 30 mins against the slum dwellers last week showed us what it's like without him!

I have to say from the list he's the only choice, that shows how poor GT's signings were! Look at the difference between those and DOLs signings... Big difference!
