  1. Im not convinced by Anderson nor Nani but then i suppose he'll turn out like Christiano Ronaldo.

I have to go along with LukeMoore's opinion, Jez you do seem to rule out any link regardless if there's any validity to it, all because you seem to want to say i told u so.

I await some action nxt week. I haven't expected much at all. Have a look at the sort of teams that are moving and then have alook at who's moving. Liverpool were the only big team to make any moves and they brought in a load of youth players.

  2. dogey do do

anyway, McShane was again at RB today (contrary to a belief of a few here) he's far more accumplished as a RB then CB. He got took off when the game was safe.

There's some remarkable 'name' players being banded around here.

Arteta would be a very nice signing and personally for where we want to be going, we should be buying players from teams like everton and spurs. Why buy from the middle tier when we have the finances to go higher.

    Quick 'realistic' suggestions from me:

    Blackburn: McCarthy, MGP and Bentley.

    Bolton: Nolan.

    Charlton: Young and D.Bent.

    Everton: Fernandez and Arteta.

    Fulham: Rosenior.

    Liverpool: Bellamy.

    Man City: Distin and Barton.

    Man Utd: Smith.

    Newcastle: Milner

    Portsmouth: Taylor.

    Reading: Sidwell and Doyle.

    Spurs: Huddlestone.

    Wigan: Baines and Scharner.

  3. On football365.com, kepa blanco, sevilla's striker currently on loan at whu, claims that Villa, portsmouth, newcastle and man city have offered him a chance to play for them next season.

    What aload of Mar-Mite

why oh why would we ever go for this guy? not just press, but some fellow fans aswell need to wake up and smell the coffee, we dont need to be looking at crap fringe players who cant hold down a starting place in a relegation fighting teams! we should be looking at world class players.. afterall whos to say we cant attract big names! we have everything - the money, the new facilities, manger etc!. The worlds our oyster!

I just find all mentions of players like, Marlon Harewood, Marlon King, Kepa Blanco, Emile p1551ng heskey!!!!, mark viduka etc. none of these players can offer anything to our club in our attempts of acheiving what we have set out to do imo!

You would think "The guy that invented the bicycle kick" was still at the helm!

After signing Ashley Young for £10m and Carew. Do you really see us signing relegated clubs fringe players.

    Agent talk. Thats all.

  4. We seem to have flavour of the months, i bet if you looked throughout this thread, you'd find various players suggested then a bunch of people talking him up and then someone else sugests another player and the same talking up happens to that player.

The options for RB's are limited, i find it hard to believe we'll sign someone foreign so that leaves only a few options in reality. Luke Young, Micah Richards and Paul McShane.

As for midfielders, i said in an earlier post, i don't think we'll sign a 'specific' midfielder. All rounders is what we'll see from now on if the current midfield is anything to go on.

  5. Let me rephrase myself;

McShane hardly is the player we should be gambling on since he CLEARLY isn't proven on this level.

We aren't in a position where we can give every decision the benefit of the doubt. We have money now,

it doesn't mean we are going to throw it on everything we see, but it also mean we have the luxury to

be more selective and thus spend on the best we can get.

Isn't the expression "if he isn't good enough for United then he isn't good enough for us" still in use?

Ok, i'll counter that with the opinion of a fellow poster.

a lot have been impressed with McShane and think Fergie made a big mistake

personally i believe in MON's ability to spot a player, I've been happy with what he's brought in so far. All of his permanent signings are showing real promise and even Petrov now he's been given alittle more licence to roam with the prolonged absence of McCann.

I think for a good few seasons MON will be able to spend what he likes on who he likes, McShane has promise and with him only being 23 he's got plenty of time to mature.

Given that MON has been to watch Albion alot this season i'd be suprised if we didn't sign someone from Baggies. Whatever you think of our local rivals, they have some real talent down there. Koumas for instance is by a mile the best midfielder out of the prem and could probably run a midfield in the premiership if accomodated.

That leads me onto another point.

    Juan Román Riquelme

offer him £120,000 a week, £4 million signing on fee and pay whatever boca want for him. That'll be the midfield solved... [/dream]

While he was once an outstanding talent, i don't think MON wants a 'sort of midfielder' i think he wants all rounders that can adapt there game to whatever a match entails. I personally don't believe he'll be looking for a specific 'Defensive' or 'Attacking' midfielder. If you look at Petrov, Barry and Gardner they all put their foot in and can all play abit. Hence the comments about Davis a few weeks ago refering to him changing his game. I think Davis like Barry was 4 years ago is at crossroads as to what type of player he wants to be, weather he wants to get his shorts dirty of if he's going to be a luxury player that has to be accomodated.

  6. McShane hardly has the quality we should be looking for. I would take Curtis Davies as he is both playing and a good header, but I wouldn't touch anyone else from WBA.

Being in Norway i don't really think you can be a judge of McShanes quality.

I've watched Albion nearly as much as villa this season. (maybe 20 times each). IMO he is a real prospect and doesn't carry the nievity that Curtis Davies does. Despite the bigger reputation, Davies jst lacks something when compared to mcshane, on top of that McShane has a versatility of being comfortable at RB and CB.

I think he'd be purchased as a RB.

Given the things i've heard, it's pretty much expected he'll be signing for villa. All the Baggies fans i know are pretty much resigned to losing him especially after they're season has petered out.

I wish people would give players the benefit instead of doing a search on Football Manager and calling a player shit.

  7. Some of the suggestions on here are barmy, some are pure fiction, some are pure fantasy and some are pure Football Manager wishes.

Tevez (looks good in a relegation threatened team)

    Neill (Ditto)

Some of the ranting and raving over foreign players is also rather bizarre, especially as MON isn't known for purchasing players who aren't already tested in a similar league to what he's managing in.

On the Subject of Paul McShane, i've heard he's ours, a done deal rather aslong as Baggies don't go up, otherwise he'll see out his contract there.

I've been very impressed with McShane, he's got experience that makes him a better option than Bardsley and holds alot of promise and potential. On top of this he's got this great determination and tenacity that is needed in our team aswell as alot of self confidence. He would be a welcome aquisition IMO.

But then again it's jst my opinion, i don't think he's all that good on FootballManager. :?
