  1. Koumas and Bellamy, or Sneijder and Huntelaar? I know which pair I'd choose to pursue and I also think our credibility as an ambitious club depends on positive media reaction to our signings.

Huntelaar you're kidding right?. Isnt Sneijder primarily a left winger which we dont need?. People need to get a sense of perspective. It's amazing that if a player linked to Villa isnt some world star he's slagged off to high heaven. where the hell has all this bullshit come from?.

Plus Sneijder plays in the middle for Ajax and he can play on left on occasion. Lets say for arguments sake Huntelaar and Sneijder are out of reach. That still doesn't make Championship players any more desirable. Spurs should be our barometer in that they are a big club without Champs League and with money to spend. Whilst Koumas is a good player he's a Middlesbrough level player at best. You dont need to be a world star to get the pulse racing but you do need to have a certain level of ability.

I think posters have already ably demonstrated that he is a good player. Read back and learn.

    Read back and learn what?

Are you trying to tell me that Spurs did not buy players from the Championship?

I'm trying to tell you Spurs never bought 27 yo players from the championship. They bought young prospects.

correct me if i'm wrong but didn't Spurs buy quite a few of their players from championship clubs ?

    Dawson

    Huddlestone

    Lennon

    Bale

    Robinson (possibly?)

surely, the only criteria for signing a player should be for thinking he's good ? what league he plays in has no bearing on it at all

You're right they were championship players except for Robinson. Dawson was 21, Huddleston was 20, Lennon was 18, Bale is 17 Koumas is 28 in September.

  5. Jenas is a luxury player. He swans around and has very good feet but your spot on Patrick, he's ineffective. On villatalk I think we have a habit of overating foreign talents like ribery, van der vaart and juninho pernambucano, saying they are out of villa's league yet we underate many english talents like NRC. The foriegn players I've mentioned are very good players but they play in a weaker league. NRC has two full seasons in the prem, one very good, one below par as well as some championship experience. I think he'll learnt some valuable llessons this year and could be a very useful addition to our squad.

  6. Robinson is a decent player however this is allied to the fact that he is a bigger clearing in the woods than Craig Bellamy.

I always thought he was a decent player, may be good for backup. But why is he a clearing in the woods? Sorry if i have miss anything cos i just dunno the guy apart from when he is playing.

Hates the Villa, goes round smashing people during derbies to prove he's committed! When I say smashing people I dont mean tough tackling. I mean genuine attempts to injure opponents. Ask Michael Kightley and Damien Johnson.

  7. Phone conversation i just had with the belfry staff.

Receptionsist: Good Afternoon De Vere's Belfry Tiffany speaking.

Me: Hello, erm I'm entirely aware that you are unable to confirm or deny guests, but let me say this. If that useless shite Bramble isnt out of the hotel in the next 20 mins you will suffer a catastrophic fire causing millions of pounds worth of damage. I will then pass on your name to the management as someone who could have stopped this disaster.

Receptionist: I'll just go and tell him to **** off sir....

    Receptionist:Hello sir?

    Me: Yes?

Reception: Thanks for holding. Mr Bramble, Mr Bruce and Ms. Brady have now left the building.

    Me:Doh!

  8. The only concern I would have with NRC is attitude. He's good enough to play for Villa and I think he'd get in the side ahead of Gardner at the present time. I'm not gonna get involved in comparisons because I dont think NRC and Gardner are mutually exclusive. They would both have a role to play in improving AVFC's performance.

  9. "So because France got invaded a couple of times in the 20th century* then nasty old France is a windup merchant and shouldn't have upset dear old Kaiser Bill and that nice little Austrian corporal and it was their fault the Hun jackboot kept kicking them in the teeth? Oooh that Riise must be a bastard for getting beaten up twice. There's no smoke without fire."

    "Ooh I know, Mrs Wormells"

    * yes I know they surrender like lightning

Imagine my suprise. OF picks on something I've said. Just for a change.

  10. MON likes Bellamy and Bellamy very much respects and likes MON. I think the 12m fee is paper talk to be honest. It'll be less than that I reckon.

Besides, any player that turns down a move to the stydwellers, texting Souness and Fat Freddy saying 'I'm Craig Bellamy and I don't sign for shit football clubs' is well on the way to being a Villa legend already if he signs!

I've met Bellamy and although he didnt do anything in particular I didnt like him. He whacked Riise with a golf club right? Sweet little butter wouldnt melt riise? The same Riise that Carew saw fit to batter. Me thinks Riise has a habit of winding up people he shouldn't. Anyone who has the gall to wind up a beast like Carew is perfectly capable of setting off a firebrand like Bellamy. Carew has a past and we love him. Mellberg and Ljungberg kicked off yet olly has never been an ounce of trouble at the villa. Plus Barry can utilise his peace keeping skills like he did at newcastle. :D

  11. Just cos we cant think of a better alternative than Distin doesnt mean MON cant. I'm with Richard. I havent seen any business yet that has made me envious or frustrated.

PS According to the Mirror, Taylor is gonna cost 5m.

I have a couple of good mates who are Man City season ticket holders and they haven't been impressed with Distin for the last couple of seasons." Lazy, uncommitted, mistake ridden and temperamental" is their view of him and they definitely did not want him to sign a new contract. Apparently the way he's played against us recently is the exception not the norm, they also say that Dunne is a much better Cb.

He is also 30yrs old in december and maybe Mon has someone younger and more ambitious in mind.

Spot on mate. MON didnt fancy him and thats good enough for me.

  12. If Taylor is being bought as a left back, then that suggests Villa will be playing an expansive, attacking game under O'Neill.

I'm sure he's played most of his recent football on the left of midfield.

I think he'll be coming as a 'first teamer' not as a specific leftback or left mid if that makes sense. If the kind of players we have been linked with are true MON will not stick to '2 players for every position'. It all seems to be players that can move around.

    Maloney-Any attacking position

    Young-Any attacking position

Barry-Anywhere across the midfield +left back(only if absolutely neccessary)

    Taylor?-Left back or Left Mid

    Gabby-Any attacking position

    Gardner-Centre mid/right mid

Every target seems to be a player who fits this mould. Under DOL we had the same 11 every week playing the same system. MON seems to me to be facilitating a squad that can adapt to varying scenarios.

If he came I think Taylor would get at least 20 appearences here and there.
