  1. Don't mean to nag but people really need to stop talking about him going to Everton in January or us signing permanently for £7.5mil in Jan/end of season.

We have him for the season and his contract is up at the end of it, we'll be paying Man Utd nothing in January in our current state.

He's going to have played for 2 clubs and he can't play for 3 in 1 season so if he goes to Everton he'll be forced to play for the under 21s till next august which he wouldn't agree to imo

So we've got him for the year for sure, then let's see how he performs and where we are in terms of ownership next summer and decide what we do with him then. Until that time we've got much needed competition in the midfield and I feel very confident about our squad as it stands.

He is, like every other signing, a player who has become a bit of a joke in the footballing world and has a lot of critics to shut up. Let's hope he does it, and Cissokho, Senderos and Richardson continue to do it

Do loans count? Tom Lawrence played for 3 clubs in the 13/14 season.

  2. Seems it a deadline to some, guideline to others. Haven't got Falcao signed by the deadline time then it should be a case of tough titties.

Except it is the same for all and was even explained on Sky Sports News yesterday. If you have the transfer sheet filed by the 11:00 deadline then you have an hour for international deals and an extra 2 hours for domestic deals to be finalized. It isn't different rules for all, it is the same rule of get the transfer sheet in by 11:00 and you'll get the extension to finalize the deal. If you don't submit the transfer sheet then it is tough titties. In this case, United submitted the transfer sheet.

  3. Twitter rumours suggest their bid for Danny blind has been successful - hope this is true as will surely put the vlaar rumour mongering to bed.

Although they're struggling to get a work permit for rojo....

Blind is best as a DM and can play as a LB, won't have anything to do with signing another CB or not.

    So

    Shaw

    Rojo

    Blind

I make that about £70m on left backs.

Have LVG and Lambert ever worked together?  :detect:

Blind is best as a DM and his agent has said he will be playing there. Rojo is also a CB.

  4. Gibson to me is just a one trick pony. Cleveley was very good while on loan at Wigan. an 8 mil bid does show some ambition.

What would that one trick be?

The general consensus among Everton fans is they don't want him they want him to come here and believe Gibson is a better player who they paid a mere 500k for

United fans are saying that Gibson is a much better player than Cleverely on Redcafe

Tbh that doesn't mean much as Clevs is the current scapegoat and well as a member of Redcafe I can say that over half the post are beyond stupid. Go back to when Gibson was being sold and you'll have half the posts saying he's League 1/2 standard.

The general consensus I found on Everton forums last year was that James McCarthy wasn't good enough for them and they didn't want him. Fair to say most of them are clueless too.

LOL, Gibson has done bugger all at Everton. I'm no huge fan of Cleverly but he's an obvious scapegoat for United fans.

Gibo was fantastic for his first season and a half at Everton. He was a key player in their run of 14 or so matches undefeated with him in the side. For the 12/13 season they also won 52% of the matches he played in while only one 25% of those he didn't feature in. Unfortunately it is injuries that have kept him on the sidelines for so long.

  5. First you say you can not comment because you have never seen Rojo play at CB but then you go and make judgments on him and compare him to other players. Of all the forums I have been on, Con you are in the running for the worst poster I have ever seen.

  6.

    Where was James Wilson

    He's injured.

That first 11 they put out today was laughable for a club of their stature, it's the sort of thing we've been doing the last few years, filling it with unproven youth and so on.

I've said they'll finish top 4 but no chance with nonsense like Lingard and Blackett playing, they need to be sent packing and some proper signings need to be made in those positions.

And what was LVG doing signing autographs right after the final whistle, gives the impression he's on a retirement holiday here.

Nonsense like Blackett? Clearly you didn't watch the match or any of the pre-season matches. He's been the best centre half during the tour and didn't do much wrong yesterday and was much better than Smalling. He is fantastic on the ball and is extremely composed with great passing out from the back. In no way does he need to be sent packing. Marcos Rojo is close to signing and they will share the LCB role.

  7.

    You're Canadian?

His school was unbelievably good. Cyle, Keven Aleman (was at Real Valladolid but just signed for Herediano in Costa Rica. Never played for the school team though), Alex Halis, Chris Nanco (both underage Canadian internationals and both at Syracuse now), and litte Osorio (in Uruguay at Nacional). Have to say Brampton is undoubtedly the best town in Canada at footballer.

I saw a soccer centre in Brampton so went down to check it out and show them how it's done.

    Unfortunately it was closed.

The one on Sandalwood and Dixie? It is only used during the winter for 6-aside. Are you from around Brampton?

Yeah I think that's the one. Why is it only used in Winter?

My in-laws live there so went a couple of years back. Nice place.

    Is that where you are?

In the summer we just play outdoors. They are only small 6-aside pitches so not many people would play it over full 11-aside pitches outside during the summer. I think they turn some of the pitches into basketball courts during the summer actually.

Yeah I live quite close to that soccer centre.

  9. Tyler Blackett has started a few games for them in pre season, played tonight. Left footed CB.

What's amusing about this is talking to a few SHA mates and they all mentioned him as the worst loan they had last season of the 364 loans they had.

What did any of them make of Tom Thorpe? Unfortunately his spell there was interrupted with an injury about 10 minutes in. Personally from watching the U21s I always thought he looked a bit better than Michael Keane who has had a few successful loans in the Championship.

  10. Talks of Marcos Rojo being signed too.

Blackett's emergence in pre-season has come as a bit of a surprise to all fans of the club. Michael Keane and Tom Thorpe were rated much higher. Keane had a good tour and Blackett was even better. Van Gaal favours having a left footed CB and has already said Blackett is capable of playing at the top level but he just doesn't know if he can play every week. Blackett's main problem has always been a lack of focus, he'd switch off to often and be caught out. The new 3 at the back system seems to fit him perfectly too as he has some clear deficiencies in a two-CB pair and at LB.

  11. You're Canadian?

His school was unbelievably good. Cyle, Keven Aleman (was at Real Valladolid but just signed for Herediano in Costa Rica. 12. The number 2 ranked player for the 2015 draft when to my rival school. Was highly rated for the 2014 draft too but decided not to sign. Name is Cyle Larin, never played for the Canadian under age teams and wasn't rated as one of the best few at the school. Was fast as **** though and a nightmare to play against. Their whole teams was amazing but trying to track his runs was killer, I remember taking his legs out a few times as I simply couldn't keep up with his pace.

  13. Well apparently Hummels is going to sign for them if the reports are true. Probably one of the best center backs currently playing would be coming to Manchester. Plus apparently Vidal listen his home up for sale so something might be happening there? I assumed Vidal would be sold after Juve's manager quit.

I keep seeing them linked with so many players but who have they signed other than Shaw for a ridiculous fee?

    Ander Herrera

  14. With Van Gaal's preference to mould youth I think we may be seeing some of Ben Pearson and Joe Rothwell this season in the midfield. Ben is a energetic and feisty little lad and loves scrapping it out. The past year he played a more disciplined sitting role focusing on covering the back four but in 2012/13 for the U18s he had more freedom and showed great ability on the ball and an eye for a pass winning academy play of the year. Joe missed most of the 12/13 season with illness and injury but he had probably a better 13/14 season than Ben Pearson. A box-to-box player with a great burst of pace allowing him to make darting runs through the middle.

Here is a video of Pearson putting in a great display against a midfield of Moussa Dembele and Bentaleb. (Check the uploader for more videos of United's youth players)

  15. Kieran Richardson? We are his 5th Premier League-club and he has never made it in the Premier League. He showed some form for Sunderland at times, but that is years ago.

I am fairly happy with Richardson, given his energy and the fact that we have piss-poor left-backs in our squad. This is what we have to work with - and given Lambert's poor

record with foreign scouting, I am happy with going with something safe, albeit not very good.

How has he never made it in the Premier League? Playing his whole career in the Premier League would point to him in fact making it in the Premier League.

Roy Keane was probably a big part of this move as they played together at United and Keano brought Richardson into Sunderland.

  16. Apparently Cortese designed it along with several others, seems to be a bit of confusion as to whether that one is the winner or one of his other designs.

Cortese left in January. Why would he be designing the kits?

  17.

A Spurs supporting friend sent me this from one of their forums:

“Villa have a young teenage lad that apparently every agent in the land is trying to get their hands on, but his old man is having none of it. Very, very special was the verdict from them all, and apparently miles ahead of his age group(and not just in this country).”

    No idea who they mean.

    Kevan?

He supports Spurs so 98% sure he is talking shite.

    No offence mate.

...more than likely Jack, the fact a talent like he is entering the last year of his contract speaks volumes at how this club is being run at the moment. Let's hope Jack and his family don't feel messed about and start looking at the tons of options he would have available to him in a years time.

Players under the age of 18 can only sign 2 year contracts max I believe.

    Can I be Jack's agent?

  18. Hey, mass emigration happened for a reason, you know. It wasn't to seek a better living or build America or any of that old shite. It was to ensure a better quality of footballer played for the 'mother country' a few generations down the line. Now, the Yanks turned out to be useless, and we didn't quite make a breakthrough in Brazil, so the English and Scots had to do.

You got that right. Football will never be bigger than the GAA in Ireland so we have to build up our football infrastructure globally. It is quite a revolutionary plan really.

  19. MON is meant to be going to the Villa v Spurs match tomorrow. Going to try get Naughton and Kane to play for England. Reports earlier of trying to get Wickham to play for us and Patrick Bamford would be a good one to try get back too. May as well try get Michael and Will Keane while we're at it.
