  1. Bradley vs Abregu is back on for July 17th. Made the most sense.

WBO/WBA lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez, to this day, thinks Manny Pacquiao is running away from a trilogy meeting. They fought to a controversial draw in 2004 and Pacquiao won a controversial split-decision in the 2008 rematch. Marquez is preparing for his rematch with Juan Diaz on July 31.

If Marquez beats Diaz, he wants to fight....you guessed it....Manny Pacquiao. Marquez told Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer that he wants a trilogy fight with Pacquiao.

"I told Richard, I want to fight Pacquiao again but Pacquiao he doesn't want it. He doesn't want to fight me again," Marquez told BoxingScene.com's Ryan Burton.

Pacquiao is the WBO welterweight champion. He is not going to move down in weight. Marquez is at lightweight. He would fight Pacquiao at 140 or some kind of catch-weight but that won't happen. Pacquiao will not budge the weight to favor Marquez. If Marquez wants it, he will have to fight at 147.

"Maybe we could fight at 140 or maybe 141, 142. I know Pacquiao. I know how to fight Pacquiao. I know his style. I know how Pacquiao's style is and I'm always one step ahead of him [when we fight]. I think 70% [the fight won't happen]. Pacquiao is scared of me because he knows who won the fight. Why doesn't he want to fight me?," Marquez told BoxingScene.

  2. Oh shit good point!

Prepare for Rob to come knocking on your door with a meat grinder in the middle of the night, demented look in his eye with leftover cornflakes in his beard.

  3. Exams start 28th may. Oh the joy.

Really struggling with Business A2. (Don't laugh) That said, the grade boundaries are fairly low but still Unit 4 is really tough as it's own research and that requires effort. Also no case study.

Still got business work to do? I finished up with it 2 weeks ago :D

  4. I wonder if Rob ever considered pulping and compressing women to mix his two favourite things into one. Lady Cider!

I genuinely don't think you should have put that idea into his head

  5. What happened in the third round though?

Kevin Mitchell morphed into James Toney and tried to roll with the punches on the ropes like old school JT

Heh heh, that thread "Khan has the style to give Mayweather fits" on ESB :D:D:D

Mayweather takes a look for two rounds, neutralizes Khan in the 3rd and stops him in the 5th if Khan is lucky

If the fight does get negotiated I wonder if Khan will also be magically weakened from a blood test? :winkold:

  6. ^ Deary, deary me

Schaefer is attempting to bring together a super card on Sky Box Office in Cardiff in July, which could include Amir Khan in a late night show, with Calzaghe versus Hopkins as the co-main event.

Calzaghe defeated Hopkins on a split points decision in a Las Vegas superfight with in April 2008, having been put down in the opening round. Hopkins had hyped the fight with the words “I’ll never lose to a white boy”. In a tight decision for Calzaghe, Hopkins ate his words, and has chased a re-match ever since.

Telegraph Sport understands that Schaefer will come to the UK later this month and will discuss plans for Khan and Calzaghe with Barney Francis, managing director of Sky Sports.

“I have spoken to Joe [Calzaghe] several times about fighting Bernard Hopkins in Cardiff. He is ambivalent. Some days he says ‘yes’ he’d like to do it, other days he is not sure if he wants to get back in the ring," Schaefer said.

"There are days when he wants to do it and days he would rather not. Bernard would love to go over to Wales to fight Joe, and I think we could make it a major event there. I think the Welsh public would enjoy a return match, this time in Cardiff.”

However, Calzaghe told Telegraph Sport two weeks ago when he was in Las Vegas for the Shane Mosley-Floyd Mayweather contest: “I am enjoying myself and not really desperate to get back into the ring. I’m not desperate for money. But never say never. This is boxing.”

Calzaghe’s two fights at the Millennium Stadium, for Mikkel Kessler and Peter Manfreddo, drew crowds of more than 50,000.

  7. i think its very harsh and premature to say he has a glass chin, it might not be the best chin in the world

It's not premature tbf, it's a certified biscuit. Moving up in weight (and over to Roach :winkold: ) might have helped a bit but it really is a very bad chin. Nothing he can do about it other than working on not getting hit

  8. That was one hell of a performance from Amir Khan. Very quick, good movement & a very decent defence. Not good enough from Paulie after the 3rd, decence not right for someone with speed like Kahn. He's really come on since going out to LA... Paulie's love & passion just isn't there anymore. A career in TV, film & Jersey Shore beckons & I hate to write him off, I didn't do it after the Hatton fight but I think that's it. It's been one hell of a ride though

  9. Paul is 10's on Betfair on points.

And whilst you're online, what was "GABBYGATE". Those who know don't seem to want to tell!!

Gabby was a very pretty young girl with blue eyes, a winning smile, loved boxing and loved football, had a good sense of humour and posted on a boxing forum. Sounds like the perfect girl, right?

Then she posted a newer picture, she had brown eyes....hmmm. She said it was contacts in the first pic, everybody believed her.

Eventually, Gabby met a guy called Jaycaz. She went into the pub, had a drink and left sharpish. He said the young girl he met sounded completely different to the woman he'd been speaking to on the phone who sounded older. She also didn't know much about this boxing forum. He called her out as a fraud. Gabby then posted pictures of this guy posing in underwear, pictures of him lying in bed topless, poems he'd sent her.......all the guys sided with her and ran him off the forum

Gabby then arranged to meet some more people, but kept letting them down. She started getting very close to another guy on there who thought she was the love of his life. She then made up another story as to why she couldn't meet up with them.....

At this point, they all realised that Gabby was definitely a fraud. And people suspected it was some old woman using pictures of her attractive niece....

The guy who got run off the forum then revealed he'd been posting under a different name all that time and said he was validated.

All the people involved then found the facebook profile of 'Gabby' (the girl in the pics)......

She then basically said she knew who was pretending to be her and that she was a psycho and she was scared of her, so wouldn't reveal who it was.

Eventually the young girl told her mom and dad, who contacted the auntie and told her to stop pretending to be their daughter on the internet....

It was then revealed that Gabby was Paula O'Leary, who you may remember was involved in the childs body parts scandal where basically her son died and they had took his organs......she then lost the plot at this point and hasn't been the same since.

I'd like to clarify that I have nothing to do with this.

  10. 8 standing count surely if you aren't willing to defend yourself

    No such thing these days

Honestly? You can't get an 8 count?

So what should the ref do when a boxer turns his back?

Warn him for turning his back & if he keeps doing it, take a point or stop him. Unified rules have no standing 8's but I think it might be in use at a lower level somewhere

I have no idea what Gabbygate is, certainly didn't involve me

  11. Like Witton said a couple of days ago, Paulie is a tough fighter and has only been stopped once. Khan will be too strong for him though I think and will win on a split decision imo.

Agree with Coops about the Mitchell fight.

Fingers crossed for Mitchell and Paulie. :)

    Never been stopped legitimately tbf.

    Malignaggi UD 8)

  12. Khan win tonight, wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't go further than 5 rounds. And Mitchell-Katsidis to be a 12-round war, Mitchell on points. Fingers crossed for both!!

And when did Khan suddenly develop into this murderous power puncher that people are making him out to be?
