but i feel that ridgewell has more bottle than cahill!!! i find him as more of a leader..

I play centre back for my local pub team and ive always played with one strong defender and one to sweep... i think laursen should be first choice with Ridgewell learning from him and mellberg with cahill learning from him.

I thought last season the past few seasons that Mellbergs biggest problem was that he was going for the first ball where he used to have Alpay,Ronny Johnson etc to do it for him...

So for me its Mellberg/Laursen as first choice with the two young lads filling in and gaining experience when called upon...

Well then I can safely dismiss anything else that comes from TalkSPORT today as they've clearly outdone themselves with that one.

Congratulations to the team (youself, Mr lerner etc etc) for bringing the club upto speed and the majority of fans are under no illusions and do understand it will take time but i can assure you we are all behind you.

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill admits he will try again for Newcastle winger James Milner in January.

"We will be striving in January to try to improve the team," O'Neill said. "We do need to strengthen if you are going to compete. The chairman (Randy Lerner) wants to do that.

'I don't think he wants Villa to be under-achievers and wants to have a go.

'I'm not so sure at the moment if we are in the market for the very best players in the world. That's a different issue.

"But are we going to try to improve the team? Absolutely. And yes, James Milner has been a target of mine in the past and I would like to see him at Villa Park."

this perhaps co-incides with other posts but out of darren bent,robbie keane and jermaine defoe... who would you prefer?????

For me i think Robbie Keane has all the skills but occasional lack of end product where as Defoe has end product but no build up...

Out of the three i'd like Darren Bent - looks a good Presence and also scoring in a s*** team....
