  1. Re: Hogso theory and Dondarion.

    I think Coldhands is a Stark based on a hunch. Just that he says he is Bran's monster. Definitely an ex-Nights Watch, but we are way past that and Jon Snow killed the rebels instead of him.

    Re-comments about Dondarion, I think he's featured as much as he does in the books. After all, Stoneheart only appears twice and briefly so far and Sansa appears to be her embodiment. The grey hood she was wearing when she was calling Ramsay a bastard had, what I imagine, was a nod to that.

  2. Surely we are going to see Lena Hedley's bewbs before the season is out?

    With that story line, I assume we we will see Sir Robert Strong face pop Lancel and the other tooled up Sparows, but does anybody think that this has something to do with the wider plot?

    Wights be making Zombie's and Qyburn seems to have the ability too and there was that odd introduction of all the acolytes in AFFC in Oldtown that didn't seem to go anywhere or serve a wider point.

  3. I'm not disagreeing that the conviction rates for rape should be significantly higher. When I was doing my academic training it was 16%, way below the average of other offences.

    But I don't see why that impacts on he merrits of including the scene. Ramsey is a rapist, we have seen him do it before, it sailed close to the source material and it furthers three plots. I don't think they included it purely for shock value; it could have been a lot more gratuitous and they've done that before.

  4. I don't agree that the rape was unnecessary.

    There are two plot devices in operation, rather than the one in the book. In the book, Theon being forced to sexually assault Jeyne Poole, who Sansa is standing in for, is what ultimately gets him to re-grow some nads.

    If Sansa is also the stand in for Stoneheart, then she needs some skin in the game. She's one of the few Starks to have avoided personal violence and I would imagine this sets up for a culmination of Sansa stabbing the life out of Ramsay, and his clingy bit on the side (who he raped in the last episode), while not clouding your opinion of Sansa.

  5. I think we will be taken over this summer. We are ripe for the plucking when you consider;

    * Avergae age of squad is 26

    * Wage bill to turnover ratio is 62%

    * Hundred million plus turnover

    * Ground capacity is currently only 72% so there is room to increase revenue there (and brought expansion of B6)

    * After the top six in the Premier League, we are he third most watched club in Europe after Real and Bayern Munich

    * We are between £50 to 100 million under priced

  6. Its a pity about Selmy, whose story arc in ADWD was interesting.

    Mormont filling in for Connington. Similar character in some respects, proper moody and an exiled Lord to boot.

    Given who left Castle Black, I think a book theory won't get the chance to be put to the test

  7. It's expensive because you need a constant all year round nuclear deterrent, which means (for us) four boats capable of three months on patrol, carrying a multi-stage delivery system.

    If you're going to have nuclear weapons, and you're a conventional state and therefore have an interest in being here tomorrow, then you will need a second strike capability; that means a hundred plus missiles, hundreds of war heads and multiple platforms. Anything less and you may as well not have them at all.

  8. There is a little part of me that oopes part of this season does drag a bit.

    Having had to plod through A Feast for Crowzzzzzzzzzzz and the simply ballachingly dull

    Iron Islands succession stuff

    you "TV" people with your real tits and flashy CGI stuff should swallow a bit or boredom too.

    /grumpy

    it was balanced out by the feeling that Cerci was going to lez it up with Lady Merryweather at some point. A casual fisting, as it turned out, was a bit of a let down.

    Plus, as tedious as he nuncle bollocks was, it was nowhere near as dull as Sam and his love boat cruise

  9. Ergh, run into a game breaking bug with the final Longinus mission. The cut screen fades to black at the end and nothing further loads, yet when I reload it starts half through at a checkpoint.

    81% and 30 hours down the toilet.

  10. The world would be a lot safer if the US had invested $1 trillion spent in Iraq on a giant straw, tunnelled under the Ghawar field and sucked the oil out.

    We are where we are though and there will be no peace until desert bandit's of the House Saud run out of hydrocarbons to fuel their endless war against Twelvers.

  11. On Feast for Crows at the moment, but one character I quite liked, however minor, is Kevan Lannister, mainly for the way he puts Cersi in her place.

    Seems from the trailers that Jaime has gone to Dorne, so I am not sure how that will jive with the Dornish Consipracy storyline. They might get him to smash a Sand Snake I suppose.
