Blackburn at home in 1997. I was ten. It was a night game and we were in the Lower Holte. Lost 4-0. Sutton got a hat-trick.
Second game was in Stamford Bridge the following year. League Cup. I went with my uncle who was a Chelsea fan. Sat in the Shed End. Lost 4-1. Vialli got a hat-trick and John Terry made his debut. No one made me support Villa. My dad was a Leeds fan and all my friends supported United or Liverpool. Don't ask me why I didn't jump ship.

Personal terms will have been discussed at some stage but I wouldn't be surprised if the player and his agent significantly upped their figure today, knowing full well that the chairman has promised a world class No. 9 and is under pressure to deliver.
I obviously don't know the ins and out of it but this could be one of those cases where Xia's transparency is counter-productive.

I think di Matteo's careers over after this if things don't improve soon.

If that Keith is right and Xia is a fraud and Samuelson owns the club Then he is going to extraordinary lengths to hide it all.
Good to see Jack Grealish front and centre. Last year he would have been down the back smoking a fag.

That's pathetic.

He has had one decent game for us when it looked like he could be a top player. He is Lee Hendrie mark 2
He was decent the other day against Wednesday so I'm presuming that's the one game you're referring to.

He looked a class above virtually everyone else yesterday when he ran with the ball but I don't think he worked especially hard nor did he look like he wanted to be there. I know he typically plays with a scowl on his face but last season his work rate was fantastic. Didn't see that yesterday. I wouldn't be surprised if he left tbh.

he seems a player that would cause shit in the dressing room if he doesnt get his way
What are you basing that on?

That's what the Mail said, but I'm not convinced...
It looks wrong but in this piece the reporters (from Reading) pronounce it Tish-bo-la, and also refer to him as 'Tish'.
That's going to bother me. Like Nathan Delfouneso. How was that Del-fon-so?

The away one is very reminiscent of this:

Definitely fake. That image of Villa Park is a wallpaper someone put online a couple of years ago. I know because I downloaded it.
Also the logo is really poorly positioned and shopped, and I doubt that dark swoosh will be there. It doesn't seem to fit in with other UA designs as far as I can tell. And why would they make the shirt transparent in a promotional graphic for the shirt?
No stars.

Is that Neil Warnock talking about the Villa job?

I'm not condemning him, but I'm massively uncomfortable with this. I see our government closing down the British steel industry in the rush to suck up to a country that seems to be gearing up to control the world economy. Now I see the Chinese have decided to dominate world football. Well, fine, I lost interest in world football many years ago. The money aspect of the game, the Sky hegemony, ticket prices out of reach of the average punter, players' wages that are frankly disgusting, English clubs owned by Arab sheikhs and Russian oligarchs. It stinks. All I had was Aston Villa, Birmingham's proudest. I thought we were better than that. This is the club whose players refused to salute Hitler. We knew that the worst thing that could happen wasn't playing in the third division, it was losing the soul of the club. That process has sadly been accelerating since the birth of the Premier League. All I see on this thread is hysteria about money. Money, and shut your eyes to everything else. Rename Villa Park? Sure, think of the money. This used to be Aston Villa. Now it it seems it's just another PLC. I'm not celebrating this morning, I'm sad, very sad. I'm not saying I'm walking away from it all, I'll follow what happens with interest, and no doubt I'll be pleased if we can start winning games, but it's not MY Aston Villa any more.
So basically you want to go back to 1958 and live there forever.

Think it's pronounced more like 'Shaow' but could be wrong.
My Chinese isn't great but I think it's more similar to "sha".

I'd rather stay down for two years and allow a good manager develop a new team with a positive ethos than bounce straight back up by playing muck football under a negative manager.
I want to enjoy watching Villa play again.

Every new kit thread every year:
- "Oh, a new kit. This will make for a happy distraction from the current malaise."
- Speculation about new sponsors/kit suppliers
- General confusion about the length of current sponsor's/kit supplier's contracts
- Someone says "The new owners may buy out the contracts and get new sponsors?" even though that never happens and we're never going to be taken over ever
- Intense debate about quality of current shirt/washing temperatures
- Someone says "I don't care as long as it's claret and blue."
- Imarsha and co. produce quality mock-ups that are 100% always better than what we end up getting
- Intense debate about how shit our crest is
- Someone says "I know it's crazy but I quite like the black, green and red strip from the 90s."
- Someone harks back to the days of Nike
- Someone pipes up about how we're shallow, brand-loving morons
- Someone puts the Cadbury logo on a mock-up
- Someone puts a company linked to a potential new owner on a mock-up
- More confusion about when current sponsor's deal ends
- Someone says "Our kit always seems to come out last!"
- Some details leaked to our ITKs
- Someone references palletgate
- Club release teaser
- Intense debate about what the entire shirt looks like based on teaser
- Someone freaks out about the shade of claret
- Kit released
- There's a collective "Yeah, it's alright."
- General disappointment with the players used in the photo shoot
- First game of the season: "Kit looks nice, in fairness."
- Second game of the season: Everyone forgets the kit, concentrates on how bad we are at playing football
(Repeat next April)
Edit: And it's my favourite thread every year.
