  1. We always seem to be linked with Ceballos from Real Madrid - I wonder if wed go back in for him - If we ever were in for him ?

I think we need an injection of quality in midfield for a CL campaign.........

  2. i think that might be a market we look at, players out of contract in summer 2025,  could be a few cashed in upon this summer

EG: Chiesa, Dumfries, Cherki, Lo Celso, Jonathan David

Been linked with all of them above and only in last 12months of deals this summer

Like that idea. I think getting an experienced head in makes sense, especially for a relateively lower fee. Lo Celso is another one, he'll definitely be leaving Spurs this summer.

I think Lo Celso will be one we go for, strong rumours we tried for him last summer if I remember but Ange wanted to give him a try ......... think we might go back in, versatile and bit of quality and experience and know how UE sets up.... couple that with i dont think hell break the bank in relative terms

Also; I could see us going for Mikel Merino as well to replace and compete with Kamara - hes entering his final 12 months of his contract so can see his price softening

  4. I think we need a couple of players with CL experience, especially one in middle of the park and I think as the second striker that can pick locks and create

I think were an Odegarrd/De Bruyne type player away from being a top top side that can be in the mix for a top title........

the question is who?  do we spend big on a proven player of this mould, or do we go for a top young talent.........

If Buendia and Ramsey come back fit I struggle to see a place in the squad for Zaniolo.  He'd be 3rd choice on the left, 4th choice on the right and 3rd or 4th at number 10.  I'd just say thanks and move on.  If Frimpong has a release clause in the £30m-ish region I'd put money towards him and a central midfielder, plus a defender on a free (Hermoso).

i think the big problem is weve no idea what Mings and Buendia will come back like........ it could be all good, it could take 6/7 months into next season before theyre anywhere near back to their form........ gonna be a big risk to go into a potetiall CL campaign relying on them, so i can see a couple of big loans again, similar to Lenglet/Zaniolo to bolster the number

  6. my personal opinion, subject to CL qualification, you will see us in the free agent market.......... Hermoso

I think youll see one / maybe 2 decent cost pickups, but not eyewatering - ie: Lo Celso,

And one big hitter ie: Nico Williams, Joao Felix etc.......

ant the usual "out of nowhere" signing that we always make........

I personally think a couple of really good pickups to be had in the championship as well ie: Summerville, Rowe, Ruben Colwill

Have you seen him play for Spurs? It’s back to his Chelsea days, no thank you.  He doesn’t seem to be suited to PL football.

always seems to make something happen when I see him play, think hed suit us in certain games

  8. i think well see use of the loan and free transfer market to boost our squad without having to sell our star men.......

EG: Selling Donk, Digne, Chambers, Hause, Coutinho, Sanson and returning of Lenglet, Zaniolo should free up some funds - if not massive

Players available like Hermoso, Adarabiyo, Nacho, Felipe anderson, Luka Jovic etc....... all available on free's and could all boost the squad without a transfer fee outlay, albeit with a decent wage packet..........

Mings and Buendia are coming back, hopefully will return to some form, but worst case would be two very good squad players to have around....... maybe well stick with Archer this summer if he comes back also........

Supplement that with maybe one major player if we make Champions League then I think well be good.....

Hasselbaink would have been one hell of a signing.

He also said that Atletico signed him on JG's recommendation to the Atlético Chairman, Jesus gill weren't it - played for Luton with him..............

Yes, I think you’re right on this. Definitely some rumours about him at the time.

Only ever had one bit of ITK, which I only found out straight from the horses mouth only a couple years or so ago...… we were as close as you can get to signing Jimmy Flloyd Hasselbaink after selling Yorkie,  but he turned us down last minute when he was at Leeds.   Told me his agent had heard rumours of interest from the big clubs in Spain and from Liverpool, so decided to push those moves, but they never came off and he eventually got his move 12 months after.   He tried to ressurect it but wed since been and signed Dion Dublin.

Well that was his probably his 1st game after injury

If think Vlaar and Okore were our worst centre backs then I assume you must really rate Richards and Lescott

not at all, but the whole point of the thread is "players you got wrong" ...... i didn't get Richards or Lescott wrong.  Both formerly good players and way past their best and injury prone when we signed them - i cant put them as the worst as I wasn't expecting the earth from them … On the other hand, Vlaar and Okore weren't - hence I got them wrong.  I thought theyd be good signings, but the realism is they wouldn't have improved a league 2 club they were that poor.

Okore was vs some foreign team in villa park when hed recently joined - abysmal showing - i thought then he would be a busted flush - he didnt get any better, then got crocked.  Really Really Bad
