  1. Welcome to TEAMtalk´s Aston Villa News Headlines for Wednesday, January 03, 2007 at 13:10

To read more of todays Aston Villa news or have your say on this story why not click back to the TEAMtalk website.

    Becks closes in

Aston Villa are reportly in negotiations with David Beckham, which may see him in a starting role for the FA Cup tie at his old club Manchester United.

  2. Rumours are of a double press conference tomorrow, rumour mill is in overdrive and unfortunately Harewoods name keeps coming up.

He's being booed by West Ham fans at the minute, I really think he is absolute shite and it summed us up last season that he scored a hat trick against us

Where did you pull that one from???? :?:

Villa Park, bit of a rumour fest going on at the minute :winkold:

  3. Charles Paterson just said on SSN that O Neil would be interested in Barry Ferguson , who knows but it could be possible now that Ferguson has fell out with his manager, although i wouldnt want Furguson

Ferguson very very good for Rangers, sits in the hole and picks the ball up off the back four, always there for a pass and uses the ball well, gets stuck in and is very influential for them, but........Although I have a big soft spot for Rangers and Ferguson he was shit at Blackburn...

  4. I read of some of the areas where improvements have begun such as the Training Grounds at Bodymoor Heath and also at Villa Park.

I read your reference to the old Holte Hotel as "the Holte Inn" . Was this accidental or is there a plan to develop/refurbish the old hotel as an Inn ?

Are you able to share with us what the board has in mind for the old building?

You also referred to some of the problems you encountered in trying to get food and beverage service in the Holte End. Is it likely that we might see the kind of service that one gets at some American sports facilities where Bill the Beerman or the hot dog guy/peanut vendor work the aisles during the game and serves you while you are seated. That would seem to solve two problems, reduce congestion in the walkways and perhaps increase sales of food and drink. An added advantage would be that the fans would not have to leave their seats and miss any portion of the game .

Opening Villa Park at half term for the young supporters was brilliant and providing coaches for the trip to watch Aston Villa win at Stamford Bridge are great ideas.

I have not enjoyed being a Villa Fan as much as I have this season since 1982. These are great days. Long may the matchup of Randy and Martin leading Aston Villa back to the top continue. I hope that you enjoy your time with Aston Villa and the successes that all of us will relish together. Thank you

I am sitting in San Diego California with my 93 year old father who says to

pass on the following: Up the Villa!!!

Re. the Holte Inn. Randy is looking to refurbish the old Holte Hotel and

the work has already commenced. We are not sure what the final usage will

be but...it will have a pub and a place to get a bite to eat.

Re. Food and beverage at the games. We are absolutely looking at selling

food in the stands (on a NOT to interfere basis with the game)...but, as you

know, there are UK restrictions on the sale of alcohol in the stands and

during certain time-frames. We are working this.

Again, my father wishes each of the Villa Fans well...and looks forward to

good reports throughout the season. I told him that the tradition and ethos

of Aston Villa was second to none.

    Semper Fidelis, General Krulak

General, I seriously love you fing32.gif

  5. Hopefully Bouma did enough to show MON that he can be trusted at leftback. He is a better leftback than Barry in terms of defending against a marauding winger. Plus this is a game where we need Barry's influence in midfield the most. I would go with.

           Sorensen/Taylor

    Hughes Mellberg Ridgewell Bouma

    Gabby Davis McCann Petrov Barry

                Angel

Now I KNOW 4-5-1 really needs an attacker on each wing but I think Barry is creative enough to compensate. Also I think the grit in midfield is essential. If MON doesn't want Bouma then I would be reluctant to move Barry back and perhaps go with using Laursen in some permutation in defence. Five across the middle is as important in this game as it was against Arse & Chelsea. It's only by a lucky coincidence that it means dropping the frankly shite Baros to the bench.

BOF, agree with that line up but I would swap Hughes for Laursen and ship Mellberg to right back. Thought we looked a lot more solid like that plus Laursen is dangerous on the set pieces.

    Fingers crossed for Saturday.

  6. Can't see it to be fair, I think we've been pretty poor the last 3-4 games now apart from a 15 min spell against Spurs, we seem a bit flat.

3-1 Liverpool but.....I certainly hope the boys have a go and get something, we are well overdue a big win away from home against one of the 'big clubs' crossfingers.gif

  7. Is anyone else sitting in fron tof the LSE website hitting refresh ever ten minutes like a frigging turkey like me eh ? banghead.gif

I'm not even vaguely bothered tbh

The game over message was up a while ago, so there are 2 options

    1) Padfield doesnt bid or

    2) Padfield bids and bid gets instantly rejected

PB, think your spot on but it's just the uncertainty that this prick keeps bringign with him. Here's to opening the champers at 5PM.

  8. well lets say if any bid was going to go in and be excepted like Lerner it would have been annpunced at 7AM.

Today is indeed a gloious new chapter

    welcome Randy

Make you right hopefully mate, I've logged in to the Stock Exchange since 6.30 !! Think we're all the same though, we've seen that many false dawns we all expect something bad to happen !!

  9. Even if a bid does go in its got be be recommended by Rothchilds, accepted by the board AND recommended to the shareholders before it actually changes anything doesnt it?

Thats how I read it Dubbs but I just don't trust Ellis. Just wish these clowns who have 'the best interests of AVFC at heart' would just **** off.

  10. Got a text at 5am this morning saying they were now going to put a bid in....Makes me laugh as these clowns can't even tell the truth to the lad they've been talking to, just hope as per usual with Padfield this is bullshit.

    brilliant

    I feel completely deflated

  11. Got a text at 5am this morning saying they were now going to put a bid in....Makes me laugh as these clowns can't even tell the truth to the lad they've been talking to, just hope as per usual with Padfield this is bullshit.

  12. No, I ain't bullshitting just had an email from someone who is close to and been talking to this AV06 consortium.

Apparently they are pulling out and letting Lerner go ahead unopposed.

It ain't bullshit cos I've just read the e mail from this person myself. Lets hope its 100% spot on and they don't change their mind.

  13. Just checked the LSE and no further info posted regarding an alternative cash offer coming in from AV06. I would suspect nothing today, as if you look at recent notices published regarding the PLC, both Final Results and details of the 1st offer from RAL, this time last week, were posted at 7am.

I can't see how they can put a bid now surely, unless they are going to be right bastards and submit it first thing Wednesday morning

One thing I need clearing up....Does anyone know if they do bid, can Ellis just knock it back and say no thanks I'm not recommending it ??? :?
