I will love for JPA to come back and get a send off he deserves, i have mentioned this to General a few times to see if it is possible. When he first arrived, he was treated like s**t, but not once did he bad mouth our club. Even when GT came, he carried on as a professional. The main point i'm coming to is JPA was an ultimate professional. I'll never forget that season with DOL, those headers he used to score. Just imagine if Ashley was supplying him now.

I've lost interest a long time ago, its more to do with the same old harpings from the FA that this is a new era when in fact it isn't. The same players keep getting chance after chance to prove themselves. Lampard, Beckham, how long have we had those two players in this squad. The reason why nations are catching us up, is due to not blooding in youngsters, who are hungry for the chance. The youngsters we do blood in are bloody shite. The one thing the midfield lacks is energy,pace! people may slate me for this but Nigel Reo Coker would be ideal for England at the moment. Even Michael Johnson at City. These players in this squad have FAILED in numerous tournaments, the reason they don't get dropped is because they pull in crowds, they get the extra setatnta subscriptions which is more important than winning at the moment. We will get a point today, because thats what were playing for.

I don't know if the American 'Soccer' (Football) season has finished. But would it be possible to bring back JPA for a game, In my opinion he is how a professional player should be, never moaned about anything just got on with it. Would be great to give him a send off.

Well your view is your view, if you feel 5 is what our summer spending deserves. In my opinion it is harsh. Also on this topic, shouldn't the success rate be dependant at the end of the season as it seems to me most of the opinions on here are due to excitement. a 5, your entitled to your opinion but your talking crap. Are Full-backs supposed to be exciting? We aren't Brazil you know with Cafu and Carlos bombing down each side. SWP scores two goals and now he's the best thing since sliced bread. We have a decent squad with depth, We are down a striker but i have no doubt this will be corrected in January.

Did Barry play badly today? I thought he did fine. The problem when playing Liverpool, they are a very compact unit, their play comes through the middle. Made it harder for us. That ball to Young, no other midfielder we have could have played that ball.

Bickster, this is what we all wanted, competition for places. I was thinking if we replaced Salifou for Sidwell and Cuellar for Knight, we do have a strong squad.

I know you refuse to answer questions about transfers, but this is more of a request. Can you personally make sure that the fax machine for transfers is switched on? We are desperate and we need a working fax machine. Also very poor performance again from the team. We are better than this.

I think he needs to apologise to everyone if he is to stay and work hard for his place. He's let alot of people down, but im sure it'll only take a few weeks for him to become Villa's main man.

IF you take away the U-turn on the statement that should never have been issued, and then the messageboard nonesense from someone who should know better it has been the perfect fortnight for Aston Villa.

Martin O'Neill was made to look a little foolish at revealing his delight at Gareth Barry apparently set to stay at the club and then three days later was uttering a complete reversal.

Liverpool, it appears, now have all the time in the world.

Then General Krulak says the club are prepared to pay £30 million for a player and then wonders quite why there was such a fuss in some newspapers whose journalists have been made to search through the internet for their stories, such is the lack of information coming out of the club.

Villa should be bigger than this.

Do you see the Glazers, Tom Hick or George Gillette feeding soundbites through the internet?

Of course not.

But leaving those two errors of judgement aside Villa fans have every right to be content with how events have transpired over the last few days.

First we had Curtis Davies' sudden return from injury a month or so ahead of schedule.

Then we had the arrivals of Brad Friedel and Brad Guzan- one for now and one for tomorrow in the goalkeeping department.

Then today the club are set to beat off fierce competition for Nicky Shorey and Luke Young.

That's the back five sorted and now all Villa need is a right-sided midfielder, a striker and some defensive cover. Easier said than done, but with the season still ten days away the horizon is now much, much brighter.

General keep up the excellent work at VP. I think were all worrying about our squad size, would you know if any of the reserves are being promoted or will that decision be taken once and if signings are made?

I think a key factor will be the actual payment, Liverpool cannot offer this pay a 5% now and the rest over a period of 10years. I exaggerated that but their method of payment is also important for this deal to be struck.

The promotional video for ACORNS features Gareth Barry. In this day an age i understand footballers earn huge amounts of money and for me Gareth Barry is the wrong person to promote Acorns. I feel he is using the champions league as a smokescreen to earn huge amounts of money, this coincides with his recent comments that Villa have offered him no incentives.

Theres a rumour on one of the AVFC Blogs, who has a reliable source that the Leicester player Mattock will sign for 1.6 Million,something to add to the ITK topic.

I know there are quite a few comments regarding Barry, but i would like to praise MON and the Board, in there stance to Liverpool. You have conducted yourselves with dignity and not stooped to the low level, underhand tactics of Liverpool FC. Its a shame that this happens in Football and it always seems to be the "top" 4 clubs who seem to be doing it. Keep Up the Good Work.
