Bellamy, despite his personal antics, is a very intelligent player. He knows when to take an opportunity on himself and when to lay off the ball to a player who is in a better goalscoring opportunity, example, against Barcelona! I would welcome that injection into the club, as with MON's man mngt skills he'll put this guy on the right track.

My thoughts about Barton is that I think he'll behave himself. Afterall, after the thug attack at Man City he really will be in the last chance saloon and he knows it.
I thought that when he nearly got kciked out of City for stubbing a cigar in a youth players eye
And then afterwards when he started on a 14 year old Everton fan.
Oh yeh, and that one
-
yakubu may be a lazy shit, but he scores goals when given the chance
but how many of those are from open play? Look at AJ, Everton buy him for 8mill for his goalscoring record in the Prem the previous season. 9-10 of those were pens

we wont sign the world class players until we are in the CL..
we may get the odd one or two.. but until then we would get players in the lower category.. unless Lerner really throws the bank at them financially which i cant see him doing the way Chelsea did to bring the big names.
Never say never!!!!
We have Carew and we are not in the CL, we have Bouma and he played regular CL football. I also remember that when people on this board wanted DOL out, a majority stated their preferred choice of manager would be MON. Many people laughed and said he would never come to Villa, but he did!

Gents,
been off for a few days.
Still just suggestions and FansFC/Tribalfootball rumors? Or are there any genuine interests?
Just a few rumours Rocafella that you've probably already read. Nothing concrete

Like the look of him
Reminds me a lot of the style of Darren Bent
The fact that he's in a lesser league and not with the big boys of that league suggests to me that he is very gettable and would welcome a move to England.
Forget Bellamy, Smith and Nugent, it's gotta be this lad or Darren Bent for me.
Would love him but £10m wouldn't get him. They want about e20m which is what £14m?
Exactly the type of striker we need, someone who could play off Carew and is regular goal scorer inside the box. Bent is not that type of striker and as I reiterate, I cannot see how Carew and Bent would compliment each other. Whoever spotted him on here, send your CV to VP!

if we signed a Blackburn player, Id prefer it to be Morten Gamst-Pedersen
Am I the only person who thinks this guy is very over rated?
i used to but his crosses are first class
-
IMO no we have Young
-
When I think of Fowler i think of his time at Leeds and Citeh. No effort and pining for Liverpool, the club he only wants to play for.
I've seen a few people mention D Bent but I cannot see how he will fit into the Villa mould. He is the sort of striker that has a high work rate outside the box which is something Carew does for us already. They are similar strikers so I think we need someone that will put away those chances that Carew creates. IMO i think Defoe would compliment Carew in this case.

Makalele would do the job for one season, first class midfielder, the type that would help us not only in the midfield dept but also attracting big name players. It'll show we mean business

Hi General,
So its the end of your 1st season.
How did you find your first season watching the Villa? How have you adapted to life in the Prem? and have you fallen in love with the game more quickly than expected? and are you looking forward to next season
-
Thought McShane was awful today. Good going forward but easily skinned by kightly. For me, if we buy mcshane I think it will be a waste of money. We might as well keep Hughes as he is better defensivly, and i don't really rate him!
-
I can't see who the blues will buy in the summer and who will want to play for them. There is nothing to attract anyone to that club!
-
Zenden is not the way forward. I know a few liverpool fans and they think he's as good as Salif Diao. Personally I think the guy is crap and is no way better than what we already have
-
What a great day General. Many thanks to yourself, Randy and the board for getting the '82' team together. It was an emotional occassion. Do you have any feedback on how they felt when they walked on the pitch to the reaction they received?
Also I'd like to add that I have never known another club sing for their Chairman. This is how much of an impact he has made at the club. Also thanks for the scarves, it was a nice surprise to see the new badge on there.

A bloke I know is a season ticket holder at WBA and he rates McShane higher than Davies. He said McShane is an actual fact their best player, and he's been saying this all season
-
Just think if we had Barton and Bellamy jesus just think of the brawls
I agree - don;t think we could have both of them at the club

Micah Richards is our no 1 target according to a rumour going around Manchester!
It's spreading like wildfire.
No comment on Micah Richards
Isn't Richards a bluenose???
-
geremi is the answer to all our problems, is awesome at right back and in the middle..
Geremi, Boruc, Bellamy and a midfielder and maybe Distin and we will be going places...
Geremi is a quality player but not as a right back. Distin makes more mistakes than Ridgewell. Boruc and Bellamy - yes but would love to see Barton sign up for us
-
Cyber, do you really think Reo Coker is anywhere near as good as Ronaldo and Fabregas???
If so, why?
No he's not as good as them, but that doesn't mean he can't be near their level in the future, the kid is only 21 for god sake and has enough potential for us to take a chance on him, Manure and Arsenal didn't wanna sign him last season for no reason!!.
Just a question Cybervillian - not a dig. For Villa to move forward next season which is part of MON's plan, do you think he will enhance us and our style of football? Personally I do not think he has the ability or the bottle to do it. This season he has just caved in from the pressure at WHU and at every opportunity he has failed miserably. I am probably and i will probably eat my words in the future but at the moment in time I cannot see how he will take us forward. I think if we get Reo-Coker then we might as well keep McCann and develop Osbourne more into the fold.
-
Reo Coker is as bad a passer and as good a tackler as McCann. An athletic McCann if you like. Nowhere near the ability we need
I agree. I do not see how he will enhance the tram. We are all talking about a holding midfielder but has Petrov been playing well in this position since McCann has been out of the side?????

I won't bother in future.

I know what your saying about Villa sometimes dragging their heels but I think this was definately the case with the old regime. The new regime haven't really been given chance to act quickly in the transfer market and in hindsight I think it really comes down to the fact on whether the player on the short-list is available at that moment in time. Also looking at the bigger picture not many clubs have acted yet in the transfer market. It is something I thiok we'll have to judge at the beginning of the season.
