  1. "The best candidate for Aston villa who will complement the clubs commitment to be true to our heritage, competitiveness and passionate fan base"

General this was the statement released last week and are the main points to take from it, now if this is all true and just not hogwash, then surely we need to come out and announce our new manager asap.

I understand that appointing the best candidate for the vacant managers job isnt easy, but we as fans have had to put up with the press and every other media outlet drag our great club through the mud, with nothing being said.

Now back to the statement above, if this is true then i believe there is no way Randy and the Board could appoint a manager that has seen his team relegated twice and play the most dire football around.

Mr Mcleish may be a great person but he is a very poor football manager as his stat's will show, his team last year managed to score the almighty sum of 37 goals all season, now i have also read your so called post on another forum, and unless you deny it will take it as your honest view.

which i respect as much as the next man's, but if Randy and the board see fit to appoint him as our next manager then i will seriously start having to question the ambition of randy and the board.

He may have a tattoo but that to me means nothing, i took last season as a blip and the appointment of GH was never going to work but backed him, everyone can make a mistake but to make it a second time is just not forgiveable in my book.

Anyway continue with the DITHERING as it seems thats the only thing our board are any good at.

It's now 14th june 2011 and we are still without a manager, sponsor, shirt, goalkeeper. I could go on but i think you have got the message and i don't expect a reply.

I just pray that the wait for a new manager and all of the above are worth it, because if we are expected to wait 2 weeks plus as we have, to be given Mcliesh as our new manager than i recommend that yourself and randy sit down and really consider your futures will AVFC.

And randy doesnt have to worry as he could always have the tattoo removed, sadly having claret and blue blood is for life and something we as fans can't change.

  2. Lerner is a big admirer of Hughes, wanted him 12 months ago

Cant see why anything would have changed

Appart from Lerner looking for loyalty and Mark Hughes resigning after a year, no I can't see what has changed at all.

Why do people say he resigned, when he just chose not to renew his contract, this is no different to us not renewing reo-cokers contract, so for me randy will look a little silly if he is using this logic to rule him out.

Its not as if he sent an email to resign like the troll from over the road.

I've got to the point where i just wish the board would hurry the feck up, we have a lot to sort out, and i think whoever cmes in is going to be busy in the transfer market, as we have a fair few players to replace.

I wouldnt be against Hughes, and just maybe his dodgy agent could find us another Tevez :winkold:

  3. I've loaded that radio station up, will see if anything gets said. At the moment it's playing a bit of Prince, nice.

You wouldnt have an online link would you, im stuck doing a 12 hour night shift i could do with a giggle to keep me going, nothing better than footie fans winging on the phone.

  4. General i do hope all this dithering is going to be worth it.

We are taking a pasting in the press over the appointment of our new manager, i just hope that we have someone lined up thats going to shut them all up.

Also with all the bad press, isnt this someone at the club needs to look at, its been going on for a few years now and as much as i admire our stance of saying sweet FA, it does make us and yourselves out to be soft touches.

Anyway here's to the 1st of july and the appointment of Mr Hughes(the worst kept secret).

If my sarcastic comment above is wrong then any chance we can get an indication of when we can see the new gaffer in place.

  5. just woke up after having a right old nightmare

i dreamt we were linked with yet another manager who is not good enough

this time it was martinez, a manager with a win record of 26%, a manager who took wigan from 11th under the talented steve bruce down to 16th in his first season and then showing a little consistancy, kept them 16th.

i know it is just an interview but do people think this sends a message to the players that we cant attract any top managers and are scraping the barrel when it comes to who we can employ?

if i wanted to employ someone, i would paper sift first and the crap woudlnt be getting my time, so how on gods earth can martinez be getting an interview?

he has done nothing, achieved nothing, won nothing, proved nothing.

im now wondering if this is some ploy to get rid of each and every player a villa on decent wages? i genuinely cant see downing staying, bent staying, makoun staying.

the youngsters would be happy as all the seniour players will have left taking their big wages with them, leaving the door open for them to play

    in the championship

unless it is purely in an assistant managers role, i think this is a red herring. randy gambling his entire villa money on someone who has one of the worst records in the premier league, i cant see him being such s retard as doing that.

hopefully the dream i had wont be a reoccurring one and we actually get in a top manager, other wise we will become a laughing stock, which it seems is already happening with the shit we are getting linked with

The thing that worries me is, that if Martinez is our new manager then it goes to show that the spending is going to stop, we are already saying goodbye to AY, i think DJ will follow this summer also.

I know there only rumours but if Rafa turned us down due to lack of funds then we have to start to seriously worry. We spent £25 million in January but i always believed that was because Randy knew that was the only way to keep us up. i hope im wrong, im not against Martinez but if its him he's gonna new someone above him to help.

Does anyone see with Martinez as manager us getting a DoF, Maybe GH will move upstairs if so i'd take the risk, if its just Martinez on his own i fear for our future.

  6. i Just wish it would be over with, It's getting to the point where i will except anyone just so its done and dusted, It may have been 7 days but don't half feel like a month.

The soon this is sorted the better then we can get back to what close season is all about, transfer rumours :D

  7. well 54% of VT would rather have someone else than Ancelotti.

he just wouldn't be the right guy for our club.

Someone comes up with a story that Ancelotti will be named manager and the negative comments start :bang:

As for your 54% stat, I am pretty sure some of those people would be happy with Ancelotti instead.

Just out of interest who would you go for?

not being negative, i'd support Ancelotti 100% if he became our manager.

in order, my preference would be:

    Jol

    Hughes

    Moyes

    Ancelotti

well going by your list Jol, hughes and moyes aren't wanted

    going by your logic

77% don't want Moyes, 89% don't want hughes and your top choice of Jol 95% don't want him.

So i'd happily take the man that has got almost 50% of the vote than the rest.

If you don't want him just say, don't come up with ridiculous stat's to try and back up your arguement.

  8. For me the new manager needs to be done and dusted ASAP, we currently have no keeper, likely to lose young and downing, and if this drags on to long, likely to cause more unrest.

The board should have know for a while the odd's were high GH wouldnt be back, so should have had replacements lined up.

I dont except the board have gotta take there time to get it right, as they took long enough last season and didnt.

If its hughes then just pay some compo and get it out the way, he's not going back to fulham so surely if its him it wouldnt cost much to get them to waiver the 30 day notice.

Do we know if any interviews have been done or are due, i think the rumours ancelotti has turned us down or will are strange, as he seems the type of person that would meet and discuss before deciding if he wants the job or not.

    So the Dithering continues :?

  9. I've said from the start it has to be Ancelotti, people say he only manage's established clubs, but i think the project we have would appeal to him, he has a point to prove after being treated so badly by chavski.

Why not prove it here and rebuild us, we have a chairman that backs the manager thru thick and thin and think this is appealing to alot of managers.

What i'd also like to know is where the **** are our so called ITK's, surtely they should be on now with the latest but there nowhere to be seen.

  10. General Krulak here:

    1. PKAVFC: "I hope the Board has learned a lesson from this...." Oh yes, we sure have. Let's see, we learned that it is not good to have a Manager leave the Club 5 days before the season starts....we learned that we should have a QA man or woman located at the factory where the material for our kit is woven...we learned that it is not good to have a raft of injuries to some of our best players during the season...we learned that it is not good when your Manager has a heart problem in the final weeks of the season. Are those the lessons we were supposed to have learned? If so, we learned them. I don't suppose you would like to offer a suggestion as to how to avoid these in the future? :bang::bang:

    2. Tayls: A VERY good post!!! Your comment about some of the things that GH did for the Club was spot on! Unfortunately, much of what you said goes unappreciated by many fans. Thank you for highlighting them.

    3. We have a scouting system. Is it world class???? Probably not....and it is something that we need to improve upon.

    4. Thank you for all the suggestions re. a new Manager. It seems like just yesterday that I was getting suggestions on what to do with GH...now its choosing a new Manager. Can I have one day of rest? Think about it, even God took one day of rest....don't I deserve at least a day since I am certainly NOT in any way or shape even a glimmer of God's greatness.

I don't suppose you would like to offer a suggestion as to how to avoid these in the future?

    Well seeing as you asked.

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.

We are fans that love our club, we don't need a tattoo to prove it :winkold:

If we think the board has done wrong we will tell you, i don't doubt yours or randy's commitment to AVFC, and i genuiely believe the mistake made last season will be learnt from and you and the rest of the board are aware of them.

Thank you for all the suggestions re. a new Manager.

Well considering you got advise on the last shambles of an appointment, why not take free advise from people that follow the game and care deeply for this club, we might like to think we know everything(because we do).

Doesnt mean we are wrong, i'd happily bet that most football fans up and down the country have a better knowledge of the game, than these so called advisors in there suits.

We say what we feel, and your big enough to take it, and no doubt dish it out aswell.

Randy wants feedback, and thats what we give good or bad.

Anyway here's to the new season, let the crazy ride of AVFC ride again :D

  11. this silence is becoming seriously ridiculous.

And your shocked, this is a board that took the best part of 2 months to hire a manager that had been out of management for about 4 years, and also hada very dodgy ticker, to me this just shows that they have learnt nothing from last year and continue to make the same basic mistakes.

i posted this in jest earlier but am starting to think this is what they are following to the letter.

    complete-idiots-guide-soccer-deborah-crisfield-paperback-cover-art.jpg

  12. Sam is under-rated, not that I'd want him at Villa. Put it this way, I think he'll absolutely piss the championship with West Ham. Something that I wouldn't have said was a given under many others. Sam has a ceiling and I think he can get West Ham to being a stable midtable PL club. I think he'd do that with most clubs that took him on. I don't think he'd get you anywhere above that, which is fine for most, but not for Villa. So for a club with no ambitions of breaking the top 8, Sam is ideal.

So for a club with no ambitions of breaking the top 8, Sam is ideal

So thats us then, cos we are a 7th to 12th team. :winkold:

General you are right GOD took one day of rest, but you are above GOD and as a marine surely rest is for the weak :winkold:

Anyway thanks again for all the replies even if it isnt will the answers we want to hear.(we know you can say all the in's and out's)

Regardless of what happens this summer i will always back the team and randy, maybe we have been spoilt a little with having you talk to us, so we will always ask questions, and most of the time we know rightfully we won't get the answer due to the prying eyes of the british press.

Anyway you may have missed my previous question about old merchandise, so if you could have a look into it for me i would be grateful.

if you can't find it please PM me and i'll reply.

    Cheers

  14. Morning General.

I'm not gonna rant like the last to post's but am also worried if above is true.

My question is who is in charge of contract renewal's, as it seems that we seem to let players contracts run down to the last 1 - 2 years when we have little power left.

I.E Barry left with 1 year to go, Milner had 2, A.Young has 1 and seems to be on his way, and downing has to and if rumours are to be believed could also be looking for the exit door.

Now players come and go and regardless of this i will always follow and support my team, but it is getting a little worrying that we are allowing players to run down there contract or not doing anything to get them signed up before they enter the last year or two.

In the summer MoN left and A.young came out on tv and stated he'd sign a new contract if it was put in front of him, this never happened.

I just hope we are about to make a serious statement ie new manager or players that will make the rest of the league take notice, IE a top draw manager (ancelotti :winkold: :winkold: ).

Anyway im not sure you saw my previous post about frame pictures so if you could have a look and possible get me the answer i'd be grateful as would love to get my hands on some of the older ones we had a few years ago.

  15. as i can only go by previous january trnasfer windows, we were top 4 and went and got bloody heskey, each of the late 3 season we finished 6th we were in a great position come january to go and get the finishing touches but never did, now i do blame this on MoN, but also think the chairman got lazy, and proberly though there was no need to spend big on a proven scorer when we were sitting pretty in the table, this is the 1st season where we havent under randy's ownership and i thank him for getting DB as life at vp without him isnt worth thinking about.

Also you can't really count city and chelsea as they buy just for the sake of it, liverpool sold torres for 50 million and spent the lot on 2 players to compensate the lose and to appease the fans
