He signed a new contract in 2021 when he was seen as one of the biggest talents in the world. That contract also upped his release clause to €1bn
Barca pay absurd salaries which is why they are in the financial mess that they are.
Wow, given the number of minutes he's actually played for them they've got a woeful return for their euros! If that really is his salary no wonder Barca are desperate to sell him, and no wonder he doesn't want to leave.

I think you're right. Ansu Fati is on £230,000 a week, about £12,000,000 a year, over 5 years about £60,000,000, with £50,000,000 transfer fee on top. There is no way we are spending over £100,000,000+ on Ansu Fati
Where did you get the £230,000 per week figure from duke? I've checked his history and he's been at Barcelona since he was 10 years old. His senior career has been blighted by a couple of long term injuries, and he doesn't appear to have played a full match in three seasons. He's been used as a sub mostly and his match ratings are very average probably due to his lack of minutes. He has good potential but he wouldn't merit that sort of contract.
So why would Barcelona be paying him 268,000 euros (£230,000) per week? Genuine question.

I have. They lose around £4m a year in food and drink due to slow service.
I have assumed if there were no queues then everyone would just buy 1 extra drink to now. In reality, people like me would buy 2 extra drinks, a pie, chips, etc, and some would buy nothing extra. So an average of 1 drink per person to keep it simple.
1 drink x £5 x 42,000 people x 19 games = £3.99 million.
Logistics used to be my area of expertise, so I'm going to point out the obvious problem with selling more pints per fan .... Available toilet facilities .... There's a causal link between the intake and outflow of alcohol which would result in huge queues for our already vastly inadequate urinals, causing them to become an even more unhealthy flood risk than they already are, lol.

It's past my bedtime, but before I go I have to say that I'm amused by the fact that people who can't play football, couldn't run for five minutes flat out and have never coached footballers can be so critical.
I'm a Villa fan, and I guess the fact that you're all on here means that you're also Villa fans, but I sometimes wonder.
Can we be less critical and more supportive of NSWE's, Emery's and Monchi's efforts to put us back where we belong in the elite of English football. I've got better things to do with my time than get annoyed at people who just want to rubbish Villa players at every opportunity.
I loved tonight. I didn't expect perfection, and I know the opposition was limited, but that didn't detract from my enjoyment of our first European game in the last thirteen years. This evening I made up my large bedroom like a cinema and scattered pillows and cushions for four of my grandchildren and my son to watch the match with me. They were wearing older Villa kits that my daughter in law bought off 'Vinted' and had a wonderful time with half time drinks and snacks. We're looking forward to doing it again next week and I simply cannot understand why some of you guys can't just enjoy the moment and enjoy the journey.
I'm posting this hoping that some of you can rediscover the reason why you support Villa. Goodnight all.

I thought we were generally quite poor and didn’t show a great deal of hustle.
Is this opinion not allowed because we won?
It's allowed, but it's bizarre if you don't mind me saying.

We won 5-0 and he frightened the life out of the Hib's defence. He doesn't have to score every game or be the best player on the pitch, if he occupies two or three defenders every time he's on the ball then he creates 'winning space'.

I came on here to post the same. I generally avoid the match day thread because of the regular vitriolic comments about some of our players by some of our fans.
Olsen is important to us as our back up keeper this season and we need to get behind him. My advice to the haters is .... If a player is on the pitch in the Villa kit playing for Villa he needs and deserves your support. Fans also have a big part to play, and keyboard warriors perform no useful positive function imo. UTV!

Brennan Johnson is still my favourite target. He will continue to develop into a top attacker under Unai Emery's coaching, and could be with us for the next half a decade or more.
Forget his price, think of the years of top service he will give us. A wise investment in my opinion. (quickest attacker in the PL last season according to the stats)

Well done Rennes. That kind of incoming money will go a long way in a cash strapped Ligue 1 (apart from PSG of course).

I can't believe that the last time we posted about Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens was four weeks ago. These are the guys behind all our hopes and dreams. I haven't bought a Villa shirt for ages because it's not a particularly good look on a seventy four year old, but I'm going to buy a shirt online with NSWE on the back of it. They are my top guys after many decades of supporting Villa.

I would not have identified Acuna as a player we needed in a million years, but now we definitely know that a strong man is needed in our defence.
It reinforces what I already believe about Monchi and Emery .... They are totally committed to finding the right players and putting together a top six (four?) team.
I'm making no judgements on any of our players for the result against Newcastle. When two of your "special family" are struck down in a couple of days it's going to rattle you. Then you pick yourself up and get your heads together for the next game. It must help when you can prepare to welcome players like Zaniolo and Acuna into your midst so soon after a gut wrenching upset.
Onwards and upwards Villa.

Patience is a virtue. It's in short supply among football fans.

Is Emery thinking of using Moreno on the left wing when he's fit, with Acuna as an aggressive LB behind him?

Get Foyth in. Cash is only good enough as cover. If we get Foyth then Moreno can be the more advanced full back when he returns.
Foyth appears to be perfect for Emery's idea of a former CB playing as a defensive RB. He would tighten up our defence and has the size, strength and ability in the air to be be a good addition at defensive set pieces.
Emery knows him well so it's a possibility.

Brennan Johnson with claret dyed hair.
Interesting.
DISCLAIMER - Colour may or may not be claret.
I came on to post the same thing. Hair coloured claret ready to join us, and a deliberate miss to p*ss Steve Cooper off and ease his departure. Here we go!

I've not been on VT much today. Does Zaniolo seem more likely than not at this moment?

I go on the Newcastle - Online fan forum quite regularly, and they were not looking forward to facing Buendia on Saturday. They have reacted to news of him not being available with relief. Their comments about his injury have been sympathetic which is a credit to them.
Sometimes we need to listen to the fans of of other clubs to fully appreciate how much one of our more 'spiky' players adds to our overall performance.

Attitude, aggression, energy, commitment, talent and a willingness to run himself into the ground for his team mates, his manager and all of us. He's the personification of a total team player all wrapped up in a small but dynamic package. He may not be the "best" player on the team sheet in any one position, but he's one of the most important.
I'm gutted .... We will miss you for the next few months Emi.

He seems to be playing with fear at the moment which doesn't bode well for this season. It's a mindset that he needs to reverse.

I enjoyed watching the game tonight but one thing that I would like OBE (Out By Easter) to raise at the next reps meeting is the quality of AVTV's broadcasts. Charging £4.99 for a blurred substandard picture is simply not on. I would love the opportunity to educate our service providers with some cold hard truths!

Lenglet will sort out our strength in depth for CB, and Brennan Johnson would do the same for our front three. Job done lol.
