  1. Chelsea are better and have a much bigger fanbase, the only thing that favour us is our history.

The question is who has the bigger potential in fanbase? Chelsea have the home counties and west london as there catchement areas; however they face stiff competition from other London clubs and other successful teams. Villa have the potential of the whole of the Midlands region and towards the West country. There aren’t really any other big clubs in the Midlands, so the potential is greater. Get the team going in the right direction long term and Villa shouldn’t have any problems being on a fan base with Chelsea

Well said; the potential of Villa is massive, and we could be the biggest team in Britain!

There are 3.5 million adults within 25 miles of the Villa. There are 8 million within an hours drive. If you can just encourage 2% of these to become ticket buying supporters, the future could be very interesting and highly profitable.

Great arguement, much better than the stick some people love to give you when you give them a reasonable question

  2. I have thought more about it, and here are my best guesses on whom we should try to get:

    1. Darren Bent (he plays for a shitty club bound for relegation)

    2. Lucas Neill (he wants to go)

    3. Shaun Wright-Phillips (doesn't get a chance and I think they will sell him)

    4. Joey Barton (he has a release clause)

    5. Sylvain Distin (he doesn't want to sign a contract)

    Would actually be the solution

  3. Can people stop talking about value and offers above 10M being crazy etc etc?

We are not going to be mediocre old Villa anymore for god's sake, we are going to

challenge for players and honours. Bigtime, not the measly shit that's been going on

    the last few seasons.

We don't want the semi-good players on the cheap, we want the prooven ones at top

dollar! If you don't want to join the ride then go support Sheffield Wednesday or something.

  4. NOBODY IS TALKING ABOUT BENT AT 5M !!!!!!!

I said risking 5M above his asking price at around 10M would be a gamble, which means 15M.

My point is; who are we to judge his value before he has ever played a match for us?

United paid 28M for Rooney, a kid that wasn't even better than Lee Hendrie at the time.

Absolute bollocks this is mate. Don't even think about Darren Bent being a world beater and why pay £5m more than his value? Gago is going to Real for £13m. £5M is a large premium for us to pay when ou turnover is around £50-60m.

You will know that price is determined by supply and demand, for £15m there are much better players around than Darren Bent. He could well be the next Michael Ricketts! Who?

Excuse me? Is it absolute bollocks when they said some months ago that 15M was the price they expected to get for him from Newcastle? I know they are pushing prices, but frankly does it matter? I am NOT saying we should pay 15M for Darren Bent, I think a reasonable price would be 11M or something. Not because of his value, that we do not know anything about before he has actually played and scored for this club on a regular basis. Based on what I believe we have available for transfers I wouldn't want to pay 15M.

I remember Louis Saha going to United for around 12m and he was kind of the same type of player, playing good for a shitty club like Fulham. As well as Yorke. Didn't he leave for 12M? I think Darren Bent was better than Saha, and probably better than Yorke when he left us. It was when playing for United he really became a world-beater. Darren Bent is going to be sold for everything between 9M and 15M, depends on who and how many that is bidding for his services.

Is it absolute bollocks? I do not believe so.

  5. would offer bad value for money at the moment.

F*ck value, you are not the one to judge value when he hasn't even played one game for us.

What if he goes on to score 15 goals every season? What is 5M in 2006? What is 5M

    for a "big club"? Nothing!

£5 for their best striker? You are having a laugh! That would guarantee relegation and missing out on the TV deal wind fall next season. Seeing that economics is the study of choice and I'm an economist I think it's something I know a little bit about to be honest. We would be better offer paying £7m for Defoe than £12m for Bent which is the fee that I would expect you would need to pay.

With the £5m you had left you could get Bale or Young, that should help result in more points accrued by the end of the season.

The fee mentioned for Bent is 10M, obviously the 5M I am talking about is the maximum fee we have to pay above this (in worst case).

I too am studying to be an economist and I am also quite certain they would not sell Bent for 5M.

  6. I also think MON is looking for a target-man such as James Beattie. Alan Smith has been mentioned, I don't think he would do a better job than Angel does right now.

Not sure though, his injuries is ruining his reputation, along with Michael Owen etc etc.

My shout is still Darren Bent though, some club needs to drag him out of the hell-hole that is the Valley.

  7. I think MON is better, don't get me wrong. WH-supporters probably think he is better than MON.

    You rather than us?

Are you in a bad mood cos your team lost 1-0 this weekend?

Yes, my team lost 1-0 yesterday at home before meeting the big-guns, which sees us under the middle of the table come January. So I'm pissed!

And secondly; why is this Man Utd-thing so amusing to people like you?

Because I once said I would like to see Wes Brown, Kieran Richardson and John O'Shea as part of our squad?

Seriously; I am wondering a hell uf a lot about it. Is it your crapsense of humour or is it something else?

  8. I am reflected enough to see that we aren't a much better club than West Ham as of

now. They have new owners, so do we. They have ambitions, so do we. We are above them right

now, we weren't last season. I am the kind of fan who acknowledges things are missing when we

are losing 5-0, not the one who blames unluck, bad refs, the wind and cheating players.

Dunno why this is getting out of context, I was mainly pointing out the lack of motivation Reo-Coker

should have in moving to Villa.

  9. I was just asking questions, and suddenly people react in defence, like I was entitled to ask them. Why the nerves?

In terms of owners and managers; they are on an even patch now aren't they?

I think the Egghead looks foolish, but you can't possibly judge him yet.

I am 100% certain he knows more about football than Lerner and Krulak does together, even though that is not a guarantee

for making it at this level. Not at all.

I am just saying we have a better stadium and a better history, other than that WH and AV are pretty much the same, we

    even have the same kits!

At WH he is settled, the captain and the main man. Why would he leave that for the same?

  10. Reo-Coker was pissed because the fans have slated him due to his crap performances this season.

He will leave sooner or later, but not for Aston Villa. Why would he leave for a club who has

nothing more to offer him that what he has already got?

    1. Owner (Don't think there is much difference, they are maybe more aggressive in handing matters)

    2. Manager (Curbs is on level with MON, perhaps even more liked)

    3. Squad (WH have a better squad than us right now)

    4. Fans?

    5. Europe? Certainly not

    Give me one single argument....
