  1. Just back - lot's of positives but I must say I still think we're a bit light. I liked Delph but have to agree that he's no Barry, at the moment. I'd like to see him play alongside Petrov though and he's certainly a very bright prospect.

Albrighton is a very good player, I really think he's the real deal, and he may force MON in to turning one of Young/Milner/Downing into a central midfielder (my hunch is that Downing was bought with this in mind) Lichaj did OK but very pleased we've got Beye. Gabby looked much more like the one that started next season to me, he didn't get much service but he did really well today - I'm stating here that I think he could be the surprise man this season. I also thought that Cuellar was much better than most others have posted, he was all over everything in the first half and passes the ball so intelligently, as a big fan of Davies I'm sad to say that he hasn't looked himself for the last 6 months, he was poor today in his positioning and distribution. Finally Nicky Shorey...all I can say is 'get well Freddy!'

My starting line-up for next week would be:

    Friedel

    Beye Davies Cuellar Shorey

    Albrighton Petrov NRC Milner

    Young

    Carew

Guzan, Gabby, Delph, Sidwell, Clarke, Heskey

No Sneijder in that line up Steell. Not confident then

Clarke looks quite a prospect aswell. Some great kids coming through 8)

Yeah good point. He can have Sidwells place, on the bench :winkold:

  3. I'd be surprised to see Parker go to West Ham until after the 18th when the arbitration panel make a decision on whether they will have points deducted over the Tevez thing. Surely there is a possibility that West Ham could be playing Championship football next season, therefore any signings they make in the meantime must have clauses around that issue. For Villa, and the rest of the Premiership, I suspect there may not be any movement on NRC, Parker, Barton or Bent until then?

  4. What do people think about Forrsell? I know some of you less enlightened characters will start droning on about SHA albino, unwashed scum, not worthy to wear the badge, etc, etc but seriously I think he was one of the best finishers around. I know he's had his injury problems but he reminds me very mush of Solskjaer and is a natural finisher.

Just a tought, don't crucify me! A good squad striker is all I'm thinking.

  5. This time last year I remember a lot of people saying how D'Allesandro would be an amazing signing for Portsmouth.

    Didn't turn out that way.

Spot on John, I always think of him everytime someone says 'If only we could get 'insert name of argentinian/brazilian/nicaraguan/korean here' they'd be the creative spark we need'. Generally speaking I think managers are coming to realise that a promising british youngster is a better investment than some over-hyped product of an overenthusiastic agent.

  6. I think you're allowed to post your 'hunches' on this post and mine is that the other player MON is waiting on is Darren Bent. I know that we've been linked with him all window and Charlton have said he's not leaving but Watford said that about Young and the fact that it has turned out that MON actually put in a bid for SWP makes me think that at the beginning of Jan our excellent management team put in bids for all the players MON wanted. I reckon Charlton are waiting to see if it's topped and will come back to Villa soon to say OK you can talk to him.

Oh and Marilyn Monroe paid Elvis to shoot Kennedy.

  7. Defoe still at Hoar Cross - with his agent - as of this afternoon. Couldn't give two **** who believes this but it's a fact. Just because he hasn't been rolled out for the cameras today doesn't mean he wont be before 31st of Jan. Here's hoping.

You'll find he was training with the rest of the Spurs squad at their training ground in North London or has he been cloned?!

Oooh, hasn't it gone quiet

  8. For what it's worth, and haven't read the whole thread (!) I reckon we'll sign a couple of players like Boa Morte and Harewood, both gettable, both give us options and both proven in the premiership. Boa Morte woudl give us much needed pace and width and Harewood would add bulk to the forward line.

If those 2 were the only players we signed, I'd be fairly happy.

    Right midfield?

I'd be pissed if we dont get a right midfielder in some form.

Totally agree, but I thought Boa Morte plays down the right?
