Fair enough if he is off for a good fee. Such raw talent but I guess it's unlikely to get the best out of under Emery, the way that he behaves and the maverick nature if his talent.

Would be interesting to find out exactly why he was just so motivated to move to Chelsea though?

    1. Hated the Villa? If so, why?

    2. Or hate the area in general wanting to be in more fancy London? ( I get it if true for a young lad from overseas)

    3. Much better financial package?

    4. Been told a guarantee starting spot?

3 absolutely. 4 I can’t see, unless maresca has decided he wants him, but they’ve been signing players without managers approval since the new owner came in. I’m sure Leicester fans were annoyed for parts of the season with how controlled Maresca had them playing, even when they were sat in 1st. Not sure how he likes his striker to play but we’ve definitely not seen enough from Duran to suggest he could come in and be the starting striker for a team hoping to finish top 4. He’s made 38 appearances for a team that’s finished top 4 at 20, would be guaranteed game time with us this season under a top manager. But he’s decided he wants to move to a team with a completely untested manager who were a complete shambles for 7 months under Poch. 40 million and we take their hand off and good luck to him.

Interesting that Villa are purportedly having to settle for getting less than their valuation of Luiz and take players they don't want in exchange when the media had been flogging stories about how Arsenal and Liverpool both want him.  Both of those clubs could surely afford to pay straight cash, and if both are truly interested we wouldn't have to let him go on a cutrate deal.  It seems that either:

    1.  The Arsenal and Liverpool interest is all a media fabrication to get clicks;

    2.  Emery really does rate McKennie and Iling; or

    3.  Though not the ideal solution, Emery and Monchi rate McKennie and Iling enough that getting them and a little cash is seen as better for Villa than getting full value in cash but helping the Gunners and Scousers strengthen.

Could also be the fact juventus are so keen so early, an arsenal transfer could take us into mid august. Get it done now and get him replaced sooner

Want or settled for because our hands are tied?

Are we really saying that if PSR wasn't a thing this deal would be happening?

If we weren't selling luiz to juve would we be buying McKennie? Personally, absolutely not a **** chance

I’m thinking it’s purely a depth signing which I don’t really mind as long as that’s the case. As long as we actually replace Luiz I think it’s fine

    Gallagher would fix this.

Would he though? The Gallagher signing points towards a system and tactics change imo

  5. The worry for me is if we lose Luiz and he’s replaced with barkley and Mckennie our midfield has declined significantly, and we’re not really replacing Luiz. Kamara will miss a few months of the season too and will take time to get back up to speed. It’s just not what you want to have going into our first champions league season.

I'm not sure about this signing at all. Old dog cant learn new tricks?
    Please proof me wrong.

Had a great season for one of the worst teams in the league. Would have been very handy to have second half of the season

Would take him over Barkley 100% regardless of cost.

Gallagher did well end of season for Chelsea in the deeper role so think we'd play him there. With his style I've always seen him as a long term SJM replacement but he could also be option if Luiz is sold at any point in next 12 months.

Kamara-Gallagher would be very very decent playing 4-2-3-1.

The guy's been playing regular premier league football for four full seasons now and still only 24. Did well at Palace in a more advanced role so would be good versatility for midfield.

I don’t think so to be honest, you need a Luiz type to play alongside kamara and Gallagher isn’t that player. I think he’d add something to our midfield but no way is he a player you want on the ball controlling possession

the worst cameo I’ve seen for a long time. Yet he got an assist so fair play 😂

Insane really, had no issues with him coming in

Absolutely awful. We don't deserve Champions League football with performances like that. That result will certainly give Spurs confidence, I could see them getting something out of the game against Liverpool.

    So frustrating.

Behave. Injuries and playing twice a week are killing us. We deserve champions league because we’re in 4th place it’s that simple. Spurs have played something like 15 less games than us do they deserve champions league?

    We have missed him..

I thought the season was over when he got injured, add in McGinn, and Luiz missing games due to suspension, and tielemans having multiple injuries we’ve done incredibly well to be sat 4th.

The reality is nothing lasts forever. If the opportunity arrived for Unai and his team to move to somewhere like Bayern for mega money he would go. I would suggest the better he does here the more chance he leaves: his value increases, he has made good on his Arsenal experience, ticked the Premier League box. I suspect he might want to manage in Germany, Italy and one of the top two in Spain. He is only 52 and the weather is terrible here.

I don't think the timing is right however, I think he will feel there is still Champions League and a convincing title challenge here as unfinished business. I don't think he will be here in after 25/26 season (two more full campaigns).

I think we’re blessed by the fact he has experience with psg and arsenal, the hierarchy at Bayern for example will be miles apart from what he’s been allowed to do here.
