  1. How on earth are we going to offload this shower of shit to anybody before next season starts . They`ll probably take 20m for Benteke , then the rest of the cash needed to buy real premiership quality will have to to come from direct investment . Any estimates for the value of the rest of the squad on the current transfer market . FRIGHTENING . Poor players bought by Lambert destined for lower league teams .

  2. One thing is sure is that if Lerner and Lambert are still here for next season we WILL go down , if not this season . Lerner must realise he can gain nothing by hanging on and not investing heavily for next season . Cut his losses , get out , take Lambert as well , and give us a fresh start for next season .

Something  that does worry me though is who he might sell to . He`s not Villa to the core and would sell us to any number of rich knobheads if the price was right .

  3. Just a thought , and it may be unconnected , but could Bennets ridiculously ill advised Q & A session be a result of " bullying " tactics from Culverhouse and Karsa just to humiliate the poor kid  ?

  4. So the question is , why has Lambert been apparently backing these pair`s training methods and attitudes if the players have been so obviously pissed off with them ? Is Lambert the gaffer or not . More questions over Lamberts stance in this situation .

  5.

Its just interesting for me how some of the successful managers of the past had poor chairmen....didn't really stop them from achieving some semblance of success.

    God almighty....Ron Bendall anybody.

We won the league and European cup under Bendall , so in what way was he a poor chairman?

exactly,........ so do you think it was down to him then, that won it?

He appointed Saunders and Barton who achieved a " semblance of success"!!!!!

  7. This " long term project " club in " transition " talk must stop now . Its bad enough hearing these platitudes from Lerner and Lambert , but when I hear some of our own supporters taking thesame line I despair .  Doesn`t every club have a long term plan and then when it goes pear shaped doesnt every club go into transition .

We are where we are as a result of MISTAKES taken by the board , chiefly bad managerial appointments since MON left . Its not part of some GRAND PLAN !!!!

  8. Makes you think actually how bad do we need to get before we do get relegated because this is by far the worst Villa team I`veseen in 40 years at the Villa . Even the crap below us can still beat us . Just a matter of time under Lerner

  9. Is Lambert instilling too much fear into the team no matter who we play . He seems obsessed with this idea that we can only play on the break all the time and eventually this gets through to the players in a negative way .

In the first half last night it was as if the " give and go " idea was totally lost on the Villa side , especially Westwood who was static on far too many occassions . Also noted how Delph would be attacking on his own into a dead end with absolutely no support .

The second half was better but Lambert really has to be more positive with a group of players who just seem to be terrified of going forwards.

Also Vlaar , however good he is on the deck , simply does not compete enough in the air with a big centre forward .

  10. Prepared now for a few good hidings over the next month. Bottom 3 by then and then it will be too late to turn things round . Haven`t seen a worse team in the league . Is having a team so devoid of premiership talent part of Lamberts project .

                                                             My club is being ruined.

  11. John when he came it was never going to be a quick fix over one or two seasons, I sort of knew it would have ups and lots of downs. When you are basically trying to restructure the whole playing side of a club and turnaround a culture it's a big ask to be honest , if it was easy then someone like me would be doing it. So for me we are no where near our destination at the moment. I don't think we'll go down and I don't expect top six . Top six takes a bit longer to build and certainly a level of consistency it takes ages to build into a squad. Maybe that's the problem? Maybe people still feel we are a top six club?

Maybe we should just leave them alone for a couple of years then Richard and come back when there`s some fooball being played

  12. Great club? Sorry this is a very very average club now, deluded to think otherwise.

    So are Chels

Its unwatchable, and then Lambert comes out with " We`re missing top class players like Benteke, Okore, Vlaar and............ Bennett !!!!! "

No... he really did say that

Benteke`s been out of sorts for weeks, barely seen Okore, and is probably as bad as his other signings. Vlaar would have made a difference, granted , and then Bennett ! enough said . Our next 5 games look unwinable , which would leave us no doubt stuck in the bottom 3 in February.

I can see a situation soon where we`ll have us , the supporters, calling for both Lerner and Lambert to go , and the pair of them just hanging on to the detriment of this great club which just 3 years ago was level with the likes of Everton and Newcastle.

The only hope of us staying up is the fact that there are only 7 or 8 decent teams in the league and the rest of us are equally piss poor.

If he really did say that (not calling you a liar) and included Bennett, fook, he really has lost the plot. Bennett and Luna are equally shite.

On radio WM . He must think wer`e all idiots

  14. Really can`t see Lerner going through the rigmarole of sacking Lambert and trying to find another manager who could do better with the same amount of money. He`d be putting even more pressure on himself . It`s quite obviouse he hasn`t got the investment to improve us and its a question of sitting tight and hoping for the best I`m afraid , which makes all talk of some " long term project " laughable . The question for us , the supporters , is whether Lerner puts his desire not to lose more money , above selling quickly so WE can progress as a club . I`m not holding my breath.

  15. Can we expect to be outplayed, outpassed and dominated by every team we play this season , be it Man City or relegation fodder like Fulham. Its become a weekly theme on MOTD that every opposing manager states that its the best his team has played all season and that they deserved more , and its always against Villa . I can`t see the problem in taking players on loan if they`re better than the players we`ve already got.

  16. I'm always optimistic, but after the match yesterday one of my sons dented my optimism with these stats …. none of our current midfield have scored or assisted (bar the very odd occasion ….  KEA tap in, Westwood's couple of assists last season etc) during their time at Villa or historically (apart from Delph years ago at leeds).

If Lambert is hoping that he will get any scoring help from our current midfielders it may well be a forlorn hope!

I've looked at other very ordinary Premiership teams and their midfields are statistically much more productive than ours.

Sadly it appears that if we want to compete in the Premiership we cannot do it with £1.5 million buys and £20,000 pw wages.

Can Lambert change RL's mindset by January?

All spot on, but Lambert could have used the money he did have to get a better class of midfielder

  17. This talk of us not being able to break into the top 6 or 7 due to financial reasons seems a bit spurious when you consider Everton , who I see as being the same stature as us , seem to be progressing well even though they too apparently have no money . Only differnce is they remained stable through the rougher times and now its paying off . The same accusations were being thrown at Kenright as Lerner is receiving now . Maybe the only solution is patience .

Got it all wrong today, Paul. Stop with the stupid formation.

Agree with that if we`d lost, but at least it was a point away. Beggars can`t be choosers. It`s the home tactics that worry me more.

It was still the wrong decision despite the result. It's kind of what worries me about Paul this year. You can have the right decision and the wrong result, like we've had a couple times this year already, but it seems like Paul is sacrificing a braver decision to play an actual attacking formation in favor of getting points.

What was once a very optimistic manager has become, perhaps, too much of a realist. You have to start believing in your team again, Paul, if you want move forward.

We really aren`t in a position with the players we`ve got to play brave attacking football away anywhere. Don`t even do it at home
