The teams around us ability to take points from the ‘top’ teams once again proving why we’re dead certs to go down. We have taken 1 point all season from the top 10

The worst side in the league always goes down,,, and we are that side.

Vardy was the main reason they win the league. His run of goals gave them the momentum. Same this season. Now he hasn’t scored in about 10 game “injured yesterday of course”, they are average

A bit like with villa when we signed Dean Saunders. Suddenly we were title challengers

No doubt Vardy will be back to smash a hat trick against us,,, get them back into the swing of things. It's what we do!

  3. I honestly can't see more than 5 more points for us till the end of the season. All those errors that we thought would get ironed out simply haven't been. Norwich looked far more impressive than us tonight,,,,, speed and energy,,, somethi g we are sadly lacking

That’s mental. If he’s responsible for us being poor he is equally responsible for getting us promoted.

I wouldn’t drag last season’s achievements through the mud. I think this was a step too far for him but what he did last season will always be a fond memory. It’s the happiest I’ve ever been as a Villa fan.

This is an interesting post and the point you raise about what is a football club is something I was thinking about earlier whilst out for a run.

You are right players come and go and there is little loyalty. Likewise with managers. Owners will often stay a little longer but as I have found in all of my 35 odd years following us to varying degrees they have either been out to make a few quid, feed their egos or simply incompetent.

You then come down to things like the stadium and training ground. As plenty of other clubs have shown these can be bought and sold.

For me what makes a football club is the only constant. The only thing that stays loyal. It is us the supporters. That is is the heart and soul of a football club. That passion, that love, that being willing to going through days, months, years of pain to feel those moments of ecstasy when a goal is scored, a win is secured or if your lucky enough a trophy is won. It is hard to explain to someone that doesn't share that passion but that feeling we have for our football club that lives within all of us is Aston Villa and no matter what happens, who plays for us, in whatever division we play in, that will never die.

So I think when people say we should stick together and be loyal it is simply a call to arms that as long as we do that then that heart and soul of the club remains and while there is a heart and soul there will always be an Aston Villa to support.

Maybe as supporters are what makes any club , we are actually being loyal to each other ! To my dad , my grandad , uncles present and past . Also , it helps if the club is run by Villa supporters at its heart ,,,,,whatever happened to Steve Stride who virtually ran the club in the eighties and nineties ,,,he was Villa through and through

  6. He'll still pick him for Reading on Tuesday . When the worst player on the pitch still gets a game then we may as well all pack up , stay in and watch Rotterdam 82 on the telly . RIP my Villa

  7. Zero shots on target ! Beyond belief ! Lansbury was always a threat for Forest yet comes to us and does nothing ! Our recruitment and coaching is a complete joke , and Bruce is totally to blame now . What was the sense in getting rid of Baker ? Admittedly he wasn't the best but the replacements are worse !

If my memory serves me correct ,I don't recall Arsene Wenger having to take his time for Arsenal to play attractive football ,and that was with a side who had previously played very direct . If that's how a manager wants his team to play ,that's how they play.

Comparing the Arsenal Wenger took over with the Villa ,Bruce took over????? Words really do fail me !

So now we're on such a great run , the attractiveness of the football is suddenly an issue ! If we get to the playoffs it,' ll be why didn't we get automatic promotion ! Then it'll be Bruce isn't good enough to keep us in the premier , or push for a European place !!                            After years of awful results ,we're winning again and the rest will hopefully follow . Luckily our owner wasn't as trigger happy as some of our "enlightened " fans would have liked him to be , and thrown us on the managerial merry go round again a couple of months ago .

Financially they will be better equipped at the very least..

But we were better equipped than the majority of teams above us but it's still a struggle.  The sides coming down will all be tainted by failure and top players won't be wanting to go there . The biggest threats are the teams there or thereabouts this year for promotion , not the descending sides

Well I don't know about on here so cannot comment but when that awful run of form went on and on and on most the fans don't seem critical

I watched Huddersfield closely in recent times with interest and I can say with Great confidence wagner is 10 times the manager Bruce will ever be

The 3 teams coming down likely to be Middlesborough Hull and Sunderland will be better equipped to prepare for life in the championship and a good chance of keeping their players with the new TV deal and increased para monies.

I feel personally Bruce has had his chance he made too many changes to a team that was being effective and it secured another season at this level...

The board are sticking with him regardless and I feel in the long run this will be a bad mistake.. Hope I am wrong  but after seeing years of dark age football with villa it's time we stepped into the 21st century

Boro, Hull and Sunderland are no more better equipped to bounce back than we were . It's a complete fallacy this notion that the teams coming down are better than the existing teams in the league . They said the same about us , and it's bollocks

The problem is like I quoted previously in this thread, we cannot attract quality managers. We need a Mourinho, Ancelotti, Koman even. But we obviously cannot get these guys so I have no idea what the answer is. We just have to hope we find a manager who can make us click.

I totally agree   Sadly though , the level that we're at means it really is pot luck . Wagner's doing a good job at Hudd at the moment but was his CV any more impressive than Gardes women he came to us . Pulis isnt always top 8 ! Hughton at Brightons had some awful times , Allardyce , Pardew , Moyes , Martinez . They all have a flash in the pan season or two , and if it's your club then your luck's in , but unless you find that rare nugget , then this is how it's going to be for us for the foreseeable future

  13. Is it possible that manager after manager can be so shown up to be bad managers when they come to us ? Are these players that we are bringing in mentally capable enough ? Our situation is becoming a uniquely bad one which overpowers the majority of even good to average players ,,,,,and managers . Expectation , history ,,,,,,,,and hope is so heavy that I really don't know how it can be turned round . Managers and players are being totally overwhelmed by our situation ,

It's a legitimate option. Dressing room revolt. Ignore his instructions and let one or two of the natural leaders in the dressing room decide. England also won a rugby world cup this way. We need about 3 wins. Any idiot could get us them, not Bruce though.

I think the last few weeks have shown that we have no natural leaders in the team . No character or fight

How can you have team spirit when 6 of the starting 11 only have known each other for 2 or 3 weeks and same with other 5 knowing them.

I must be expecting too much

  16. Both Wagner and Houghton have been mentioned as possible replacements for Bruce , but neither of these two have ever inherited such a pile of dross that Bruce has inherited . Things have gone pear shaped for Hougbton in the past with teams he's constructed himself ,and Wagner is having a decent season at Hudd , but I don't see who could take on this job and get immediate results . We need to realise that what's gone on down there is the biggest slump in English football for years . It really is that big , and rotating managers like we have done will not work ,,,,,,,stabilise then progress .

How many relegations has he had?

Pretty much every single point in that article from 6 years ago could be applied to AVFC under Bruce, every single thing. E is a shambles of a manager who will be outgoing by any half decent manager.

I am sure if he had spent his playing career at Norwich rather than Man It's he wouldn't be given half the amount of leeway he gets from the media.

Who would you replace him with ?
