  1. That was a good question Villadom. I can't see any possible reason why Randy did but I'm so, so glad he did. If they get sucked in totally by what is Aston Villa I predict only good things to come.
  2. English football is massive in Scandinavia and kids grow up watching the Premiership. Though Northern Europe may not be the largest market in the world in terms of population, there are many potential fans up here as the Premierhsip is so popular. Winning over a couple of young glory hunters from the cold North could boost our shirt sales quite a bit. We're wealthy too, you know, and plenty of oil money to spend on tickets and merchandise :winkold: It is a good idea. Why not take it a stage further by seeing how many of your fellow football fans (preferably Villa) would like to make a trip to a game? If you could get 40 or 50 I'm sure the club would do something, tell them what you'd like ie, short tour of the ground, photo's taken etc. A little organisation from your side could make the idea a possibility.
  3. Is there a better centre back in the prem at the moment than Olly? Ferdinand - average, but good at jumping on the back of goal scorers backs and showing his open mout, the clearing in the woods. Campbell - good, but I'd still prefer Olly as he is more mobile. Terry - good also, but positional sense and concentration in the prem and at international level sometimes lacking. Ledley King - good, could be very good, maybe on a par if you allow for Olly's mistake against Johnson. There's nobody else.
  4. I love this debate! I've been having the same debate with friends for the last 6 months and I am alone in thinking that Olly is as good as Mcgrath but as yet, not better. Sure, McGrath had the vision, skill and reading of the game ability like no other. But I remember him having bad games, being 'skinned' by attackers and even out of position on ocasions. Having watched the Villa for many years I would have to say that Olly is a truely outstanding player that we have on our books. Dedicated, professional, hard working and has brilliant pace...so very important in the game today and let's be honest, if we remove those rose tinted glasses, where McGrath would be left wanting if he was in the game today... even in his prime. Not saying he was a slouch or anything but he wasn't quick. I'm amazed that some of the so called bigger guns havn't been in for Olly and hope it stays that way. If that prooves to be the case for future seasons we will have someone who can take the McGrath crown.
