  1. Delph regained his crown as interception king from El Ahmadi tonight. 4 interceptions and 5 tackles.

I liked the way at times he dribbled out of trouble to create space in midfield.

However, when he dribbled out of trouble he got a simple pass away and that was sweet because he took the simple ball. But when his dribbles were deliberate attacking moves I think he got dispossessed or misplaced the pass at the end of it every time.

What's the difference? He tries to do too much himself. He's not dribbling 40 yards and passing the ball back to Guzan anymore but he is obviously over-complicating it. It's stopping him being an attacking force.

If Delph could dribble and then release effectively then he would link midfield and attack better than any other midfielder we have.

Completely agree with this. Needs to lift his head a little more to find the right pass at times, then he'll be adding to his assists tally no end.

  2. If this guy plays against Liverpool I'm curious to see what position he'll take up and whether any of our usual front 3 will be rested...

I guess he can play in the hole allowing us to keep Benteke, Gabby and Weimann in place but will that open us defensively up too much in midfield?

Really not sure how he'll be used if I'm honest but excited to find out.

  3. Without a doubt he's becoming one of my favourite players. You can tell how important it is to him to put in a good performance and you can see how much that goal meant to him and the rest of the team. He seems very much a team player.

Just a hunch but I predict he'll be captain at some point, probably when he can speak English!

  4. That's what you call.....reading the play of the game.

watch him looking at Weimann and then galloping

I like how he was also on the lookout for Weimann before he took the shot himself to sum up his options, then made the right decision to take it on. Good awareness under pressure.

  5. Hello all,

I'm Nick from Warwickshire. Been watching a while and thought it was time to start contributing.

Not been a regular to VP yet but planning on getting down now personal circumstances allow it.

Really excited about the season ahead with the new philosophy that Lambert has bought in. The new players bring much uncertainty and hope all at the same time, who knows what's going to happen this season? I am very hopeful on a surprisingly good end to the season.

UTV, and a great site this is!
