Not sure if it because its Friday... not sure if its because its a bank holiday weekend.... but refreshing this page appears more important than work....
However, the continued lack of movement is slightly getting to me.....

just give him the ball......

Clearing out the deadwood and tying our younger assets down with long contracts.....
hang on a minute, is someone trying to run the club properly.......
Peoples concerns about him being a weak link shows what potential the rest of the squad is starting to show (imo). With people like Amavi in the squad, bacuna may continue to develop into a class act!
That is actually a very good point
I try....

Probably incorrectly, Im quietly confident about tomorrow....
Normally the first game against a prem newcomer would fill me with dread. However, as we are going into this as advertised underdogs (pundit predictions/odds), we can hopefully go out there and play the game we want...
Lets smash them...

Being reported on the BBC live transfer update...

BBC WM Sport
Posted at 15:20Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor's move to Aston Villa is on the brink of collapse as the player is understood to be reluctant to move out of the capital. The Togo striker has been in talks with Villa for weeks and look set to be reunited with Tim Sherwood, who was his boss at Spurs. But now the deal, while not totally dead in the water, is pretty close to it.
Villa fans will be philosophical as they have had a far busier summer than many would have thought and there are lots of players to get excited about. Furthermore, Sherwood has attacking options now with Rudy Gestede, Libor Kozak, Jordan Ayew and Gabby Agbonlahor.
Why has it taken Adebayor so long to realise Birmingham is a bit of a distance from London? Has it moved?

Not sure if its been posted on any of the other threads yet... but interesting read in the Guardian!
The title caught my eye...
Why Aston Villa could be the surprise package of the Premier League seasonWritten by a Villa fan
Which probably explains why it is saying what we (I am) are all hoping!

What a difference a day makes...
Last night it appeared Awey was ours subject to a medical... reading the last few pages looks like Lorient is not playing ball?
You cant blame Ayew for being pissed....
Still keeping those fingers crossed that this one comes off!
-
we've got rid of 3 strikers already though
Lets be honest.... we have got rid of 1 striker....

Until/if the guy turns up and plays a full season.... how can someone quantify what he is worth? Passed experience in a different team in a different league?
Until he is playing in our team, in this league, with Timmy's 'philosophy', I cant say he is worth x or y.... if by Christmas he has scored 10 goals and we are sitting pretty in the top half of the table, £12m seems like a bargain....
Either way, I am willing to take that chance (with someone elses money) at this stage. Exciting signing IMHO

with the little I know of this guy, I see this as an exciting signing.
If we can combine this with the services of the experienced adebayor for a year, we may be picking up a gem!
The combination of adebayew (trademark pending) could cause teams havok next season.... and at this stage would soften the blow of the big guy leaving this week.

Is it wrong I have no idea who the second player is?
michael bradley?

i wouldn't pay more than 8 - 9 mill for him anymore and its time to move on
This is the problem with the Benteke money were going to be held to ransom
Its a sign of the times... and appears to be the going rate for a 'hot prospect'.... especially if you are a buyer from the rich Premier League!
I much prefer this to the days when we were spunking similar amounts on the likes of Curtis Davis.....

Is it actually confirmed we have a agreed a fee then? Think I missed that.

New Aston Villa midfielder Tom Cleverley has hailed the influence of Champions League winning midfielders Paul Lambert and Roy Keane in his decision to join the club on a season-long loan deal from Manchester United, with an option to make the move permanent.

For me...
Guzan
Hutton, Vlaar, Senderos, Cissokho
Westwood
Gabby, Delph, Cleverly,Richardson
WeimannBench: Given, nZog, Sanchez, Grealish, Clark, Bacuna, Bent.
I think Richardson should start... Grealish/nZog can replace him when he starts to flag (65th min). Tekkers to replace Weimann when fit.... feed the beast!
I know its been said before... but its a nice feeling having to decide what 'good' players should be left out instead of which crap players need to pad out the starting line up!

not sure if this has been posted?
Aston Villa have completed a deal for Elche midfielder Carlos Sanchez, Goal understands.
The Colombia international has signed a four-year deal with Paul Lambert’s team after a £4.8 million (€6m) fee was agreed with the Liga side.
Goal has learned that Sanchez is due in the west Midlands on Tuesday to complete a medical with the club expected to announce the transfer as early as this evening.
Sanchez, nicknamed The Rock, has been heavily linked with a move to Villa Park this summer after an impressive World Cup with Jose Pekerman’s team and will provide Villa with further options in central midfield.
The 28-year-old joins after one season in Spain, where he helped keep Elche in the top-flight as they finished 16th.
Sanchez, who has 44 caps for Colombia, has been previously linked with Bolton and West Ham while at French side Valenciennes -
Good news, shame it is only on loan.
Is this the last year of his contract?
Yes, Signed a four year deal in summer 2010.
Then if it is a season long loan we have effectively just given him a free transfer. He won't be coming back.
Goodbye and good luck Nathan.
BBC reporting its a 6 month Loan.... so you can save your goodbyes until the end of the season!

Surely you're less likely to perform well in a poor side than a good one.
AKA Stephen Ireland....
-
Hard game to start a tough month... Hoping for a point @ 2-2, Sylla to score a last minute header from a Dawkins corner to level the match....
One can dream!
Would also start Dawkins and Sylla. Everyone knows how to play us... lets add a few twists from the start!
Pointless bringing Dawkins on if we are already losing and the heads have dropped... but if he's sh#t, bring Gabby on as his replacement.
-
Nice to see page 19 contains a lotta lotta love for Sylla!
Dont know if he is going to be any good.... but looks the part, so bloody hope so!
And yes, Fellaini's (and evertons) introduction into the Prem could be very interesting...
