One thing you need to remember.. there is no smoke without fire.

What I mean by that is, theres no hysteria without Bruce ball.

He is now doing what fans have been asking of him and this team for donkeys. Good to see he is eventually getting it right after almost 16 months in charge.

No one can argue we are now going in the right direction.

The thing I don’t get considering the state the club has been in for years, how anyone really expected it to turn around instantly. 16 months is pretty good to be honest when you consider where teams like Leeds and Sunderland are now.

Im probably exaggerating but even the best manager in the world would of had a task to get us promoted last year.

  2. There are lots of Villa interviews with players on the AVFC YouTube channel where they ask each player ‘who is the funniest in the dressing room’. Richards name is always mentioned.

So he is basically a very expensive court jester. But saying that having fun at work always improves the overall atmosphere. (I know I am clutching at any positive i can find in this case)

A bit of a talisman too....he is clearly popular with his team mates and very focused on the winning run.

The euphoria when he scored.....haven't seen that in team for years.

That will be a very important goal I reckon.

The celebration last night when he scored is one of those moments when you start to believe we can actually do this can’t we.

In the top corner, at the Holte, to send the heathens home with their tails between their legs.

Unfortunately then is not the time my brother. Patience.

He will score but only when the numbers align and automatic promotion is a certainty. Maybe against Derby, but the prophecy is not clear.

Then he will transcend only to be seen again when mankind needs him the most.

I just popped into this thread, page 3-1 is posters saying how much they love him then you come on to page 302 its said his contract wont be renewed and most are happy! talk about divided opinion!

Alan ‘the prophet’ Hutton, does not need a contract he plays when he wants. Contracts in the past where just for us mortals to make sense.

  6. I also missed off Terry and Hogan. Although he is invaluable to us and only contracted to us for the end of the season. What price would people accept this window to be without him for the rest of season. Hypothetically of course would the board accept a cheeky 5 mill bid??

    • Chester - £15m minimum, is very good and would be hard to replace
    • Taylor - Would let him go for £2m.
    • Hutton - Free, contract is up, if we are still in the championship next year I'd offer him another year on small wages.
    • Whelan - Free, his wages are too high to make him worthwhile.
    • Jedinak - Free, his wages are too high to make him worthwhile.
    • Hourihane - £6m, he is useful and not too old could do a job in the PL if used accordingly.
    • Adomah - £8m, having a good season but can be replaced for less than that and is not that young.
    • Green - Not for sale yet. Will take £50m in 2 years time.
    • Davis - £2m plus a sell on clause, might become an average league 1 striker, might be better.
    • Grealish - £25m if sold now, could be worth at least double that if he fulfills potential at some stage.
    • Kodjia - £8m, injuries have devalued him a lot.

Thes opinions might look silly in the future.

Agree with most. But even though he hasn’t been the best lately I reckon there would be uproar if we let Davis go for 2mill and a sell on clause.

  8. As a reprise from the intense going round in circle debate of Bruce's effectiveness as manager so far, and seeing we are in the transfer window, I was wondering hypothetically what fee would people think would be the best price we could get for our key players, and would be that magic number which the board would stop and consider selling?

Obviously I'm not suggesting we sell any of these players, and selling them would massively harm our chances of promotions. But what fee would you accept, under the idea that ever player has a price, we were under no pressure to sell and if promised the transfer fee would be put straight back into funding incoming transfers?

    • Chester - 15 mill?
    • Taylor - 5 mill?
    • Hutton - 2 mill?
    • Whelan - 2 mill?
    • Jedinak - 2 mill?
    • Hourihane - 6 mill?
    • Adomah - 15 mill?
    • Green - 10 mill?
    • Davis - 12 mill?
    • Grealish - 18 mill?
    • Kodjia - 18 mill?

  9. For me this is the most telling stat for how Bruce has turned us around. We have conceded the least goals in the last 15 minutes in the league. Only 1 goal!

Think about how many years we lost points at the death of games, where we knew as a fan the opposition were going to score when we conceded a late corner, we knew heads would be down and backs would be against the wall. That does not happen anymore, and that is down to Bruce.

May not be the best football, but we are no longer a soft touch, and we are no longer losers mentally. I really wouldn't swap Bruce for anyone right now.

Yes the manager at Wolves is doing a great job, but he didn't have to raise a titanic which had been sinking for a hell of long time.

  10. Alright guys bit of advice went City away last Sat and loved it, even though the result destroyed me. Buying tickets for Everton game, haven't been Villa Park for a while (live in Manchester and work alot) where is the best block in the Holte End to sit, for maximum banter, noise and singing?

  11. Tried to buy tickets yesterday but can only buy them if I can collect them from villa park. I live in Manchester though, is there anyway round this, don't really want to end in the city end?

  12. There isnt a single player in Premier League history that deserves a testimonial

    Why is that?

I can think of a few (totally presuming it's players loyalty you might have the issue with)

    Le Tissier, Giggs, Scholes etc

  13. I reckon the reason we didn’t sign Vlaar is down to wages.

I don’t think we are necessarily working on a one out, one in policy. But don’t think Lambert could justify having 5 defenders on high wages with Colins, Dunne, Warnock and Hutton already commanding decent wages. Until we offload one I don’t see us bringing in another ‘established’ defender on good wages. I think signings like Lowton, Cresswell etc Lambert will be able to sign them at will, due to it not having too much impact on increasing our overall wage structure.

I still think Lambert has the green light for another fairly big singing (in terms of wages), but think this will be a striker, freed up by getting rid of Heskey. But before anymore big signings can happen players like Hutton, Collins etc will be need to shown the door.
