  1. Paul Lambert only won 2 of his league games at Livingston before leaving the club in the February of the season he joined, but I think he's improved a wee bit since then!

Have to say, I'm gutted Livi haven't come out and said anything about the whole Rangers situation. They are in Div 1 now and so would probably get a vote in the matter.

Then again, if theres a chance they can trade their say for a second promotion spot in the Div 1 for the foreseeable future then they might take that.

  2. Doubt he'll play for us again. I felt everything pointed to him wanting away since his loan to Olympiakos. And now as someone mentioned the press are saying we are listening to offers for him (see bottom of the El Ahmadi article on the beeb too). Reckon he wanted out once Houllier left. He may have potential to be better than he was in the half season he was with us, but if (and I think it's more a question of when) he does go I'm not sure we will be missing out on much. Not much keeping a player who doesn't want to be here.

  3. That's it villaglint. Reserves; while being a good gauge of ability; are not a perfect gauge.

Very true. I'd love to see any of the youngsters in the reserves come through and become better than Bannan, whether that is Carruthers or Johnson or Gardner. But definitely with the former two I just don't think their performances in the reserves warrants them getting ahead of Bannan at least at the start of the season. Bannan has had some good games last season, and I feel under a better manager he might show some more promise.

Obviously they may well get a good shot if he does get loaned out this season as someone mentioned above (I really hope he doesn't mind), but not before Gardner. The performances he showed last season were pretty decent.

  4. Having grown up just down the road from Glasgow, and knowing a lot of Ranger's fans, I was very much hoping they'd end up in the 3rd division. My mate who is a Livingston fan had to deal with them getting sent to the 3rd division, its just hypocrisy that Rangers who in very similar circumstances get demoted to the first division that they'll no doubt make it out of in 1 year. Well hypocrisy if football was just all about the football...

It really sets a bad precedent that Rangers are getting away so slightly, especially since it looks like they won't even get a transfer embargo now. The whole Scottish football system needs a revamp, and in line with Clyde's statement I reckon it should start with Rangers starting at the very bottom.

  5. Derby one's one looks dreadful because the sponsor just dominates the shirt. Hibs have a nice plain top, good on Crabbies for making their logo match the rest of the shirt.

  6. I fail to see how anybody can really comment on who is the better prospect out of Bannan, Carruthers and Johnson (particularly the latter) when the reality is they are most likely to only have seen Bannan properly in action. We all raved about Bannan when he first started out which shows how things don't always turn out as they are planned.

Daniel Johnson is nearly twenty and has not played properly for Villa yet - Bannan was playing for Scotland at that point in his career. Bear in mind when Bannan was nineteen/twenty we actually had some good central midfielders at the club and he was still making the odd appearance.

Just ridiculous to compare. Carruthers has been good in about half an hour of football for us. He's a prospect yes, but he would have been a regular last season if he was at Bannan's level of ability as we had such an out-of-sorts midfield.

Totally agree. Think people would be rushing to say that Carruthers and Johnson are going to be better. Really no clue how they will be until they properly step up to the first team and get some more games.

I'd like to see Bannan get a good chance this season. It looks like he has some great vision when he plays, but maybe doesn't quite have the skill to back it up at the moment. I'd hope for an above average season for him this year (anymore and he'll get nabbed by someone else like all the rest of our good players...). If he has a worse season than the last, then I'd start maybe asking whether he is good enough for us.

  7. The grey training top is ok at best, hope there will be than just those 2 available. From what I remember Milwall had some decent stuff last season.

On another note, this may be a stupid question but are our tops the same sizes as the West Ham ones this season? See I'm staying in London for the summer and would want to try one on before buying as I'll fall between small and medium in the new macron sizes, so I may force myself to try on one of the West Ham tops first just so I get the right size and then order the equivalent in the home. Cheers for any help.
