  1. We will find out soon enough whether it's RM as Whelan will spill the beans, but I think it may be Lambert who I would be happy with just to piss the Norwich fans off!

Think its you that'll be pissed off, does this sound like a guy jumping ship?

    Check date.

Don't need to check date pal, put it this way if he's approached and offered the job he'll come and then you wipe your arse with that article.

And thats why you'll fail in getting him, too cock sure!

  2. Look Paul Lambert hates the media, he gets easily riled by them and yesterday was that day. I would not read anything into what he says to the media.

    Nail on head

And believe me after 3 years of him being here we know.

I would say you've no chance of getting him now, but you won't believe that.

  3. I wouldn't be against Lambert but if he becomes manager I really really hope he doesn't sign Grant Holt.

He's the perfect age and ability to warrant a 3 year, £65k p.w. contract.

Maybe you should read this first:

Another one who seems to have missed the sarcasm :D

Didn't miss it mate, just keeping you up to date with Norwich issues as it seemed relevent re. Lambert staying here.

So that's your star forward putting in a transfer request allied to your manager remaining positively non commital every time the subject of his own future is raised?

I can definitely see a scenario where both remain at Carrow Road, but that will be as much to do with lack of interest from elsewhere, rather than your Chief Exec playing hardball.

In the 3 years that Lambert and our CEO have been here, not once have they ever replied to speculation.

Until it becomes official nothing will be said.

  5. Hey Wiz, are you still confident in PL staying put?

Odd that reports are "suggesting" that he will be speaking to Villa Mon/Tues but nothing either denying or confirming this from either club.

From a selfish POV I would love to see Lambert as Villa's manager but I think the majority would prefer OGS and I guess so would the Norwich fans.

    In a word yes.

We play Celtic Tuesday night, if he's here that may tell you something.

  6. Hey Wiz, mind answering my question from previous page: "Does he use dour counter-attack hoofball tactics ala Martin O'Neill or is that just a misconception?"

No, he doesn't, his teams play on the deck, he's his own man imo, I hope that answers jspuds question too.

  7. WIZ....WIZ....WIZ

Just to get your attention .... how would you describe Paul Lamberts style of football?

Always goes for a win, even pulls key defenders off to put more strikers on, we even had 5 in one game!!

Never settles for a draw, exciting and reckless at times...but never dull.

    Likes the passing game.

  8. If he is willing to talk to us then we'd be **** bonkers not to. The guy has done an unbelievable job at Norwich for 3 years. I just don't see that Norwich will let us speak with him though.

Our CEO has already said we won't. :)

Thing is, if Lambert wants to go then they may be forced to let him talk. Us Villa fans know as much as anyone that you can't keep unhappy staff, whether it's playing staff or managerial staff. If someone wants to leave then chances are they will.

FWIW... I think you will keep him.

Lambert leaving Norwich will be more down to Lambert wanting to leave and kicking up a fuss, rather than your CEO letting clubs talk to him.

    Sadly, I agree.

  9. Well the Star report is probably a load of bollocks. We would need permission t otalk to Lambert and no signs we have it. Monday? Well Randy is back in USA and finally factually incorrect report as Randys jet did not take OGS back.

Usuall easy write up from reading between the lines on blog sites

You won't get permisson end of, our CEO went public on that last week.

Now imo, that will result in two possible scenario's.

    1. Lambert will resign.

    2. He will comitt to us.

But pining your hopes on a Daily Star article, dear oh dear gentleman.

  10. Understand that Lambert etc have to play their cards close to the chest as who knows what will happen, but I have to say it has been three days of speculation now since we sacked Mcleish and also the speculation just after the Bolton game (and his comments then were not exactly of the f off nature). He or Norwich could have come out in the last few days and pledged his future to them, totally distancing himself from any rumours and been categoric in the process.

There have been rumours and press speculation that he is not the man granted but nothing from him . This fact keeps my hopes high

Now I realise this sounds desperate on my part but Lambert NEVER re-acts or speaks on speculation, it winds us up but he just doesn't.

Should you ever get him you'll discover this for yourselves.

  11. I can see Norwich playing real hardball for Lambert. They are on a high after a 12th place finish on their first season back up. They'll want to keep as many of their playing and management staff as possible and may just point blank refuse to let us speak to Lambert. Whereas Whelan seems willing to deal with anybody if the price is right.

Take that as guarenteed...and already been said by our CEO.

That NEVER works, and is the last resort of the desperate. If it happens you've lost him. Because either he's happy to stay - in which case there's no need anyway - or he wants to consider his options, in which case it will only make him resentful, and he'll end up going anyway. There may be messy legal/financial entanglements, but it won't stop a want-away employee.

It saw off Burnley last time we had all this, but in general you're right, it will force the issue one way or not.
