vlaar is injury prone. this was taken off wikipedia but you get the idea
However, on 16 September 2007, Vlaar got injured in the Eredivisie away match against Roda JC (1–3).[12] Vlaar needed a surgery on the cruciate ligament and was out for the rest of the season.[13] After the surgery, Vlaar was confronted with an additional setback, as he had a bacterial infection. Vlaar recovered from his injury at the beginning of the 2008–09 season. However, during pre-season, Vlaar got another injury at a medial collateral ligament of his knee. After being sidelined for over a year, Vlaar returned to the training field. After an innocent coming together with Kevin Hofland, Vlaar damaged his cruciate ligament again. It was the same injury he had in the previous season, causing him to miss a complete season again

we should be safe anyway but we should win this with fulhams poor away form
3 points from sunderland and 1 at norwich = A good time for all at wigan away
As stated above its a little arrogant to think that we are going to get a win against Sunderland especially with a new manager in place and fighting to avoid the dreaded drop.
imo sunderland can have new manager but the team is not good enough especially without fletcher. would not suprise me if they dont win again
we have nothing to fear against a fulham team who have been terrible away in the prem for the last 13 years, only worry is phil dowd having more of an impact than berbatov

big ask mate
last game of thhe season celebrating survival and possibly sending dave whelan and his small club down.
but also in need of a spare ref if theres one going

we have seen this season that too many young inexperienced players unbalance the squad. We need 2 or 3 fresh players with some first team experience
im not saying play the whole team but if we sign another striker he will be back up for benteke not many players are going to be happy with that. the kids would be

I see improvement in the squad recent months. for me we need a
backup goalkeeper
1st choice centre defender (Baker and Clark are decent backups though Baker could be a starter)
reserve full back comfortable on either side
centre midfielder
attacking midfielder/winger
striker if Bent leaves
he might be able to use some of the next gen kids for this

come on basel
i really do hate those spuds
fans need taking down a peg or 2

this ffp is a step away from being like spain with clubs having own tv deals
-
well with norwich charging 45 for away fans they must be racking it in
-
becuase it just keeps the rich way ahead of the others.
it would never be beneficial to a club like us
all the clubs with big stadiums and sponsorship deals would have more money to spend

Does the team collectively concede goals? So for example you blame Lowton and the defence for the 60 goals but no-one else, take Benteke against Wigan didn't stick with his man and it was a goal. The team as a whole has been poor defensively, in fact I'd say the last 3 managers have struggled defensively, you keep going on about last season, however if you stick 10 men behind the ball then it's likely you will have a better defence.
Of course there's odd goals that have nothing to do with the defence.
But on the whole when you concede this many goals I'd say there has to be something wrong with the defence. Do you disagree?
I do, as I think the midfield has been far worse when it comes to protect the defence. I think many goals we've conceded are more down to them than our defenders.
Agree, the defence prior to Sylla coming in had no protection in front of them.
to be honest lowton gets more protection then whoever is unlucky enough to be playing left back.
hes been consistent and one of our better players
hes off if we do go down

When judging them individually, do you not think that Lowton has been better than Hutton?
In terms of going forward, technical ability and potential, yes he's a better player. I honestly don't think he's been good enough as a defender this season though. That's not to say he can't improve or won't improve and become a much better defender than Hutton.
>All it would have done, would have delayed the re-build for a s
eason.
Agreed. But then relegation won't help either.
Like I said, lots of potential in the team but I think our poor defending is mainly down to players not performing well enough. Injuries and tactics have played their part as well though.
It needs to improve next season that's for sure.
Did you actually watch Hutton defending last year? He was the worst right back we ever had.
