  1. The midweek European grind is something players and fans will have to get used to, if we want to establish ourselves as a so called 'elite' side. For all the disquiet about last night's performance we need to bear in mind that was our 52nd game of the season - we've played 15 more matches than Spurs and I'd say we look more up for it in games than they do......pretty remarkable, to be fair.

  2. Our defence was dogturd for the whole game today......poor passing out, lightweight challenges and leaving men unmarked at every setpiece....

    So lets blame Olsen.

I'm not his biggest fan but that result certainly wasn't down to him.

I'd argue Unai was more at fault for allowing the shit all round play to go on as long as he did without changing it.

  3. Came home raging 'cos we've nicked a draw despite getting battered for most of the game. Wife asks if we were home or away (doesn't really follow  football)......I grumble 'feckin home'......then I get to thinking ?

As pissed off as I am at supposedly tossing off 2 points, if we had actually been playing away would I have been so cheesed off ? If it was an away 'smash and grab'we'd be high fiving and giving each other relieved glances......

So f**k it.....I'll just pretend we were away and eat my takeaway........there's always the next game.

  4. Love the bloke, but he had an absolute mare......surprised he didn't  get the shepherds crook at half time, he was that bad..........but in fairness, he wasn't on his  own.

  5. Interesting reading of the current legal battle between Sports Direct and Newcastle over the agreement that Newcastle will only sell their new Adidas shirts via JD Sports. Apart from the fact that I hope the new Villa shirts will be available from more than one source, the other interesting snippet that came out was the fact that SD paid Adidas £16.55 per shirt for other Adidas-shirted club tops.

I'll be even more intrigued to see the justification for the inevitable £80-120 pricing of our new shirt given the comparative cost price from the manufacturer. Maybe Nuremberg Villian can shed some light with his professional insight into the costing/pricing debate ?

  6. 2 extremely competent performances by Ezri which demonstrated his composure and flexibility.

I've no doubt that Safegate will reward him by picking Dunk (for his decision making) and Gomez (excellent fitness record) in front of him for the Euro's.

I can just see the press conference now......wank Sky journos lapping up his explanation like the useless cnuts that they are.

  7. I liked Merse as a player, but as a pundit he's woeful. Trying to take over from Kamara as the token thicko who can't pronounce players surnames properly to get giggles......he makes Clinton Morrison look intelligent. His opinion on Watkins penalty taking may have more than a grain of truth, but Ollie offers so much more to the team than Toney.

  8. Just reading their LTLF forum match thread. Apart from their delusional theory about our high line getting ripped apart, the impolite descration of the Villa crest and their general half wittedness, its an entertaining read........now lets tear the scab b**tards a new one....

  9. In fairness to him, he and his agent have probably seen us pay off Bertie to go and find a new club and are holding out for us to do the same. He gets a good bung to allow us to tear up the contract and he's free to negotiate a decent contract as a free agent. Whatever we think of him, he's an England international who's played for 2 major teams - somebody will take a chance with no fee involved.

They can be anti football and highly effective. They realised that we struggle to break down teams that sit back so they got 10-11 men behind the ball at all times and defended their box. They then played long to Gordon/ Isak/ Almiron. They lived mostly for dead balls that they made the most of them.

it was Steve Bruce, Tony Pulis tactics very well executed.

Respectfully.....thats bollocks mate. They played around us, over us and through us. Midfield weak as piss, defence lackadaisical and slow, non existent forwards......and it's been like it for nearly 2 months, it was just a matter of time before someone took advantage.

Great, let’s all criticize one of the players who had zero impact on us being behind 3-0…🤦🏼‍♂️

let me just jump over to the Diaby or Ramsey thread to see if they get the same amount of abuse

    Spot on.

Not one single player turned up tonight.

    Awful from 1-18.

.....and as much as I love Unai, he has to take much of the blame tonight. Newcastle had us figured out after 90 seconds - he waa either too slow or more likely too stubborn to react. If you get caught in possession arojnd your own box 10 times in 10 minutes, its probably time to try something different.....

Made of glass and not strong enough for the rigours of the Premiership.

....I know, but enough about Calvert-Lewin......what do you think of Sanson ?
