Better than Jesus!
-
Good player, with experience and getting to know the team, I would expect to see more of him also offensively.
-
Defensively suspect I say that much.
-
One of the only who can win a defensive header in our team, or so it seems.

Watkins got two assists, hold the line, setup Ings for one more, unlucky not to score. I'd say 8/10 display.

Please bring in another striker.
Ollie Wastekins is not the answer.
300 chances needed to score.
Chances? Needs to run from midfield against two defenders, I guess that is a chance.

Better than last week.
Ramsey is back, has woken up and realised preseason is finished.
Watkins and Ings both looking better, tough I think despite the goal, Watkins has looked better.
Coutinho missing again,
McGinn slowing everything down and losing possession too much, but he's not as bad as last week, though still our weakest player imo.
Kamara class.
McGinn won the ball and launched the longball for Ollie in the build-up to the goal. Otherwise yes not the best game so far.
Defensive set-pieces a big worry. Ludwig would make us better in defending them. Ings in the front post should have cleared two corners. Small mistakes in the box can easily lead to goals.
-
Lovely goal, McGinn winning the ball in midfield, and sending longball for Ollie. Who passes to Ings (Or Coutinho) and Ings scores lovely goal.

Almost. I guess the pressure was too much and Mings thus was selected again ;-). Still would have preferred my lineup.

Always easy to tell that manager's selections suck (especially afterwards), but its also good to consider how would you change it. If I was our manager this would be the team against Everton, and we would go with high pressing style.
Martinez
Cash Calum Mings Ludwig
Kamara Luiz
KKH Buendia Bailey
Watkins

Sad news. One of our own, moving again for bigger pay day. All the best Chuk anyway.

Great left foot he has, but way too predictable going forward. Can't go past from right side or cross the ball with his right foot. For someone so tall he is quite poor in winning defensive or offensive headers. Defensive liability.
TBH always was against buying him, so probably have bias against his peformances as well, there have been some magical moments in past. Nevertheless I can't see anyone paying much more than 5M for his services. And I would be happy to loan him out, and integrate someone like JPB or KHH to the first team (and Bailey might be better on the right side as well).

Nope, I want a selfish striker who will rip the net out. The amount of time Watkins has done exactly the same thing is criminal.
Selfish but not stupid, with simple pass Ollie would have had empty net to place to ball in, instead taking on two defenders himself.

We've gone from winning the Peace Cup, to failing to break down Brisbane Roar...my how the mighty have fallen!
I think we are winning the Queensland's Champions Cup with draw as well

Looking forward to seeing something like this on next half
Martinez
Kessler Konsa Mings Ludwig
Luiz Tim Jacob
Buendia
Archer Watkins
then getting some minutes for Aaron, Feeney and Chrisene
-
Traore looks off pace, Ings not strong or fast enough to lead the line alone, Bailey industrious but lacking the end product, Chambers and Carlos look solid. Lack of movement in the final third major problem.

I love small, diminutive, skilful players but it goes back to balance yet again. The only physically imposing player/starter we have is Mings… we’re often outmuscled or overpowered (particularly in midfield) against many teams. We could do with a bit more help.
John McGinn says hello!

In addition to that he is not better than Watkins anymore, he will go in 12-18 months and we would need to buy and integrate again new player in the team. We need to have longer term strategy of building the team, buy the best upcoming players that fit our system rather than 30+ aged players with different views on how the game should be played and massive egos.
It it is just to build avfc brand, and he plays 15 minutes here and there, then ok.

He is there just between Haaland and Darwin.
