Just as a question lets say the improbable happened and for some reason mcleish to villa falls apart. Realistically who do you think you would get? Hughes is the best out there but i cant see him being happy as 3rd choice. What do you think the options would be for you if not mcleish?

The only thing scuppering moyes to villa is moyes not being interested. If managers want to go they resign. Mcleish proves it. He hasnt because he is happy where he is. Twice in a year you have had a vacancy. Twice he hasnt gone. Hopefully mcleish stays at villa for a while so that next summer were not doing moyes to villa part 3.

The Everton ITK's are saying that you never even approached Everton for Moyes as it was such a flat rejection last season. FWIW i think AM will do ok. Decent with Hibs, Rangers, Scotland and won a trophy with a yoyo club. Yes he took them down but injuries had a lot to do with that. Its pretty much an open secret Hiddink is going to Chelsea its just a matter of sorting out his current job first. As far as the media is concerned the chelsea job is done and dusted whereas villa is a free for all right now with nobody knowing what direction there going in.

Have you ever thought he has respect for Villa and by announcing once again he is not interested he would make a chernobyl style disaster even worse. There was criticism on here for whelan and martinez announcing not interested yet now you want moyes to do the same. Maybe he is content to allow you to get on with finding a new manager without feeling the need to put the boot in. He denied it once a few weeks back and that is more than enough for me.

Where to start. Firstly Everton dont win, they lose a very good manager who has built a squad. Second we dont need the cash as you put it. There is a manageable debt like all clubs have (villas is bigger than ours). Moyes new challenge would be the same as the last one, get a team into champs league from 7-10 spot. 3rd Villa dont do business in public but everton should? They havent denied because there is nothing to deny. All rumours are message board and twitter based. Again. Moyes said not interested, Club insiders have said no chance, Moyes brother has said no chance. All this against two people whose identity we dont know, a few people on forums saying it and a load of people putting money on based on what they have read on said forums.

i'm not for one second say he'll come but i'd say it speaks volumes that No-one at Everton FC has come out to deny all these rumours, As i said before the rumours are twitter and forum based. If it made mainstream media they would deny but not message board tittle tattle. Likewise though there is no denial from Villa about an interest in mcleish and that is being reported all over the mainstream media. Id say that clubs dont bother with constant denials because once you start you will never stop. Well they denied the last one but not this one so it must be true. Guys if there was a press conference at Everton at 2pm then im pretty certain that the press would a) know about it and be reporting it. The reason they are not is because there isnt one. Also if moyes had resigned they wouldnt call a press conference they would issue a statement to the media and put it on the website. Moyes leaving would be a negative story and there is no way any board member would willingly sit there answering questions over a negative story. As for the comments about he hasnt denied it well he did a few weeks back when he said he wasnt interested. Why would he do it again? Do you seriously expect either Moyes or Kenwright to come out and say we have read the forums and people getting themselves in a frenzy over two anonymous twitter accounts so feel we must comment. If it was all over the mainstream media that he was resigning then they would but not for forums and twitter.

Phil Mcnulty used to work for the liverpool echo so has loads of contacts at everton. Id be surprised if the someone wasnt moyes himself.

Thats entirely it, they wouldnt. Lets say the compo was 7-10 million why would you pay this and then arguably miss a very important month where the manager can change things because another team has no manager? What if we didnt get a manager till October? Would Villa stay without one till then as well? Unfortunately the need to know culture that exists in this era of 24 hour news coverage generates WUM's who love nothing more than people hanging off their every word to make them feel important. FWIW i frequent a fair few Everton boards and we have countless posters like this as well. Every club does. We do have two posters though who are bang on every time. One posts the team every friday and is never wrong, good for injuries etc as well. He has contacts in the backroom staff at the club. Another has contacts within the board and is good on the financials. Both are saying currently moyes is heavily involved in negotiations with fenerbace over yobo. Not the actions of a man on gardening leave with a contract at a club he cant start with until his replacement is found. Oh and another reason its false is that Hughes would never come to Everton. So if these rumours are true (there not but lets say they are) A multi million pound company (villa) has sorted out compensation, agreed terms but nothing will happen till the other multi million pound company has found a replacement? Really?? Thats not business folks. You get a guy and he starts work straight away. He would be involved with transfers, training schedules, backroom staff would need to be sorted. Needless to say if there was a deal in place it would be announced. To top all this these negotiations are so secret that only some anonymous person on twitter has heard. Local journos in brum, liverpool and national journos with loads of contacts have not had even the slightest indication a deal is in place. So a top secret deal but not that top secret that someone was told but that person posts anonymously on twitter. I have been watching this thread for a while with more than a passing interest for obvious reasons. One thing id say is that Lerner is doing well to keep things quiet. Speak only when you have something to say is an approach i wish more clubs would follow. Now onto the speculation from that reliable bastion called the internet. Do i think you will get Moyes? No. If you do then id say good luck to him and thanks for the 9 years you gave us. He turned us into a top 6 club from relegation candidates every season. You see whilst Lerner is keeping things quiet our loveable chairman can do no such thing. If something was happening at Everton then it gets out pretty damn quick. The goodison spin control would be in full effect now if Moyes was a viable option for Villa. If anything the stories out of goodison currently is were potentially close to a couple of signings. What i think Villa needs is the next David Moyes, not Moyes himself. A manager that can come in without sky high expectations on his shoulders. Grayson is a young manager who has done well at Leeds so wouldnt be a bad shout. Ancellotti would be a disaster IMO. Big name yes but really short term view and would undoubtedly use you as a holding point for bigger jobs.
