This is an embarrassment thus far, are the players trying to get him sacked or are Southampton really good?
-
I’m getting a feeling that all is not well behind the scenes.
and one more thing, can we mix up these throwins a bit they are killing momentum at times I think. we are looking like a team that is very reliant, almost too reliant on set pieces. We can play when we want to and today’s goal was a good example.
a new manager might not be a bad thing I’m sorry to say. -

I wonder if he knows that he is fast becoming a fan favourite? Would be nice if he had a song or some kind if obvious feedback from the fans. He deserves it.

That's a good point though DDID. If we assume for a minute that the old guard genuinely think Pearson is the best English manager available, then why not the clamour for him when 'pool sacked Rodgers? And why no moaning following Klopp's appointment? I heard no comments at all from the old guard at the time pretending to claim Pearson would ever be good enough for them, and I heard no dissenting comments about experience when Klopp was touted or then hired. On the contrary, he was being hailed as a coup for the league. An exciting appointment by Liverpool. Absolute f**king bare-faced hypocrisy.
But as you say, the perception is that while the 'big' clubs above a certain current standard are free from judgement to go shopping across Europe for whatever they feel will improve their prospects, we are supposed to limit our own ambitions to rooting through the bloodied basement floor for the best miscarriage to slide out of the Premier League in the past 12 months? F**k the lot of them.
Nail on the head BOF. I had this conversation with a friend, a man of otherwise well balanced opinion. He said, "well, it's different coming in to a struggling club than it would be a Liverpool or even a West Ham". I tried to push him on why this would make it harder for a foreign manager over a British manager coming in to that situation, he was sketchy like they all are but it almost felt as if he were initially suggesting that "johnny foreigner" doesn't have the stomach for a fight.
I mean total, outdated and arguably racist bollocks of course, but an interesting conversation nonetheless. Eventually he caved and said that it was general experience of adversity that mattered, that where that experience was gained was immaterial and that nationality was indeed irrelevant. The difference between my friend and the majority of the media is that you don't get the opportunity to present a different point of view, unless you are willing to pay £1.99 a minute for the privileged. They are free to spout their brand of bullshit almost uncontested. They live in their own little bubble, never challenged, floating randomly from story to story like a crisp packet in the wind (or Stephen Ireland on a football pitch).
I almost feel sorry for them.

Messi has always come across as a bit of a spoilt brat with his team playing for him, to me. I'd wager he's not the angel he's made out to be.

Usual dross and usual poor standards, gabby has been plying football nearly everyday of his life! There are no excuses for such poor technique. Benteke doesn't try half as much as his first season. Cleverly not so clever, generally we are not very good, see you all at St. Andrews next season if we carry on like this. Hope I'm wrong

Haven't been to villa park for a while out of protest. I'm not giving Lerner my money, in a nutshell! That game was THE worst I have ever seen, utter trash. Such poor quality, at twenty minutes I suggested that we looked like a team that needs a new manager somebody turned around and looked at me with disgust! These are just a couple of reasons why I won't be wasting twenty five quid in a hurry again. Ps a friend took his lad as a birthday present, poor ki, he'll probably turn and support a proper football team in the morning, such a shame

The main difference between good and average players is confidence and tonights performance has proven we have too many average players
-
not in the slightest. those stats reflect the fact that we're inconsistent. we can go on a run of not conceding goals and keeping clean sheets, to conceding a goal a game, to getting hammered. that's par for the course with a young team
Weare definitely inconsistent!!
I am starting to think (I feel I have made my mind up after today's game) we are inconsistent because we are shit and its not good enhough.
-
that despite a couple of shocking results it's far from the end of the world
Then why did yu not just sayythat inthe first place (Rhetoric)?
agreed, I just found your stats a bit of a wind up.
For what it is worth,i think we are shit at the moment, I thought things were loking up (not particularrly the liverpool game, we were a bit lucky) yet we have now gonw backwards so far in such a short amount of time I have come to the conclusion we are just shit.
it kills me to say.
-
who said it makes it acceptable?
what the **** were you tryiing to prove with stats like that?
-
Anyone seen my straw? I've lost a shitload of it.
fine work
Is p3te what is cmmonly known as a troll?
I have just remembered wwhy I haven't been on here for a while, the shit people come off with to defend how shit we are.
-
who said they didn't count? they do, they're just not an accurate reflection given that in those 4 we've conceded 21, and in the other 15 we've conceded 15
That makes it perfectly acceptable. well done
-
But you can't just ignore that many games to make the numbers fit. We are where we are because if results like this. There are 2 many games already this season where we have got a bad beating to call them abnormalities. The defense and midfield have serious problems at the moment. I just hope Lambert can sort it quick.
A fifth manager in five years is not the answer.
The team just does not seem settled. To many players plugging holes they are not suited to.
well said. agreed

very true with the 4 games! However, there are not 4 fixtures coming up where we may recuperate any of that goal difference in my humbleopinion. Yet there are 4 (maybe moore) fixtures we could get hammered in again. Itkillsme it really does.

I like dean smith but the performances are getting worse and maybe a change is needed. It would help if the players had a brain between them, the note being passed around was an embarrassment and fair play to Tyrone mings, hope he gave the athlete (not a striker) a bollocking for the way he tossed it on the ground. I’d never noticed buendia before we signed him and i now know why, 40 mil bloody hell.
