I think people just wanted to like it because it was a different brand and Luke is a Villa fan. In reality it wasn't very nice at all.
That's not true at all. I can only speak for myself and friends / family but we all like it because we think it looks great. Nothing to do with the Luke brand at all. If anything, the Luke logo is the worst part of the kit.
It's my favourite villa kit since the 90s. People just have different tastes, and a big percentage of people genuinely like the shirt. Not sure why some people question this. You don't like it, great.
This season's kit, in my opinion, is one of the worst I've seen since following the Villa (1989/90 season). It's down there with the hummel shirts of the 2000s. Doesn't mean I can't accept that other people may like it.

One thing for sure, I can't believe people sill do mock ups with the lion being claret, the gold is just glorious sublime
Because some people, myself included, feel that a blue background for the crest works best against the claret home shirt to help it stand out. A gold or yellow lion doesn't work against the blue background though so the best option is claret.

How the holy f*** have they managed to not get the text centered?
It is centred though. As you have proven above, Aston is a longer word that Villa so therefore the space that everyone seems to feel should be in the middle, is not.
I hate this Heck badge but the text is, at least, centred. Even with this season's round badge, the space is not in the centre of the circle.

Nonsense. People don't just hate it for the sake of it at all. As has been said a million times, the main issue is the colour scheme and they still haven't fixed that with this new version.
The lion does not stand out at all, a crappy drop-shadow doesn't change that.

Absolutely rubbish that fans who attended the previous conference league games don't get access to buying tickets until such a late stage! Only one ticket left from what I can see, and you can't buy that without also buying a junior ticket too (even though there are no seats left for said junior).

I remember in the new 2001-2002 kit was worn in the last home game of 2000-2001 against Coventry! Was a bit of a surprise but horrific kit, one of our worst
It wasn't a good one that's for sure! And yet, still nicer than the current one!

3.779km as the crow flies, so pretty close! Still takes forever to get home when I make it to a game!

John Squire's lyrics on Just Another Rainbow are a real let down, particularly the bit where Liam is reciting the colours of the rainbow, that is terrible. I can hardly believe John wrote them, I was sure that was going to be Liam's handy work when I first heard them.
The chorus of Mars to Liverpool sounds like it's right at the top of Liam's range so I can't see him pulling that off live unless they change the key.
However, as expected, I'm loving John's guitar work on both songs. Particularly the solo on the first song. I don't care, I love it. I just love the way the man plays the guitar and could listen to it all day.

Didn't Heck say that a further update would be provided in a few weeks? And that was only a month ago. He didn't say that the announcement would be made in 1 week, 2 weeks or after Christmas. So at the moment I don't even know whether it is true that an announcement has been put "on hold". Maybe the club aren't responding to the "hostile reception" because they know that it is based on assumptions that are wide of the mark. After all the club don't feel the need to respond to every transfer rumour that appears in the media / on social media (quite rightly).
It was the minutes from the FAB meeting on the 20th December that said 2 weeks.
"Having now completed the detailed consultation process, the Club will look to announce the new crest in approximately two weeks from the meeting, and the crest will then be rolled out across the summer."

I don’t really get excited anymore, in fact a little bit depressed.
I saw something a couple of weeks ago saying Noel is going back into the studio in January to record a new album and my first thought was for him to give it up now.
The Liam Gallagher / Richard Ashcroft collaboration was crap.
Was that when they re-recorded one of Ashcroft's solo songs? Or did they do something else together?
As for the LG/JS collobaration, it's something I've been hoping for for years. Considering how good he is and how long he's been around, John Squire has not recorded enough music, I get excited about everything he's involved with! Even when the new Stone Roses songs were a let down I still loved his playing on them.
I didn't like the one previous, but I quite liked several songs from Noel's last album. Some of those songs we're calling for Liam's voice though. I find Noel's voice get's boring when he's singing the whole album. Liam's last album wasn't great but I enjoyed the first two for the most part.

Don't know if this is the right topic for this but is anyone else exited by the recently announced Liam Gallagher / John Squire collaboration? I can't wait to hear Squire playing again!!

Picked up standing on the shoulders of giants on vinyl
That albums got an unfair rep, it's an alright 7/10 album
Gas panic is a contender for best song they never released as a single, who feels love is probably their worst single, the side b 3 song run of gas panic, where did it all go wrong, Sunday morning call is great, SMC was one of my favourite oasis tracks growing up but not so much now
I think it's a mixed bag. For me, 'Go Let it Out', 'Gas Panic' and 'Roll It Over' are among some of their best songs, but then 'Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is', 'Little James' & 'I Can See a Liar' are amongst their worst! 'In The Bushes' is decent.
The rest of the songs on that album don't really do much to make me love or hate them, they are pretty bland.
As mentioned by others, the best song of that era though was 'Lets All Make Believe', that's a beautiful song! How it never made the album, I'll never know.

I'd be interested to see how it would look with "football club" curving around the bottom creating a circle effect.
Literally just thought the same thing before reading your comment, would be good for the symmetry.

Please not Under Armour again, I don't think they've ever made a decent football kit. Every single design they made for Spurs was crap and for the two years they made ours they got the colours completely wrong.
Would love to see a Hummel remake of the 1988 kits but I guess that's not going to happen if they can't afford us now.
Knowing Villa, we'll be back with Macron for next year

Haven't they already played some pre season friendlies? I think its a bad look for the club
PR disaster for Castore and a huge blow for us since we are the only team this effects
Pretty sure I saw at least one of the pre-season games they were wearing the pre-match shirt instead of the actual kit.

In the vast majority of cases, the brands are designing, developing and manufacturing kits. That's it.
Where Fanatics built a business model for themselves was picking up some of the work that was a PITA for the brands - licensed team product like caps, tees, accessories, fanwear etc. Across a load of teams that's a load of hassle. Fanatics take all that work and pay a percentage to the brands. The brands will usually have sign-off on those products.
Then Fanatics bought Kitbag, which gave them access to the distribution of both brand-created product and their own.
The Villa deal, as Doctor Tony (I think) said, is/was unique in that Fanatics were taking on the design and manufacturing and then "selling" the logo space to brands who didn't have the logistics to make kits themselves. This is apparently what Napoli have been doing with EA7 too - although here it's the club designing and producing and EA7 having their name dragged through the mud every two weeks when yet another substandard kit is released.
My understanding is that this business model worked ok for 12 months, but after that (and promotion) the sort of brands willing and able to pay the money to Fanatics were also the sort of brands who would want their own product, designed and made to their own spec, showing up in the Premier League.
So season 1 of Kappa, the designs had already been created by Fanatics and approved by the club. Then the Kappa deal came about and they wanted to use their own templates etc, so the eg green design was transposed onto the Kappa uniforms and manufactured (I believe) by Fanatics' suppliers - who are a really good factory, working with brands like Nike and Puma.
From season 2 of Kappa onwards, I believe the brands have taken control of everything with regards design and manufacturing but continue to lean on Fanatics/Kitbag for some distribution support - which is great for a brand like Castore who don't have their own partners and stores all over the world like the bigger brands would.
Once this Fanatics deal expires I would expect we'll be signing directly with brands, with all of the additional distribution and exposure that brings.
I also understand that the Wolves/Castore deal is done through Fanatics too, although this one is different to ours. The gameday and replica shirts are "proper" Castore product, but the sideline product (training and travel) is Fanatics designed and made with a Castore logo. This is why Wolves' sideline product retails cheaper than Villa's - fewer fingers in the pie.
Hope that helps.

Right, so for your tax the emissions are in the 111 to 120g/km range. Birmingham uses the Euro 6 Emission Standard for Diesel Cars and that is significantly lower at 80mg/km. Euro 5 is much higher and you would have been OK with that standard, but Euro 6, not so much.
Thank you! Good to know!
