  1. Best game i've seen from him is in an england shirt, scored a cracking goal from a free kick for U21.

Willing to give him more time personally as i've seen flashes of good play from him.

Best game I saw him play in was against Ajax in the U19 NextGen tournament, scored a hattrick and ran the show against a good Ajax team.

I'm hoping he gets back to full fitness, as I think if he can put his injuries behind him, he can be a first team player for us.

  2. From what I've seen Broner v Malignaggi will be at 147, so I guess Pauli's belt will be on the line for that fight. Disappointing that Broner doesn't fight at 140 first, but alot of the good fighters in that division already have fights lined up/in the pipeline. Plus he can always move back down to 140 after the Pauli fight.

Will be interesting to see if Broner can carry his power up to 147, as for moving up 2 weight divisions, no different to Guerrero who I think did the same.

I need to watch the B Hop fight, a great achievement in any case!

  3. I watched the Broner fight and was impressed, he obviously have a bright future ahead of him, but I did expect him to beat Rees. I think he should have one more fight at 135, against the winner of Burns/Vasquez and then move up to 140 where there are bigger fights (and more money!).

140 is an exciting division, Peterson and Garcia are current champions (does JMM still hold a belt too?), but then you have Khan, Matthysse and Rios.

I can see Khan v Broner being made in future as both sell tickets, if Khan can stay out of range he has a chance, problem is if he starts to trade, Broner has the power to KO him.

As for Frampton, he has talent, but not sure how he goes about winning a world title, as the division he is in is really tough, Donaire, Rigondeaux and Mares!! Looking forward to Donaire v Rigo too, I think Donaire wins but will be a good fight.

  4. He's finished at Villa.

More technique, but not as useful as his brother.

Finished at the age of 20, REALLY!!!??? He is much better than his brother. He was awesome in the U19's last season, did you see any of those games??

But I'm sure you are right and that he is finished just because of an injury. After all 2 broken legs haven't finished Cisse's career yet a knee injury will finish Gary's!! Will come back stronger and will get his chance in the first team again next season.

  5. Complete and utter over reaction if I've ever seen one!!! FFS. Ok then, can someone tell me who has a better academy at the moment or the last 2/3 years than us??

As for never producing a Rooney/Owen etc. How about Cahill? England international CB, who has won the CL with Chelsea, not done to badly has he?? Gary Gardner could be our next big thing, but he is now out for 9 months, so has further knocked back his progress. Grealish and Graham are both talents in our academy at the moment, with the right coaching and attitude, they will be first team players.

  6. I'm guessing some of you haven't watched the academy play then? Definately not hoofball. I'd definately reccommend you watching some of the NextGen games next season.

Getting rid of KMac is mental, our reserves have been very successful over the last 5 years or so, and he is the reason.

  7. When you see that we are only worse off than the previous results because of compensation and basically one players wages, it really isnt half as bad as the reaction it has got. Furthermore some fees arent even included, added to that the money Lerner has just put in I'd wager we arent far off from breaking even.

With revenue of £92m and operating expenses of £158m, we are a long way from breaking even. Our staff costs alone were £83m (90% of revenue!!), which while it will reduce over the coming 12 months will still mean we post an operating loss in the next financial period.

  8. he definately has the talent to be a first team regular at Villa.

    Under McLeish??

    Doubt it

Yes under McLeish, Gary has too much talent to be ignored. If he doesn't get a game for our first team, another Prem team will sign him up.

Also don't forget Petrov is getting older, I think Gardner will be our future captain.

Wasn't his getting the job on the understanding that he used the youth? I'm sure the Randy interview mentioned that.

McLeish's record with youth is utterly terrible hence my doubtfulness.

He has played Bannan, Delph and Herd a few times this season, so I don't see any reason why Gardner will not get his chance.

  9. The quarter finals are only one leg, if we are runners in our group we will be away to the winner of group A, probably Barcelona. We need Rosenburg to do us a favour and get a win or draw against Ajax so we win the group, then we will be at home, against Marseille.

Edit - won't be Celtic so changed to Marseille!!

  10. he definately has the talent to be a first team regular at Villa.

  11. Went to the Rosenburg and Ajax games down at VP, was impressed with Gary Gardner, Courtney Cameron, Graham Burke, Jack Grealish, Jordan Graham and Daniel Johnson.

Grealish impressed against Rosenburg and Graham's run against Ajax made everyone sit up and take notice, superb bit of skill, shame the ref pulled play back!! Two very promising wingers, although I haven't seen enough of them to judge if they will be world beaters yet!!

  12. Maybe I wasat a different game to SGC, but I thought Gary was superb against Ajax (likewise against Rosenburg). He has a bit of everything, he tracked back when he needed to, scored the goals, he was demanding the ball rather than waiting for it to be passed to him.

As for his passing, there was one bit towards the end, probably last 10/15 mins when he and Johnson had a one two on the wing, I said to my dad, looks like we are happy to keep the ball now, next thing Gary pings a pass to the other wing straight to Grealish, great passer of the ball.

He is also very calm in front of goal, places the ball on occasions when others would put there laces through it.

Reckon we will see him back at Villa in January, he definately has the talent to be a first team regular at Villa.

  13. I thought Downing wanted to play in the Champions League?

So why is he going to a club that aren't even in the Europa League yet alone the Champions League?

Cos maybe...just maybe they have a better chance of getting into CL than us?

They do have a better chance, but that chance still remains at somewhere between slim and rofl judging by the calibre of players that they're signing.

    Youre being at best naive.

Yes Liverpool might not get champs league but they still have infinite more times chance than we do.

The chasm between us , Liverpool and Spurs is massive.

We are now competing with the likes of Sunderland , Fulham and Stoke . Europa league is well beyond us at moment and with the terrible appointment we'vce made we will do well to consolidate 10th-12th every season.

10th-12th every season, even though we finished 9th last year after having a really bad season. I think we will be challenging somewhere between 6th and 9th maybe 10th, but definately not down to 12th. If we can get a settled squad with a few new recruits and sort the defense, definately top 8 team, with hopefully a push towards the top 6.

  14. Would be great if we could replace Ash and Downing with 2 from Kranjcar, N'Zogbia and Adam Johnson.

Personally would prefer Kranjcar and Johnson, but if Man City won't sell AJ, then N'Zogbia will be fine. Will then use those 2 with Marc and we will be fine.

Needs to be at LEAST £20M for Downing, if Liverpool won't pay, we should pi55 them off by offering £10M for Suarez

Just a random thought, could Delph or Bannan play left wing? Think Delph has played there for Leeds??
