Sounding like #SAFC are going to play hard ball with Bent & Villa - and so they should. But transfers rarely get to this stage and collapse.

A lot of money.
Journos on twitter think its a waste.
Do they not release we haven't had a proven goal scorer since Yorke?
-
Bents Twitter.
Was old post from few weeks ago...
-
Cracking news if true, also a little odd.
We needed a goal scorer that is proven in the premier league, Bent is that man.
Fingers crossed it doesn't fook up.

the social network did the buisness at the globes. best film (drama) , best director, best screenplay and best original score.
firth/portman as expected.
Crazy if you ask me, when it comes to Social Network. I thought it was a good film, yet no way near as good as some people seem to think it is. Best director is truly shocking in my opinion. No way near the best directed film of the year...
Why because nothing fancy is going on?
Fincher directed cracking performance's out almost everyone in it, controlled a great script well and produced a fine film.

Is it me or did we actually defend quite well?
Their goal was more than lucky if you ask me, a shit free kick double deflation goal.
We hit the woodwork a few times too which was unlucky.
-
Positive we've been 'ok' defensively.
Still feel sick though.

Its never particularly enjoyable watchin these is it?

Come on Villa do something decent for once this season! Please.

Law Abiding Citizen.
Awesome movie, what a performance from Gerard Butler he certainly has come along as an actor from his days acting in movies such as "Reign of Fire" playing 2nd fiddle to Christian Bale.
Cant say im a big fan of Jamie Foxx but he plays the cocky cool role so well in this movie
Are you saying that Gerard Butler is a better actor than Christian Bale?

Thought the Kings Speech was excellent really enjoyed it.
Some great films so far this year, late last...

I still fear if he is here till the end of the season he will take us down. It really is time for him to shit or get off the pot. He as so far shown himself to be **** clueless and has us in a disgraceful position. Sunday is massive. Lose that with Man City to follow, he is finished.
He should have been **** off a few weeks ago for me but having been given more time its now down to him to get some results or **** off.
As soon as they let him spend a significant amount say, 6mill he is staying for the season Mark, imo.

I'd go for an 8 out of 10, i'm biased though so daft to listen to me
Oh if nobody has seen this get it seen..

True Grit is stunning.

What order of quality do the seasons of Six Feet Under go in.
Just finished season 1 and thought it was very good.

I was thrilled at the weekend that we showed we are capable of beating the level of opposition we are likely to be facing next season, augurs well for our promotion campaign
Are we relegated?

Playing Pires from the start, whilst Ireland is not even on the bench says to me that his ego is starting to take over his tactical decisions. Pires was meant to be for helping with training and for backup when we needed someone experienced to calm things down.. To start him is a terrible decision, and when you consider than Ireland (who is apparently to be given more of a chance now) is not even in the squad... well, that's just ludicrous.
Perhaps Pires trained like a demon this week, whilst Ireland stood around admiring his car?

Well go on Jez please explain how a win against an average championship side has any relevance on our fight for survival.
So if we had lost today you would have just said, 'oh well just against a poor championship side'? Come off it, you would have been straight on his back again sticking the knife in!

I know we're shit but The Telegraph are taking the piss putting the wrong score down on their report...
Sheffield United 1 Aston Villa 2: match report
Read a full match report of the FA Cup third round tie between Sunderland and Notts County at the Stadium of Light on Saturday Jan 8, 2011.

This was not a demonstration from Aston Villa that a corner has been turned on their dismal season – in fact because of the lack of quality from their opponents it does not even suggest they are at the apex of the bend – but this victory over Sheffield United, which sent Gerard Houllier’s side through to the fourth round of the FA Cup, should not be sniffed at.
For starters, it was their first win on the road since September, and there were also signs that Kyle Walker will be a useful loan addition, the defender marking his debut with his first goal since turning professional in 2008.
There were others for Marc Albrighton and Stiliyan Petrov, but Ashley Young’s dismissal for two bookings was Villa’s second red card in two games.
It is questionable how instructive this result is of Villa’s fortunes, for their opposition were as feeble as you will find. Perhaps it was to be expected bearing in mind United are at the wrong end of the Championship, and in Micky Adams’ defence his team has been depleted by injury.
But while that helps explain the home side’s incoherence, it does not shed light on why they were so lacking in commitment when the men they were supposed to be marking escaped. At times it bordered on disinterest.
In effect it enabled Villa to run the ball at will, as Walker chose to do inside 10 minutes. The right back, making his debut after joining from Tottenham on loan in the week, dribbled his way into the area, and seconds later his shot was bumbling past Steve Simonsen.
Remembering that he had spent six months here on loan last season, and that his mother is a Blades supporter, the 20 year-old kept his celebration to a minimum.
With Robert Pires, Ashley Young, Barry Bannan and Albrighton in the midfield Villa did not want for ideas, but they got carried away with their own creativity and lulled into a false sense of security, and when Richard Dunne’s suicidal header back to Brad Friedel was intercepted by Jamie Ward, their old insecurities came tumbling back, even though Friedel made a vital save.
Anxieties were soothed once again when Albrighton smoked a volley in from six yards shortly after the half hour mark, off a Young cross, but then Carlos Cuéllar tripped Lee Williamson in the area and Michael Jones saw no reason not to award a penalty. Friedel gallantly dived to his right, but it was pointless as Ward planted the ball in the middle of the net.
Suddenly United had perked up, Daniel Bogdanovic forcing Friedel into a full stretch dive. When Young collected a second booking for a rash challenge on Kyle Bartley and was waved down the tunnel by the gleeful home fans, Villa were wobbling.
To their credit they survived, Petrov, on for Bannan, finishing the match off in stoppage time. But you could not help thinking that although United could not take advantage, others will.

I just don't think this win is anything to get excited about, if it was a league game i'd be over the moon but beating a poor championship side doesn't do anything to make me confident we won't go down.
I bet you would have had something to say if we had lost against this poor championship side.
Win, its nothing.
Loose, continuing stick to beat Houllier with.

Proves the point that people actually want things to go wrong to prove their point, totally, totally bonkers.
Yes I pay for my season ticket and spend money travelling to some away games so I can hope we lose.
Maybe I should stay at home and tell everyone on the Internet to be positive.
You truly are a better fan than most then BJ.
We won today how about enjoying that as its been so rare these days.

Pft only against a shit Sheff Utd team
Well done Villa, hopefully a kick on but wont know for sure until after a few more games...
