I think Kev Mac would do well in the Championship with a lot of the youth team and it'd possibly prepare him for the Premiership.

What's the chances we could replace him with Lee Clark? A young manager who done a great job in League One. I'd much rather try a young up and coming manager from the lower leagues than some Premiership has been that has failed on more than one occasion.

Bagging Houghton from Birmingham would be a much, much better deal than McLeish.

Fair play to him, he came to Villa and gave it a shot. It just wasn't good enough.

Having watched McClean at the Brandywell on a regular basis, I felt that he was a gifted player with strength and speed. On more occasions than not he looked a level above a lot of players in the LoI. However, his move to the Premiership had me wondering if it would be too big a jump too soon for him. I thought that he would be more than capable of succeeding at the highest level, but was this move too soon?

Evidently not. There is no 'hype' about McClean. It's fact, just like someone else pointed out. Yes it's his first 8 games, but look at those stats. It's hardly just a typical good start. He has been the pivot point of Sunderland's turn in fortunes.

I believe Trap got it right, it may still be a little too soon for James at International level, but I'd love to see him travelling with the team to Poland (not to mention that he has already proven me wrong).

Just quoting the first line of my post takes it a bit out of context. I was not saying that he won't be a good player but that we shouldn't expect him to be fully functional on the day he arrives and that it will take him a while to get up to speed with the Premier League.

I was impressed with his performance yesterday. Yes, he made a few rookie mistakes and I hope he learns from that. He showed desire to play yesterday, committed himself to tackles and got it right almost every time. He showed great strength at times. I think if he continues to grow he'll become a solid, reliable first team player. He may not set the world alight but he'll still be an important player for Villa.

I don't see many Conference teams making it to European group stages or at least making a good run at it like Derry and St Pats did a few seasons ago.

I don't really see what's funny, he's got a pretty solid record, especially when compared to McLeish or even O'Neill for that matter. I know he stated that he has no interest in management, but that was in 2009. It's always worth trying.

It's a summer league, ending 28th October with a few Europa games before Christmas.

Some rest after his season, and some practice along with it.

16 games for Villa and 10 goals last season. He's a class act, I reckon he'll have a good record this season, possibly a personal record might be broken too. If N'Zogbia settles in and starts showing his ability and Albrighton picks up his form then he could be banging them in. We're in a much better position this season compared to last.
