  1. BOURNEMOUTH want 25m for Tyrone Mings. VILLA won't be paying that in a hurry. Makes likes of Gary Cahill on a free more attractive by the day

  2. Was it Jannsen that tried to tackle after Bielsa had ordered them to let us score?

I get a defender not wanted to concede a goal under any circumstances, but he even had a little petulent kick out in it. Bielsa has claimed 'bad attitude' but hes said that in the past about anyone whose disagreed with him.

Dele Ali, Harry Maguire, Joe Gomez, Snake, Callum Wilson, John Stones, jack Buckland, James Tarkowski, Nathan Redmond .... We’re all signed from clubs not in the Premier League and have developed into full internationals. Not sure what my point is just pointing that out when people dismiss buying the championships better players. Some moaned when we brought overpriced prem players...

Ps: posted in error in wrong thread !

Questions were raised on Liverpool signing Andy Robertson from relegated Hull. Now international captain and mentioned by many as potentially the best left back in the world.

  4. Stoke are signing a keeper on a free who's contract is up at the end of the month. I would imagine they will wait until that is 100% finalised before letting Butland leave. If Bardell etc think it's all sorted then great, barring any hiccups with Stoke's replacement then we should hear shortly into July.

  5. Wouldn't take Heaton at 33, and as Burnley captain they'd not want to let him go. No doubt they see Nick Pope as Heaton's natural replacement but Heaton still has 2-3 years in him you'd think, which would put Pope at 30 or so.. surely he'd want first team football before then..

Heaton is a pretty solid PL keeper. Given the choice, I would probably choose Butland as he is younger and higher up the England setup. Not a massive amount in it though.

I'd have Nick Pope over Heaton. The season Heaton was out and Pope took his place, he was the best keeper in the league and I thought it was harsh to lose his place, but Heaton is captain. Amazed he hasn't looked for a move, he could get first team at a decent Premier League team.

  7. Being linked with Kongolo from Huddersfiekd now. Plays same side of defence as Mings. Whilst squad depth is important, I get the feeling this is Plan B if we cant reach an agreement for Mings. Or a sign to Bournemouth we do have options and they cant just dictate it and bugger us around.

£12m plus Hourihane for Phillips. I'd be surprised if that happens, we're short in midfield as it is, without losing Hourihane.

No way we are trading Hourihane. I wouldnt do a straight swap for those players never mind 12m as well!  Hourihane will be a key player for us this year, he just needs a bit of steel along side him, someone wholl get stuck in with tough tackles and has plenty of energy.

  9. Hes Leeds from boyhood right? If he has decided to stay then we should show the utmost respect for that, as its exactly the situation we were in 12 months ago with Jack. If Leeds can keep their players and get a couple more decent loans in then no reason they shouldn't be aiming to win that league next year. But then most people had them as certain to go up last Christmas and they Leeds'd it.

  10. I assume he means their large Portugal contingent who won the European Championship in 2016. And the Nations League win last weekend.

In his defence they would be major international honours..

If we had just gone in and asked to buy him for £8m in January, then I agree, we'd have saved a lot of money. But then if he was just as injury prone as billed we'd have been mugged.

We don't have to take up the deal. However I imagine Brommy is almost certainly correct that we asked but Bournemouth declined. I can't see Mings staying at Bournemouth, but it will end up being highest bidder which is annoying because he clearly wants to come back here.

  12. He has to be playing in the Premier League with the Euros coming up. If he stays at Stoke then he's waving goodbye to 2 more years of International football potential. If Southgate won't consider Grealish because he's not playing at the top level then the same has to apply to Butland.

He's still here.  Why is he still here?  Do the mods know something.

Please, if he's gone move the thread to put me out of my misery.

    WHY...IS...HE...STILL...HERE?

I feel it can still count as speculation. If Man Utd go and spunk 150m on three new centre backs, as they may well do, I can see us snapping him up. I don't think Axel is in Man Utd's first team plans next season but whilst they are not guaranteed to get the signings they want, they don't want to confirm any permanent deal and leave themselves with Smalling, Jones and Bailley again. Axel > those 3, but I think Man Utd fans are expecting better.

I did a green shirt earlier in the thread, got mixed reviews, here's an updated version though...

I can't wait to see what they come up with!

I think if you add a little bit of subtle red between the green and black stripes, bring it a tad more with the 1994 away kit, I might just fall in love with that. Not too much red, just a faint darker red line.

I still really like that though and would be delighted if our away kit next season is anything similar to that.

either way he will almost certainly get more than Hogan!

I reckon I'll score as many Premier League goals as Hogan will next season.

I haven't seen much mention of Kodjia in any threads.. do people think he's not good enough to lead our line next season? It doesn't sound like Wesley is a like-for-like for Tammy so that suggests a change of formation, another striker coming in, or Hogan/Kodjia being given a chance to show they can lead the line. I think Smith will give Hogan and Kodjia a big opportunity to show their worth in pre-season.

  16. This is a lesson in loans - always have an agreement for a fee at the end, if both parties are mutually agreeing that a deal is possible. Look at the steal we got for El Ghazi, because the fee had already been agreed when his stock wasn't that high. Had that gone to a bidding war with the way his stock increased we'd have had to pay 10-12m more than we did I am sure.

If we had said to Bournemouth at the start of the loan, that at the end we could sign him for £8m I think they'd have snapped it up, as I don't think they had long term plans for him.  They now value him at 20m+, because they know how badly we want him and how much our fans want the deal to happen. It's now a Mexican stand off on cost IMO, I think if we left it late we could get him for less, but how much value do you put on a full pre-season given he's going to have a lot of new team mates to get used to playing with.
