  1. Wesley's announcement was 3 weeks after talk the deal was fully done. Work permits take time.

I think Douglas's will take just as long, if not longer.. if people are expecting an announcement today, or any point this week, I think they may be disappointed. Happy to be proved wrong though.

We haven’t had one single signing on a Wednesday.  I also heard in a study of transfer days, Wednesday is the least likely to have a transfe occur.

So laws of averages, one has to happen some time? Good enough for me. Its happening on Wednesday!

  3. I doubt the work permit will be a quick one. How long was it we were waiting for Wesley to be confirmed? A week? Luiz has already had several work permit applications rejected so I doubt it will be a quick process.

  4. Purely based on the last few comments in this thread. I've not heard of a new contract or anything either but he was pushing for one and if hes staying he should be rewarded for one, even if it means he'll still leave next year he at least keeps his value high for Leeds.

  5. Real parodies with us and Jack last summer, so I'm happy he stayed as I know how much it meant to us. I imagine his nee deal is just like Jack's..  a pay rise and a release clause if they dont get promoted.

  6. I cant see us signing him if Luiz work permit goes through. I can see however us keeping tabs on him with a view to signing him next season if we stay up, Leeds dont come up, and City buy back Luiz. He said he wanted to give Leeds another season to try get promoted. I don't know if we can pre agree anything with so many variants but I think we'll certainly be keeping an eye to maybe make a move in January depending how things are looking

  7. I really want this one to be true. Long time fan of Heaton. I know Pope has taken his place at number 1 but still cant see why he'd leave, and why Burnley would let him go for only 7m. Youd think they'd be selling Hart before Heaton.

Someone on Heroes and Villains claims to have been in the same bar as the Burnley squad last night, and apparently Joe Hart told him that Heaton to Villa is a done deal. Someone else, or perhaps the same person, is claiming the same on facebook, (screenshot going around twitter), and provided a photo of themselves with Hart.

Sooo.. 'a bloke in the pub said so'

  9. It's a position we need. If its  glorified loan at least we are getting paid for it this time. Seems a win-win all around cause from what Pep has said about him and Sky Sports analysis of him, theres no way hes a 15m player.

  10. I think this is a clever agreement between the clubs for a work permit. City haven't been able to get a work permit for him, and have had to loan him abroad. If they sell him to us, we apply for a work permit with more guaranteed starts. Then they buy back for say 10m more, complete with work permit. We essentially get paid to have a loan for a year on a player we want, and they get their work permit.

Haha why would he pack his bags before a move has been finalised?

I think the phrase 'packed his bags' refers to his locker at Leeds rather than his personal belongings.  Ie. He has no intention of returning there.

However, from everything we've read on this that'd be utter bullshit. If he does leave Leeds it will be because Leeds have decided they want to move him on. He may be using this as a bargaining chip for a better deal, he may have had his head turned by the prospect of Premier League football, but the one thing he is not doing it storming out and demanding a transfer.

  12. Burnley see Pope as the long term Heaton replacement. Will probably be their number 1 this season. In my opinion he shouldn't have lost his place last season, but Heaton is captain so hard to argue him when fit.

Leeds fans think this is pure gamesmanship from the leeds board in preparation for a sale.

Offer shite terms then claim they tried to keep him!

I said from the beginning Leeds would do this. I think they need to. Fans are already pissed at the way they finished the season, selling their prize asset to the team who pipped them to the promotion spot they had nailed on at Christmas is going to hurt.

Leeds board need to save face and the only way of really doing that, without going all out to try to keep him, is to pretend you went all out to try to keep him.  That being said, preseason training has started so I wish teams would stop buggering around because that's a position we need to fill quite badly, and we don't want someone coming in at the start of the actual season and needing time to get used to the team and system.

  14. As excited as I am by any new signing - I can't help but feel this guy wasn't signed with 'Premier League quality' in mind.  We did the deal for him in Jan, at which point we were around 10th (?) in the Championship.. highly doubtful we were even contemplating being a Premier League team at this point back then.

Whilst I'm sure they're not going to sign players they didn't think could be good enough, I have my reservations about him being thrown in the deep end.  Hopefully he surprises me and is more than ready though.

  15. Cant hurt to look at him in preseason, Dean wouldnt have seen much of him and he plays a position we currently hugely lack. He may just suit the style we are looking to play perfectly but I'd be surprised if, after looking at him, Dean thinks anything other than seeking another loan though. He doesnt seem to be the quality we'd require, but I fully trust our coaching team to be the judge of that.
