  1. We signed him for comparative peanuts and hes improved every season hes been with us.  I cant really criticise that.  Dont think he should be starting, but dont think he will when all are fit.

If he never scored another goal at Villa Park he could dine out on the banger he scored yesterday for several lifetimes.

Funny enough I was thinking yesterday how many overhead bicycle kicks have been scored towards the North Stand??? I could only think of 3 off the top of my head. The first one I remember was Paul Davis(Arsenal) v Villa in 82/83 if I'm not mistaken. Think it was last home game of the season and we won 2-1 with Davis scoring a consolation overhead kick that the whole ground applauded. Then there was Benteke v Norwich and now Ing's. I can't remember any others but I'm sure there have been more??

Think i remember benito carbone getting one for wednesday

I remember going to Goodson in the 90s. Midweek evening game, that deckchair green away strip, Neville Southall applauding us away fans at the end of the game for making a racket non-stop, and I mean, genuinely did not stop for a moment throughout the game. Anyway, we had a team that was mostly black players. I’m not sure it was 9, but maybe 7 started. I think we won 2-0, but it might have been a draw. I’m trying to recollect the the team in my memory. Brian Small, Earle Barrett, God, Yorkie, Dalian, Bozzie, Deano...anyone else remember that game?

Yes. Didnt we have midfielder called mark blake play that game too?

I think we dodged a bullet with this. Know a few baggies and they think he is crap

All my baggies supporting mates think hes crap. I told them he was great for us. One of my mates said "yeah, but he was behind John Terry then"

What other examples are there of keepers that have spent ages on the bench then transition back into a Number 1?

    There must be some.

    Hart - Not Really
Heaton - Was he #1 at Burnley before he signed? If not it wasnt for long I guess
Begovic - That worked out badly for Bournemouth I think
Foster - How long was he a #2 for?

  8. I remember having a corporate in the north stand against sheffield wednesday. He scored an overhead kick for them, and there was a sheffield fan and his little lad with us. Kids about 10 and gets proper mouthy.  Anyway, we won 2-1 me and the lad i was with (a west brom fan) were winding his dad up. The kid ended up crying.  Not sorry.
