No matter what happens I hope we play Guidetti or loan him to you next season if/when you sell Bent. The way he was treated by Mancini was shambolic.

But after having to nervously look over our shoulder well into April last season, it looks like he wanted to go one better!

How else to you explain selling our player of the year last season (Downing) and then appointing a relegation specialist like McPish. A truly woeful decision - and one we might feel the consequences of for years to come.

At some point even a man of Lerner's limited ability must realise he should delegate responsibility to someone who knows something about football.

Let's face it, he relegated one club and he's trying his hardest to do the double.

Hiring him was diabolical.

It's probably the most consistently successful strategy against us from clubs outside the top 4.

You're still getting 'defend deep and attack on the break' mixed up with 'defend deep and wait for the final whistle'.

NFL watcher for almost 20 years, watched the Browns since they've been owned by Lerner. Where were they 10 years ago when Lerner took over? Bottom. Last season? Bottom. This year? Bottom. They're one of the few teams to achieve almost nothing over an entire decade.

Lerner is a nice bloke but doesn't have a clue about running a sports franchise.

There was a Villa fan on this forum who told me last season that Milner is crap for his first season but then becomes quality, I said I didn't believe it. But he was right. Whoever you are, fair play.

Watched this game. I think you could have bossed them if you'd had a real go. They couldn't trouble your goal because they don't have the quality, Bothroyd isn't even a PL footballer. But you sat back too often, giving waaaay too much respect to their players- they are after all mostly Championship players.

Just had a look at a Man City forum, out of interest, and could not believe the abuse we were getting from some of them. Slating our attendance v Wolves (which was shit, I know, but there were many factors for it).

Bunch of arseholes they are. Used to be a decent set of fans but now the success is going to their heads. Having said that, there were some decent posters on there who spoke sense.

I'm sure if we were spending hundreds of millions year on year and keeping our best players we would be selling out too.

It's the same 3-4 who continually enjoy taking the piss out of AVFC, probably folks who have dreamed up some reason to hate Villa. They were challenged by other City fans.

Any football fan who isn't taking the piss knows the factors that played into that attendance, and they have nothing to do with poor support. Outside of the promoted clubs Villa easily has the most support in our weekly PL football threads. 8)

Regarding Shay, he is a top class keeper. I personally think it will be the best bit of business available. Arsenal fans were getting angry that you were pursuing him and Wenger wasn't. He's top 4 caliber.

I think it's all looking good for Villa. He wants to come, meaning he may reduce his wage demands.

He is the type of keeper who will save you 7 or more points. Most City fans considered him better than Hart but the age difference (and dare I say nationality) settled the issue. Really would prefer him going to a class club like Villa.
