  1. Really don't understand the problem people have with Sven..... why is he such a pariah?

He's an excellent coach, has a great record, has Premier League experience, speaks English well, is well respected in the game.......

If the doubts about him are based on red top tittle tattle then people need to grow up.

I think its the thought of him making deals for himself behind our backs. Great coach, brill manager, but could you trust him?

  2. Koeman nearly relegated a Valencia team with players such as Villa, Silva, Vicente, Joaquin, Mata, Banega and Marchena. He was sacked to save his blushes and the new manager kept them up.

He also took AZ one of Hollands top clubs and only won half of his games, a season after they won the title. This put them in mid-table. New manager come in and took them back up to 5th.

If that's what people want it is worrying. This guy can relegate us, if he nearly did with Valencia, he can send us down.

If you think Martin had an ego, wait until this guy strolls into town, as the above clearly shows.

People like Ashley will definately be off :winkold:

  3. Hi General,

Whopping night again and another hundred quid down the tube.

    Two questions.

    1. Could you tell us how much has been spent on the Browns draft this summer, compared to Villas?

    2. You made the point of bums on seats. Could i ask how many games you and Randy actually attend?

  4. Bruce can **** the fuckity **** off. He's really struggling at Sunderland. Lower to mid prem at best is his level and he really hasn't shown anything to deserve better than that.

I think that there are only 2 real options here:

    a) Get in an experienced manager (Age: 50+ who knows either the prem or European competition well and has achieved something either here or abroad) E.g. Sven-Goran Eriksson or Martin Jol.

    B) Get in a younger dynamic manager with a lot of drive and ambition who has proven themselves in the lower leagues. E.g. Paul Lambert.

I think option a) would be preferable from a point of stability.

If you go for B, then we might aswell stick with KM, and see whom is available at the turn of Xmas.

    1. ChrisNicholsToe. "Fans that I castigate"??????? I haven't castigated ANY fans. I have no idea of what you are talking about. September 1 is going to somehow "answer all our questions"...or who we pick as Manager is somehow going to say everything? That just doesn't make sense either. If we sign no one...if there is no one out there to sign that 1) will make a difference or 2) is available...then we should sign someone anyhow just to "answer the question" that we are willing to spend??? Are you serious?? Is that how you will measure the intent of the Club? I wish to goodness that things were as simple as you seem to think they are. Hey, just go out and sign someone...quality players are all over the place in the 2nd week of the season. Hey, there are great managers just waiting for us to call....if we pick the "right one", then we will have shown people that we are really serious. Forget the fact that the owner has already spent millions of pounds above the purchase price on the Club...that he has put money against players, the facitlites, etc. The only question that seems to matter is what have you done for me tomorrow??? Pretty shortsighted. Most fans understand the difference between a sprint and a marathon. Many a great business has failed...many a great team has failed...trying to make one "statement" that falls short in the end.

Perhaps castigate is the wrong word General, its been a long weekend, and i lost a lot of money watching that shower Sunday. I apologise for that, so please accept it.

All im trying to ask for is some clarity on what our ambitions are now. Its been a pretty dismal summer, Milner gone, Martin resigning, quotes about sell to buy, ect...ect...ect.

You go on about how much Randy as put in, and yes im grateful and still do back him. But remember that i, and many have spent a small fortune on this club we love, and in my case for over thirty years. Im there thick and thin, and will continue to be. But dont think that we have to sit and not ask questions.

This summer has brought all the HDE memories flooding back. They eat away at me, and then i see what we told when Randy and your good self rolled in. I guess its reassurance that im after, and hope those goals remain the same.

If that makes me fickle or less a fan than anyone else in your eyes, then so be it. We used to have an old saying General, which is you dont become Villa, your born it. Older heads and some of the younger guys will know what i mean.

But thanks for your reply, it is appreciated and i will leave things at that. 8)

  6. If we read between the lines of the Generals latest post I think we can fairly take it as evidence that we will not be getting a big name, rather we will be getting someone in desperate enough for the job, but us fans aren't desperate for him to take it ie a Bob Bradley or someone along those lines.

Last week General stated we would get the best man in for the job. Now all the talented managers are at clubs, or doing something else....yeh..

So are we meant to force these managers to join us our, by kidnaping them?

We cannot force people to come!

Hes right all the current decent managers are employed, otherwise they wouldn't be employed would they?

You need to get real its not football manager.

Thats what ambitious clubs do Jez. They poach the best person they feel can take them further.

So much hinges on getting the right person in, otherwise we may see a lot more jumping from HMS Aston Villa.

I find it hard, knocking the board. But something has fundimentally changed, and it aint Man City.

  7. Well General, i thankyou for your robust responce. But i guess September the 1st will answer our questions, and whom you appoint as manager.

May i also point out that those fans you castigate follow the club everywhere, and have done so for years. Some struggle to do so, but still do it out of love. That does give them right to question the clubs ambition and its goals.

Also, you say that Randy has always supported Martin. So are you saying that Martin Quit for other reasons than transfer funds?

  8. I dont know if this question as already been asked, and if so then i apologise for my laziness in not checking back through all the posts.

Could i ask who is making the Football decisions?

Is it KM or the Board.

Steven Ireland, whose decision was it to go ahead with, since it seems strange that we are bringing players to the club, when we dont have a manager.

Licaj signing a three year deal, again without a manager.

And i would like to echo some of the posts above. Is the decision not play Davies football or finance based?

Will any of the money recieved for Milner be redirected into the playing side of things?

    And.....

How will any new manager be able to strengthen the team in so little time, when it seems, that you have only just drawn up a shortlist?

Its ok harking on about not rushing things, but i think thats exactly what we should be doing based on yesterdays humiliation. Besides, i think fans have a right to be impatiant, especially since we bought into the clubs grand "5-year plan".

Time is running out General, and the team needs strengthening.

Finally General, i hope my post does not come across to negative. Ive supported this club now on thirty years and have been proud to do so.

  9. Been back from Newcastle for about an hour and I'm still pretty stunned and perplexed at what I saw today. We've all seen some very shit performances over the years, many of which make you extremely upset or angry. But today was by and away the worst match I have ever been to, I just feel numb. To lose to such a shit team so comprehensively is just completely unacceptable. As someone else said, would you ever see Fulham, Everton, Spurs or Man City throw the towel in like that? Would you hell! But we seem to have a habit of doing it at the Villa, although never in such spectacular fashion as today.

There is no point doing 'player ratings' because none of them deserve a rating, everyone was woeful in the extreme.

There was no leadership, fight, flair, structure, movement, spirit, willingness, pattern, gameplan...there was nothing.

And to see hoards (and I mean hoards) of Villa fans leaving after the 4th goal has to be the lowest feeling I have experienced in my 21 years as a Villa fan. It was shocking to see and I felt utterly embarrassed to be Villa at that moment, painful as it is to admit.

We better come out all guns blazing against Rapid and Everton now otherwise the discontent will grow and we could be in for a long old season. After today's performance I would be pleased to finish 17th and stay in this league, it was that bad.

I could not put that better. Sums up my feelings perfectly. I left shorthly before their fifth. Not because of the performance, i just could not take any more piss taking from the deluded dwarfs. Dont blame them, but as you say, i felt humiliated, so i left.

And its the first time that i have left a game before the final whistle.

  10. I would like to know why Newcastle supporters were allowed to give us hand gestures and abuse, whilst everytime a villa fan did the same in responce, the Stewards and Police jumped on them?

People were being evicted for nothing.

  11. for anybody thinking of getting the train it may be cheaper to break up your journey. return from sheffield would have cost me pushing £50 but by going to york and then changing (even though the same train goes through to newcastle) i have got a return for £20.

    First class was £1400!!!!!!

Cheapest we could get was £250. I laughed, and told them to shove it 8)
