  1. €5m for a 27 year-old from the Dutch league in his last year of his contract just isn't going to happen though, is it?

Also, El-Ahmadi is pretty good going forward too, so he can be used as a more attacking option if need be.

5 million Euro's is a very realistic fee for someone with his qualities. Here is the ranking of the footballer of the year in the Eredivisie last season.

I also disagree with you that he is good going forward and that he can be played in a attacking role. The first thing that Lambert needs to do when El Ahmadi arrives is ban him from shooting at goal. He is one of the worst players I've ever seen when shooting at goal.

I agree with him being bad at shooting, but his positioning and off the ball movement is good enough. That said I'd rather we get a proper attacking midfielder as cover for Ireland.

  3. WithinPurple, you keep mentioning this Classie, what would be the cost in your opinion to prise him away? This guy looks very good in the games i've seen him in, he keeps it simple and has a massive engine.

It's hard to say really, but I should think €5m would prise him away.

Feijenoord still aren't financially stable enough to reject such an offer, but maybe Clasie wouldn't want to join us at this moment, with Feijenoord in the qualifying stages of the Champion's League. He's also the fan's favourite after this season.

    EDIT:

He's similar to Barry in what context? One pressurises players the other sits and holds, Is Lucas a destroyer, is Busquets a destroyer, a player i'd compare him to is Inler from Napoli, nicks the ball and passes it simple.

He's similar to Barry in that he's a box-to-box midfielder, he won't sit in front of the back 4 and break up play but he will track back and try to catch others in possession, along with having a good passing range. Like Barry was for us when he was still here.

  4. If we do sign him, presumably he's Petrov's replacement?

I hope we get a Premier League class replacement actually.

I think El-Ahmadi was good for Feijenoord but any level higher than the Eredivisie and I doub't he'd make it.

He's not that physically strong and while his vision is spot on I think he needs too much time on the ball to make those forward passes.

Would be pleased with this deal, assuming he's backup and not for the first team, but would also prefer Clasie for a couple million more.

El Ahmadi is deffo Premier League material and especially for Villa (if you don't mind me saying). Clasie is nowhere near PL level mainly because of his physique. He was subbed many a time this season because he had trouble adapting to the pace of the Eredivisie and therefore got tired after 70 mins. El Ahmadi was the real engine in midfield and he helped Clasie massively. When El Ahmadi wasn't in the team the midfield was 2 levels less.

El Ahmadi will not be the dominant creative playmaker on the ball (you rightly say that he is a bit of a mailman on the ball) but he can truly dominate a midfield and make sure that your team stays on the attack when pressing high up on the pitch.

For the people that do not know him...the vid below sums him up completely

Right on pretty much all accounts, but I still think most of the people on here are vastly overrating him. FWIW he can definitely do a job for us (especially for €2.8mill) but don't expect another Tioté. He is not the full on destroyer we need in midfield, he's actually quite similar to Barry but not as good.

And regariding Clasie: I'd prefer him because of his amazing talent. Yes he gets tired quickly but that's soething he can work on. For me he is a massive talent (even more than Gary Gardner IMO) and while it's true Feijenoord's midfield lacked when Clasie wasn't supported by KEA, I think the other way around was even more lacking.

The obvious answer would be to just sign them both! :D

By the way, a little fun fact: Feijenoord's very first home kit, back when they were still Wilhelmina was based on our very own Claret and Blue top!

  6. Because the name "Holland" and our dealing with the people from that part of the world pre dates the current borders of The Netherlands.

The Netherlands is a new country, its not even 200 years old yet, its barely 150 years old with it's current borders. English people have been trading and playing politics with Holland and The Dutch (which were separate places for a hell of a long time)for a thousand years and our language simply hasnt caught up yet. We cant call The Netherlands "the low countries" because the entire region of BENELUX is commonly referred to that here. We cant call it the lowlands because that is historically a part of Scotland, so we are left with the majority of English speaking people referring to that country as Holland because for the longest time that is what it was. You really dont need to draw me a diagram.

So why have I never heard any English person refer to Germany as Prussia? 200 years is a very long time in linguistics and it makes no sense at all. Also, the Netherlands is older than 200 years as it used to include Belgium. (notice the plural in Netherlands?) The term "Netherlands" has been used since the 15th century. So that point is moot too.

For what it's worth, I never expected the Dutch team to do well but this is rediculous, how Van Bommel was anywhere near the team I'll never know, probably just being BVM's son-in-law.

Would also have loved to see Clasie and Maher at least make the squad, their performances last season definitely deserved it and they would have added some much needed desire to the squad as a whole.

  7. 358 corners without a goal...............Without 1 goal ???????

So what do they do at training ? play leap frog ? have a sing along ? play hide and seek ? They certainly do not pratise corners. This particular statistic is PATHETIC but then so is our manager.

Would explain why our players go missing so often.

  8. Thats te one mate, I found a description of that scene on the net and he said it's definately the one

He was saying it's a pretty old film which is what threw me, butterfly effect wasn't all that bad of a film if I remember rightly was it?

I thought it was fantastic myself, if you can get over the obvious loopholes and stuff.

  9. Hah, playing as a stealth character.

Got the perk that increases the sneak damage multiplier for daggers to 15, AND use the Dark Brotherhood gloves to double that.

    ×30 sneak damage? Yes please.

Has anyone tried disenchanting those gloves and making an entire outfit with that enchantment?
