  1. Why raise a thread that's over a year old?

Interesting reading some of the comments and seeing the results on this thread. August 5th 2008 and the majority are not happy. I would hazard a guess that come August 31st of that year the result of such a poll would have been much different.

A reason to express caution when judging this summers 'work' so far?

You answered your own question for me 8)

  2. I have had to rest for about 2/3 weeks now because of a slight groing strain caused by cycling / running. It's only a niggle but I know it will only get worse if I dont rest it. Have any of you got any tips on speeding up recovery from groin strains (streches/ rehabilitation exercises etc). It doent help that im doing the 3 peaks in June as well - not a good time to lose all that fitness!

  3. I think your feet expand slightly when you walk/run over a certain distance due to the blood pumping to your feet, so when buying running trainers, you are probably better advised going for the upper size in your situation (i.e 11) and using thick running socks in order to compensate.

  4. Where can I find these magical watches?

garmin forerunner is the beast you are after ... Sunnto also make some but theirs involves lots of bolt on's

check out garmins website they have a little wizard that helps you select the right device

That the one i use (Garmin Forerunner 301)

tells you how far you've run, calories etc and you can plug it into your pc and it provides you will a detailed analysis of your run (split times etc) it also works with google earth so it provides an ariel view of the route you have run.

got mine off ebay about 18 months ago for £100

I went for a gait analysis a few years ago when traning for the London Marathon at sutton runner i think, i used to have trouble with "shin splints" a common ailment for runners. I was recommended Brookes Addiction and have stuck with these ever since.

  5. I go about 3 or 4 times a week - usually do 6.5 to 7 miles in 45mins

Did the Birmingham half marathon in October and finished 250th out of 9000 runners in 1h32min

my PB at Half marathon is 1hr 26m.

had become a bit of a chubster 2 years ago but managed to lose 3 st since then mainly through running - still eat loads o crap though.

Ultimate goal would be to run a sub 3 hour full marathon but being a new daddy makes it harder to be able to dedicate to time to train for it properly..

  6. Is it an own goal from Ridge or is it a close call for Petrov to get it?

Great result for Villa and I am very very happy!!

However..it was a close call and I cant say that I am too happy with that.

Kin ell Tricella , Lighten up for once will you, you're like a grumpy old woman!!
