  1. Is there ANY surprise that British media has their own darlings? Martin O´Neill has been and is a media darling and that is why they talk sooooooo good of him.

If it were to be a foreign manager having such a streak of bad results as MON has had then they would all sit and agree on why the chairman take so long time to sack the manager...

This crap wont bite on me. MON buys low profile mediocre players that are dull to watch. The club has its potential of growth held back by this...and many other things that are more solid football matters.

Moyes is probably the best manager Everton could get at the moment because of their long time financial status. I think any other manager would find it difficult to work under those circumstances.

MON has backing of the chairman and also has funds to spend...of which he has spent a lot during his time at Villa. He should´ve done better than the state we are in today.

  2. Good post.

I just dont think we have a squad capable of that. Our midfield is too weak and that makes us go into hoofing football very quick..even if MON doesnt want to play hoofing. He should have sorted it out a long time ago.

The defensive issues should´ve been sorted out a long time ago.

I just want the club to be great and to win something. I just cant see it with MON.

  3. Did you actually watch the game on Thursday, where it wasn't hoof and kick! Against Wigan you have a valid point, but knowing you, you'll refer back to last season, the 18 games or summat!

You dont know me...and I wont give you the chance. Lets just put it like that and move on.

  4. He'll turn things around this season and have us with a young exciting squad that makes up a significant part of the World Cup squad. Oh, and suddenly there'll be some posters on here going very quiet (here's hoping anyway).

Well..I cant blame you for that. For the sake of Aston Villa FC I do wish the club to go well...and it doesnt matter to me who is the manager. I just want exciting days for the club and that the club is going places. The belief I had three seasons ago when Lerner came...together with MON..was a high for every supporter of the club. Imo they have been fairly successful...despite the obvious lack of tactical knowledge from MON and his doubtful transfer activites.

We now have a squad that is very unbalanced and short at quality as well as numbers. We lack hugely in several vital areas in the squad and this is only down to the manager.

After three seasons everything is blown into pieces because MON...that is how I look at it. He has reached how far he can go with th club and therefore I want him to leave so we can get a manager that has better vision, better qualities and a status which will bring success to the club.

  5. I hope he quits or get the sack early on...I am honestly fed up with his whole package of hoofing football and mediocre quality players.

Yes leaving the club in TOTAL disarray, who would come in? then have to make do with MONs players and wait until the Jan window and would then start all over again.....3 year bloody cycle once again!

Why is it everyone wants everything NOW NOW NOW?

So according to you we are **** and a sinking ship so lets take our failing manager with us down.

NO! I want change and from what I´ve seen so far from the players I would suggest they want it too. The huge lack of energy, quality, strength and commitment on the pitch has been embarrassing to watch.

However..I do agree with you that many managers would have a mountain to climb in order to get this squad to work with anything else than "kick n run hoofing football"...

  6. He'll stay, he'll turn it around, and threads like these will be long forgotten.

I really hope not...because it has been painful to enter transfer windows with MON. It has too often been embarrassing signings and also mediocre football with hoofing as the guide of success.

    I want it to end...

MON has made the most of what he can do. He has had two consecutive 6th places in the league and the club seems to decline at the moment. MON has failed to keep our status as a top 6 club and it will show...it has already showed by losing 0-2 at home to Wigan in the league and also a embarrassing loss in Europa Cup to Rapid Vienna. We have two wins in 18 competitive games...

Enough is enough. The squad lacks so much that it is unbelievable considering the clubs status in Premier League.

  7. I think we will all calm down when, and if, he brings in 2/3 players of good enough quality. I refuse to jump on the MON out rubbish as I don't think we'll get anyone better. I think we'll struggle to finish in the top half with our current squad at the minute but I'd accept a Carling Cup win and, say, 10th.

Aston Villa FC are bigger than Martin O`Neill and we could easily find a manager of better quality imo. It is lack of belief and ambition to think MON is the best we can get...

If it was true...then the club is in sad state...because MON isnt all that...far from it.

  8. Tricella, he will not get sacked i assure you!

So..then I hope he will walk soon...

I like MON as a person because he gives a great impression being a good man. He is simply not top quality manager and that is what the club lacks at the moment. A manager that can take advantage of the clubs great position in the football world. MON is not capable...

  9. Just reading over this thread, one of the main points from the lads that want MON out is that this isn't just the result of the loss to Wigan, but the poor end to last season. So how come there wasn't any MON out threads over the summer, why not at the end of last season? This one defeat can't have changed your opinion that much, this is why it screams over-reaction to me.

Because the fans has given MON the benefit to have a go at the summer to strengthen the team. He hasnt done that in a way that fans are happy with...together with this his tactics are way off the mark and he also has got a team playing a very unattractive game.

It is many things on few areas that make you feel that it is enough...

Thy've given him the summer to strengthen.. yet they're calling for his head while it's still the summer. It still screams over-reaction, to me.

Overreaction just because you want to call it that...

It has looked like this for more than six months now. We still have issues about our squad that we have had for more than two seasons now.

That is not an overreaction...it is time catching up with MON.

  11. why do people think this is about 1 game? where have you been since Christmas. Saturday was a sign that over the summer we have made no progress whatsoever

So you are saying this isn't about one game but then declaring that we have made no progress this Summer based on one game?

For me it is the last half of the season..and it has began as awful now as it was then. 3 wins in 18 games is ridicolous and many many manager would have lost their jobs with those stats...furthermore...the team doesnt play good. We just arent good enough...

  12. Guus Hiddink

    Ronald Koeman

    Frank Riijkaard

    Ruud Gullit

    Louis Van Gaal

    Sven Göran Eriksson

    Gerard Houllier

English managers that could do as good is a few but I wont name them because I know it wont be a reasonable discussion at all. You will attack as you usually does...

I could go on with more because Aston Villa FC is a great club that many managers would love to be at.

Martin O´Neill is seriously not at all the class you suggest he is. He is top class when it comes to coaching the players and improving them physical. He is clueless at times when it comes to tactics. He is absolutely shocking when it comes to transfers. With these attributes time will catch up with him...as it has now.

The majority of those managers are either not available or wouldn't come to Villa though, that's the point. The only ones I could see coming to Villa are Erikkson and Gullit - and in my opinion they would not do any better than O'Neill has done in the last few season. Erikkson is more interested in getting his leg over than winning football matches.

    Edited - OBE

I gave you names...and they would probably represent the term gettable. Hiddink has got the taste of PL. Koeman would jump at the chance imo. I also believe Rijkaard to be interested. You underestimate the attraction level Villa has. We dont need to be satisfied with MON..we can get better.

And..SGE would do a better job..and it would also look better when he was doing it because the hoofing way would not be there.

Disagree all you like...but be fair in comments and there will never be any problems.

  13. time for o neill to go he has endless weaknesses that he has not fixed..dont ask me why but he just has not addresed them...he must be clueless 2 wins in 17...Sack Him Randy

I'll ask again cos no-one who wants the see the back of MON seems to have an answer.

Who should be brought in? Who is available who would realistically come to Villa and do better than MON has done?

Are you saying that in order to replace MON we must be able to see into the future and have hindsight at first sight?

There are many managers out there that can do as good as MON...believe me. There are also managers out there that can take the club further...which I seriously doubt MON is able to do.

See into the future??? No Tricella, but to sack the manager without any idea of who can come in and replace him, and do a better job, is just utter idiocy.

If you say you want him sacked, then you must have other candidates in mind who you think could do a better job. If not, then you haven't really thought your position through at all.

So who is gettable, available and would want to come to to Villa, and would do a better job? It's a fundamental and vitally important question if we are debating whether our manager should be sacked - can't you see that??

  15. Needs to stay, he inherited a pretty bad squad and did OK to turn it around. He's going through a bad patch but so has Arsene Wenger every single year and he's still there.

Are you serriously comparing MON with Wenger? That is a bloody shock!

Wenger has had a slump of fortunes recently but he is ARSENAL...he has made Arsenal what they are today and if you did see an ounce of football yesterday you would´ve been bloody happy to support Arsene Wengers exciting Guns!

Sounds like you should be the one supporting Arsenal.

No..but I like good football when I see it...and I do appreciate it from whoever it comes from. I love the sport and I would really love to see that kind of talent, quality and strength at Villa.

I was speaking to a girl I know who's a Celtic season ticket holder a month back and again last night about MON and she says this all souunds like his last 2 seasons at Celtic. She said then his tactics were bizarre, his signings scratched heads, his subsitutions baffling, and his stubborn loyalty to certain players when it was obvious their form was way off frustrating, and the style of football shifted from good attacking football to ugly long ball play, and she admitted that the fact that apart from Rangers the league was so weak covered alot of cracks in the Celtic set up.

It's no surprise really.. it's the same that has been going on here for the last year or so

Not a surprise to me either...

  18. Many is suitable to be fair but I named Guus Hiddink as one...(now people will minimize Aston Villa and say that I am an idiot to think he will join..but that is my opinion that Hiddink could be a reasonable manager for Villa).

The press clearly reported that Hiddink was committed to the Russian team. If he wouldn't manage Chelsea why do you think he'd come to Villa? Take off those claret and blue specs please.

Would you also be happy with Villa playing the time-wasting crap that Chelsea played under him? I don't give a monkeys about short passing/long passing but I revile cheating and gamesmanship.

Wow...the press told you? And btw...isnt Ashley the God diving quite regular?

  19. Put it this way, if we sack MON, we'll be a laughing stock! If people seriously think Hiddink, they've been on some serious medication. Next someone will say why not try for Wenger or Mourinho. I've watched the game again, and you know what alot of blame does lie with MON, his tactics were all wrong, but credit where credits due, Wigan were superb, the pressure they put on us, the way they kept the ball, I really think they'll be darkhorses in this campaign. We'll be back, add a few more 'quality' players. Liverpool is the best game for us, we can go there with no pressure and just play our game.

If you cant handle discussions without being offensive then leave it. I am fine and I dont need medication. You on the other hand needs to finish your education.
