  1. I understand leaving out NRC - he ran his socks off vs. Pool and will be needed against Fulham. He's also not the sort of guy with the invention to break down a team that has a first leg lead and can sit back. But I am worried about Delph. I never like seeing Heskey play but am happy about having Carew back.

Have a bad feeling about this one. Could be going out on away goals here.

Let's hope I'm wrong. Up the Villa!

  2. It seems the fans were right. 4-5-1, no Heskey, NRC has to play. In fairness to MON, he's the one who got it right, he's the one who motivated the lads and put an injured Davies out there who ended up being immense.

First win over Liverpool in 8 years... what a massive step forward. Season begins here. Our young lads will have their confidence back now, for sure.

A note of caution. We've still a small squad, and we're suited to counter-attacking football. There will be other days like Wigan at Villa Park this year. But who cares about that now, let's just celebrate an immense performance.

Man of the match: Can't choose between NRC, Davies (scored and silenced Torres) and Brad. Beye, Cuellar, Sidwell all great as well.

  3. Lol, when I saw our away kit I knew we'd get some classy performances in it. We looked dapper in attire, and **** ferocious all over the pitch. Absolutely savage stuff all around. I hate to say it but the fans were right - 4-5-1, no Heskey, NRC must play. All those things occurred and look what happened! Also our away supporters were magnificent.

  4. Just to emphasise this -

    • Liverpool have not lost at home in the league for 31 games.

    • Liverpool have never lost a Premier League match in which Fernando Torres has scored. Torres has now scored in 28 different league matches for the club (23 wins, 5 draws).

These are excellent points. This really is an epic win tonight. We never win games like this, this is a huge step. And it gets all our young lads back on the confidence train. Effin' brilliant.
