  1. Here's a question:

If AMcL gets the job and you're one of the (seemingly) thousands who swear they'll never spend a pound at the club until he's gone, will you be in the queue for tickets if he gets us to Wembley?

    Be honest...

No quite simply, get the blues to wembley and look what happened to them. If we appointed him i cant see myself even following villa id be genuinely disgusted by it. Ill always be a villa fan but i couldnt follow the club whilst it was managed by mcleish.

Genuinely disgusted? Couldn't follow Villa whilst he is appointed? Come on, this is just over the top. If he comes in and is reasonably successful, your little protest would grind to a halt wouldn't it?

I'm not saying I want him, but if he is appointed I'm sure we'll all get over it if he does ok. The OTT reactions are frankly a little childish.

  2. Thank you for your patience gentlemen, and welcome to this afternoon's press conference. Apologies for the late start, but I'm sure you're aware that there have been some delicate negotiations going on, and these things take some time.

Before making any announcements I'd like to thank all the local caterers for their generosity with their time. As you can imagine, there were a number of candidates keen to apply for the very desirable post of my lunch. I am aware that there were several rumours circulating about whether I would go for some exotic foreign name, with the hint of glamour that inevitably accompanies it.

In the end, after much deliberation, I decided that now is not the time to be taking risks with my digestive system, and in the end had little hesitation in opting for a tried and tested candidate.

So, without further ado, I would like to announce that my choice of lunch was:

Cornish pasty, caramel shortbread and a cup of coffee.

I'm sure you will agree that they now need to be left alone to get on with their job. We will not be taking questions at this time.

    Thank you.

    Absolutely typical.

The reticence that preceded the announcement allowed space for such a hotbed of speculation (also fuelled by apparent ITKs such as Mr Plums) that some of us were conjuring up all sorts of menus from caviar and champagne to an exotic mix of italian cured meats washed down with a pint of Fuller's.

The lack of ambition shown in your eventual choice has now made all of us dreamers look rather daft; we can only surmise that you don't aspire to moving up to a seat at the top of the table and instead are satisfied with mid dining table mediocrity.

    Out with the (cheese) board.

Cornish pasty? Just a poor mans steak and kidney. Now if you'd gone for Balti Pie - that would have been a statement...

  3. Do people think there is a chance we have already signed someone up? And all the secrecy is because we are working on a deal for a player too? That the new manager requested and we will have a double unveiling? LOL would be amazing!

    Er, No.

  4. Dave Whelan interview on SSN -

"Villa fans should be very proud of the way their club handles matters. If every club behaved like Aston Villa football would be a much better place to be!"

Wonder if he will still think that if we go back for their best players too?

  5. What a small heath fan has stuck on facebook...

'Very satisfied my club is not running itself into debt with panic buys. Money talks but doesn't bring passionate and committed players. And looking at the Darren Bent transfer fiasco's from Charlton, Totenham and sunderland, he most certainly lacks passion and commitment to his clubs. Good luck to him though, he has already made his new club look like mugs'

    :crylaugh:

    Panic buys :crylaugh: :crylaugh:

This is loose change from Randy's back pocket. He will probably donate another million quid to a gallery after Bent signs just for the **** of it. He will then light a Cuban with a £50 pound note and blow the smoke in Carson Yeung's face.

    Excellent!

  6. From the professionalism of our dealings with players and other clubs to the restoration of our proud traditions and landmarks, not to mention the charity and community work, Mr Lerner and everyone involved in our transformation has created a truly brilliant brand for AVFC, one that I've never been prouder to support!

Everyone involved should be really proud of what they have achieved so far in such a short space of time!

Exactly right, completely agree. Keep it up.
