  1. all players think like this. I just think foreign players arent worried about telling people about it. In that case you have to admire their honesty about the whole thing rather than pretending your staying for the rest of your life and jumping ship as soon as the big boys come calling (aka Barry, Milner and Young).

You will get the odd few players that will be loyal (mellberg, gabby, laursen etc) but clubs will only ever have 2/3 max during a generation of players. Just how it is.

Good thing from all this, is that he wants to play for arsenal, hes going to have to play like an arsenal player (GOOD FOR US!). If he ends up going, he goes, we move on and replace. Its not just us. Look at Fulham who just lost Dempsey and Dembele to Tottenham. Theyve bought well and will do ok. You need a bit of luck with players coming through youth system and signing known and unknown players well to make you a top 4/5 side, to which then if your players go, you are big enough te replace them with quality.

Benteke will save us this season from going down and maybe next season build a side around him to make us mid-table - Europa places, if that means we lose him to a big side, so be it, he has served his purpose of helping build our side back up. Before we signed him, didnt have a clue who he was. There are players out there. I honestly think its more important to keep Lambert who to me has been the real revelation this year!

  2. I actually cant believe some of the comments on this thread! 1 saying he is not loyal, even though every time he has been linked with another team (quite a few times) he has come out instantly and said hes not going, not to mention the amount of work he does for villa on and off the pitch!

Secondly, someone said he was poor last year...small memory as he was easily our best player for the first few months of the year with some outstanding performances, he then got injured and the players around him were disappearing too.

Lastly, people saying he is injury prone when in reality its only two years out of about 6 or 7 he has picked up injuries. Ash Young hardly every injured for us moves to Man ure and sits out most of the year... is he injury prone then? He may well be injury prone but as i always say, that is the only thing fans do not know about, unless the club come out and say it which to my knowledge they havent.

    Rant over!

  3. a lot of people sy a lot of his balls dont find people.... he puts that many in , of course they are not all going to find a man. If they did we would be winning the league!! The fact is he gets in those positions and time after time trys to get the ball in dangerous areas, surprise surprise the second goal came from a great cross of his. He puts the opposition on the back foot allowing the other attackers to get in the game aswell.

  4. iv not slagged off a signing for a while now, in terms that if you havent seen a guy play various 90 mins how can you be commenting on how good he is/will be. I doubt there is that many Dutch League admirers on the forum to know enough so lets cut the negative rubbish.

I seem to remember a few murmours about us signing walker last year (i definetly remember the words tottenham reject being thrown around and look how that turned out)

  5. why has he not put Carlos in at CB! Dunne and Collins both have got complacenet after their 'superb' start! Always been a MASSIVE dunne fan and even defended him a lot last year when didnt really deserve it!

However for me last nights performance was so bad i think it may be time to hang up your boots after the euros dunney! I actually think i could have done better! Carlos must be fuming at the idea that they are irreplaceable. just another shocking decision from the idiot!

  6. hes had a poor start to the season if you ask me. In the last two games he has missed what i would call easy chances and good chances in other games. Needs one off his bum to get some confidence i think because at the moment he is nowhere near clinical!

  7. i think petrov is better than Jean 11 but he wont be able to play every game if were looking to go far in doemstic cups so he should defo be kept for when petrov is tired/out of form. petrov sometimes can do with beeing subbed at 70 mins on most games as well, makoun being the ideal replacement as hes an athletic player, gets around the pitch a lot!

  8. i certainly like that fact he knows where the goal is but the two things i like the most are his positioning and his work rate!

He always seems to be in the right place at the right time for goals but not only that, for his goal against blackpool he peeled of his defender brilliantly and looked for the through ball! brilliant stuff.

Secondly, i went to Fulham and there wasnt a player on that pitch that worked harder! Worked his ass off!

To sum up, I like the lad!

  9. i just love the guys work ethic! doesnt stop running, albrighton as well, doesnt stop!

if you get highlights of the first goal theres a bit of hilarity in there! when the goal goes in..Bannan doesnt know what to do and runs in a circle and then off to the fans! albrighton pegs past reo-coker, loads of players around bannan and who gets in there first for a hug, albrighton from the other side of the pitch piles into bannan! they both seem to be working their asses off for McDonald!

  10. Wasn't all that impressed to be honest, think the game passed him by, thought Hogg was a disaster too.

I really don't mean to be rude mate but I have to question which game you actually watched last night?

    So far we've had:

"I'd say Albrighton is naturally two-footed"

'Heskey was absolutely shit from start to finish'

    "Hogg was a disaster"

"the game passed him by" - referring to Bannan

Albrighton is not yet two-footed, he's incredibly right footed.

Heskey was actually pretty good in the first half but faded as the game wore on.

Hogg was not a disaster, he did the simple things well and was disciplined in the centre of midfield - do not forget, this was his first competitive start for the first team, to expect much more in the conditions is crazy.

Bannan, okay he didn't do an awful lot but he scored the frickin goal and looked lively enough in flashes, again, this was his first competitive start for the club.

I'm all for opinions but yours seem wide of the mark I'm sorry to say.

if im honest i think your both off the mark! HAHAH!

albrighton was extremely dangerous going past players on both wings...not both footed but can certainly go either way!

bannan was quite good in terms of getting on the ball. goal obviously and generally running his arse off

hogg was awful! no doubt about that...his positional play was incredibly poor.

heskey was his usual looks sharp and good for 10 minutes and stops running and working for the team..second half coudlnt hold up a bank with a shotgun!

    theres my two cents.

  11. he wiull be our star this season! Laursenesque season for me scoring 25! I dont have love that man! Just loves the club/fans now...if a player wants to know how to get fans on their side just emulate John Carew! I remember not long back a lot of people oon here were saying he was really bad form and we should let him go! Safe to say they went quiet towards the end of the season and arent really saying anything now!

  12. last thing i want now is milner to stay! there will be anomosity towards him and i dont want anyone who doesnt WANT to play anywhere near the team. If the two teams cant meet a valuation and he stays he has to be benched to prove he is not bigger than the club and make an example to rest of the players/potentail signings!

  13. One player who up until this point has never caused any trouble or shown any signs of causing trouble.

One manager who has a track record of falling out with players and just ignoring them, making it seem not his fault.

There is certainly more to this, its not so clear cut.

Milner says he wants to leave to MON, thats it in MON's eyes he couldn't possibly have changed his mind and wanted to talk to MON about it, perhaps deciding he would be on the bench all the time during the World Cup.

His only contact is with our chief exec, what if he wanted to talk again to MON about the playing side?

Nope thats it, your not talking to me you've burnt your bridges.

All theoretical i know, but going by our managers past experience of being stubborn could be true.

Why does it have to be MON who has done the dirty?

From what i can gather, James Milner is now pissed off as he didnt want us fans thinking that he requested a move, MON thought **** him (and rightly so) im going to make it public and play it straight down the line saying basically ''James has asked to leave, if Man City can meet our valuation he can go''.

Milner is pissed off by all accounts because he didnt want it played out that he had requested a move.

    Well done MON

i would not be surprised if this was bang on!
