  1. Way too many column inches have been written about 90% of the stuff that get's written about so it's a bit of a mute point really.

News papers write what people want to read and the overdose of the pretty daughter of an old popstar is more topical than ISIS at the moment.

  2. I ran with the Malawi national team runners the other day. They were passing through Bromsgrove on their way up to the commonwealth games and did a local 10k as a training run. I say I ran with them, they were alongside me for a split second before disappearing into the distance. They ran the 10k (on a hilly course) in a relaxed 30:42 and 30:47. The closest local runner was 34:35.

Honestly, you see some of these athletes on the TV and you just go "meh". Getting up close to them when they're doing their thing and it's often spectacular to watch, completely overwhelms you how far ahead these athletes are of your average joe who goes cycling or running a few times a week. I'm off to the velodrome in a couple days, can't wait.

  3. Grumpy gits. The only bad thing was Rod Stewart's attempt to sing...painful.

    Really?

I mean i know the budget was MUCH less than London and Russia, but I've not enjoyed any of this. I loved both the London and Russian openers.

  4. Looking forward to the new Fincher movie Gone Girl. Latest trailer here:

Only negative for me would be Rosamund Pike who i've always found to be a little wooden, but i'm sure Fincher will make her shine.

Her acting is a bit meh but man she's adorable.

  5. Halfords is a good shout for boycotting. Completely despicable company.

Nestle and Coca Cola trumps all in terms of evil tyrants, bit harder to boycott those tho... i like my junk food too much to care about all the life's they are destroying.

  6.

The fact that I've been off this site for 2-3 years and it's still the exact same 20 threads on the front page.

Why not give it another three years and see if things are more to your taste then?

Seeing as most of the threads are between 4-7 years old, I doubt that'll be long enough.

  7. The guy ordered a cake from there with the hope of them refusing it so he could bash on the Christian ethics I presume. And I assume the case will be going through the same courts that haven't made it legal for two people of the same sex to be married yet?

    Either way, I hate cake.

  8. Would it be fair to ask the same people that posted here what they think of Ally McCoist?

There is a huge dislike of everything to do with Scottish football on this site (some of it valid, some of it total nonsense), so I'm just curious if this thread is just that, or if there is actually a special dislike for Lennon.

  9. With any luck, Celtic will do the same.

No chance Celtic are being well run :winkold:

Whilst Celtic are in no danger of going in to administration any time soon due to the fact that they have been ran well financially... one half of the Old Firm going down the pan will not end well for them the other half.

Most Celtic fans are gleefully celebrating the demise of their "enemy", but the hangover is just around the corner...

As a Rangers fan... I'm quite obviously a bit upset about this whole sharade, but its been coming for so long now. I won't exactly be losing any sleep over it.

PS. Who wants to discuss a topic when you can just say some hate filled one liners?

See this kinda sums up Rangers as a club, in one of the worst moments in their history they still go on about Celtic. Heard it last night on the Clyde phone in and tbh it's bullshit, Celtic had 50,000+ for this Saturdays game against Inverness Caley Thistle, they support Celtic first and foremost!

Now say Rangers do get hit with the full penalties by the HMRC and Sir Craig Whtye reckons the total bill would be around £75m obviously the club would go into liquidation it just means that the Scottish football landscape would change it could be a brand new start for the likes off Aberdeen possibly Hibs, Rangers have never and will be the most important in Scottish football.

Emm, does that mean everyone else brining up the subject of celtic before me hate celtic more than they love villa?

    @Bicks, I'm glad you're not generalising 500,000 people you've never met.

  11. I dont really see the issue here. If you're happy to kill an animal and eat it for dinner, should you really be that fussed how it's killed?

I mean if you want to have any morals on animal welfare, you shouldnt be killing the things in the first place surely?

I doubt its any animals goal in life to become covered in mustard.

Yes, if I was going to kill an animal and eat it, id want to stick it out its missery as quick as possible, but only because I dont want to go through the ordeal of watching it suffer. I dont actually care about the animal. Id just hope it tastes good.

  12. Nobody hates you Julie, at least I don't. I just think your views are exceedingly strange and based on ignorance and lies, and that your religion is an evil, twisted, malignant cancer on the world.

How can you say that without hating the person/people who adhere to that religion and actively try and get other people involved?

It's easy to say that, Risoo gives an example of how to say it and you quoted it.

Intelligent reply. Fits in this thread well.

  14. Numerous samples of rock were taken from Mt Ngauruhoe, which erupted in the 1950's..The rocks sent to the lab were around 50 years old..Yet the dating came back stating they were millions of years old.

How old do you believe the earth is?

Not life on it, the actual planet. How old is the planet?

    Depends what you believe..

If you believe God created the world and in the bible, the earth is less than 10,000 years old..Unless you twist words around in the bible to fit the evolution model, as I explained above how thats done.

If you believe in evolution, the the earth will be billions of years old, again this number will keep changing. Its ranged from millions to billions. What is said yesterday can easily change today by as much as a billion years.

Which basically gives you three options/roads to go down to determine how old the earth is.

    1. Bible as it states = less than 10k years old.

    2. Bible with vague writings in Genesis that need changing to fit the evolution model = billions of years.

    3. Evolution = billions of years.

That's an awful lot of words to spend not answering a question.

    Once again.

How old DO YOU think the earth is?

I think what he's trying to say is he doesnt know?

If there is a God. I'm sure it wouldnt be hard for that God to create a planet with a history.

Ie, he creates a tree, but the tree has 50 rungs in it. So whilst the tree has only been tehre a few minutes, it has a history, and an age of 50 years. As could ahve been the case with Adam and Eve. I mean he's God, he can do what he wants.

Hmmm, God threads on VT, strange places
